Response from LA GOP - relax it's all goodSubmitted by treber on Wed, 01/23/2008 - 20:30
We had nothing to do with the compilation of slates. Candidates ran under their own name. That's what appeared on ballots. If they had multiple teams campaigning for them, that is up to them.
These delegates are going to a state convention. With the exception of the 20 delegates who may be allocated on the basis of the result of the February 9 presidential preference primary, none of our delegates are committed.
Our system changes from cycle to cycle. This is the first year time most of our delegates will go to the national convention uncommitted.
Hope this helps.
This means that there was no "fusion" slate. each candidate won or lost their delegates as normal. For whatever reason (probably to prevent Paul from claiming victory) they also combined their candidates as a fusion slate, but in reality, this means that RON PAUL GOT NEARLY AS MANY DELEGATES AS ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES PUT TOGETHER!! case closed. Move on, WE WON!
