Good idea for getting votes on halloween!

Hey y'all,
i was on youtube and i read a comment containing an excellent suggestion... ready?
Halloween is coming up, right? so why not take advantage of this and hand out gazillions of fliers and tell kids to show em to their parents...
the advertising possibilities are HUGE!
dont forget to hand out candy too!

I dunno, I'm kind of apprehensive to handing out flyers directly to people. It seems a lot like something religious people do, and people might get defensive just as gut reaction.
Maybe have some fliers on a table or something available so people can check it out, and have some lawn signs out. Maybe even tie it into yard decorations or something. The point I'm trying to make is that you want to grab people's attention and make them want to learn more, and I just don't think handing out flyers when they're out to have a good time with their kid is a good way to do that.
Oh yeah
I just wanted to also echo that it's important to give GENEROUSLY to the kids. You want them to leave them with a great impression of you if you're . The more memorable you make your treat, the better, so they might remember you and the signs in the front and be more interested.
This would be even better if you could coordinate with other supporters in your neighborhood with signs in front. Then whenever parents/kids see the sign they can expect a good treat at that house. See where I'm getting at?
I don't have kids to go trick or treating with, so if someone has better ideas, I'd certainly like to hear them to make my promotion more effective in my neighborhood.

I did this idea for the Libertarian candidate Harry Browne in 2000.
Gave out lots of flyers to trick or treaters. I think i'll hand out flyers to the home owners this year, since i'll be going door to door with my own kids anyways, good idea...

The Halloween idea
I wasn't even allowed to trick or treat until I was 7yrs. old, and then only because my dad was helping a local campaign, so I had to give each house I went to the campaign literature.
So that is the other way to do it on Halloween. Give your kids or nieces and nephews or cousins (whatever/whomever) a bunch of the slim jims and then each house they visit tell them to give one to the person who answers the door.
It works. Trust me.

Just remember to give the kids treats with the fliers. We don't want to be the campaign that bums all the kids out on Halloween. We'd be even more reviled than the jerks who give out popcorn balls or apples... LOL
