Senators skip classified briefing (Paul spotted leaving the briefing)

The exodus of colleagues exasperated Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who spent a grueling week answering colleagues’ and media questions about the program.

Only 47 of 100 senators attended the 2:30 briefing, leaving dozens of chairs in the secure meeting room empty as Clapper, Alexander and other senior officials told lawmakers about classified programs to monitor millions of telephone calls and broad swaths of Internet activity.

Maybe Rand left the briefing

Maybe Rand left the briefing because it was a white wash.

Attend the briefing?

Why? So we can be fed some more lies? If I were in congress I would be asking Glenn Greenwald what else he knows...maybe get some real truth from him.

If they were'nt somehow

If they were'nt somehow forced, or no percivable way to make the meeting due to location(and i mean VERY far away), or attending something that was equal in its importance, both officially and personally, from physically attending, then that is UNACEPTABLE......not caring enough to have your own questions, not caring enough to DEMAND some answers.......you wonder why trust is so low, its because of lack of interest in what your constituants care about

My opinion, 1 part frustrated, 2 parts reasonable

imagine the looks

on their lying faces if nobody had shown up.

It doesn't say Rand skipped the briefing

It says, "Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), one of the chief critics of the surveillance programs, was spotted leaving the briefing."

Which I understand it to mean, he went to the briefing and left when it was over.

Might want to change your headline.

Who knows?

I guess if you like Rand Paul, you assume he stayed the whole time and was seen after it was over. If you are neutral, you assume he stayed and left half way to catch a plane. If you dislike Paul, you assume he left at the start. The article doesn't clarify any of those assumptions.

I agree

Change the title.

The breifing is crap

there is nothing to learn there except the wording of their lies.

"Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), one

"Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), one of the chief critics of the surveillance programs, was spotted leaving the briefing."

I read that as one of the only people mentioned in the article that DID attend the briefing.
