CBS News ignores Ron paulSubmitted by SemperFi on Wed, 01/23/2008 - 23:19
Tonight I watched the evening news on CBS while exercising on my elliptical exercise machine. Bad idea. My goal was to de-stress myself and lower my blood pressure. The opposite happens. I grind my teeth as CBS presents interviews on all the presidential candidates, except Ron Paul. I struggle to not to pound my head against the exercise machines' display panel. I am not enjoying my workout.
As of this date, Ron Paul has beat Rudy Giuliani by large margins in Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, and South Carolina. In fact, he came in 2nd in Nevada, while Giuliani came a dismal sixth. Ron Paul currently has 6 delegates to Giuliani's 2. Ron Paul campaign just raised 1.85 million dollars in one day, on Martin Luther Kings birthday. Rudy's campaign, meanwhile, is flat broke, and his staff are working pro bono. Remember when Brit Hume asked Ron Paul during the Republican debate why he thought he was electable? Shouldn't this now be asked of Giuliani?
Yet Rudy continues to receive attention from the media--Free coverage, mind you. Ron Paul is totally, completely ignored. Ignored by CBS, ABC, the NY Times, NPR radio, Time Magazine, and Fox news.
It brings to mind a old episode of Taxi, where Danny Devito stands up after a girl he was rooting for loses a spelling bee. Devito's character chants "Fix--FIX!--- FIIIIIIIIIIX!!!. Yes, the fix is in folks. Those of you don't care for Ron Paul one whit, just remember this. If the press can choose to ignore him, they can also choose to discriminate against any number of individuals and issues. You can't expect a biased media to serve the best interests of citizens in the long run by such methods.
