TNR: President Rand Paul.

“You can make a case,” says the Democratic leadership staffer, “that he’s the most powerful Senator in the Republican caucus.”

"And yet father and son agree on the utopian fundamentals—whittling the government down to its barest minimum, decriminalizing drug use, and moving toward an isolationist foreign policy. They frequently consult each other, even if they don’t always take the advice. When Ron ran for president, Rand was his chief surrogate; when Rand ran for the Senate, Ron referred to the race as “our campaign.”

Rand and Ron, he explained, are “on a little different trails, but they’re going the same direction, because there are different ways to get there." Indeed, Ron does not begrudge his son his earthly desires; if anything, he seems to value them. Brian Doherty, an editor* at the libertarian magazine Reason and Ron Paul’s biographer, traveled with the Pauls during the 2012 campaign. He told me that he once heard Ron say of Rand, “It may well be that his approach will be far more successful than mine ever was.”

When the TNR says this...

"For decades, various nonprofits associated with the elder Paul published pamphlets containing racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic vitriol."

-- REMEMBER that this is NOT true at all! And most of all, REMEMBER that TNR thinks and says the Daily Paul is a "hotbed of racist, anti-semitic, and homophobic vitriol" too.

Never forget that it was TNR has been at the vanguard of the PC police since the 1980's and it was TNR that attacked the Ron Paul letters.

Never forget that it was TNR that gleamed 32 out of context quotes from the Ron Paul Newsletters to slander Ron Paul as a racist, anti-semitic, homophobic. And most of all, never forget it was the gay (abortion loving) boys & girls over at REASON who THOUGHT that breaking these 32 out of context quotes and NOT placing them back into context in the bright light of Reason was somehow helping the cause of liberty.

Point being - Don't take your eyes off our egalitarianism-by-the-force-of-socialism-cultural-PC-police ENEMIES over at the TNR.

That said, it was an well written article on Rand Paul.

Great article - loved this little gem:

After he beat Conway by eleven points, McConnell kept Paul close. He got him an office near his own and placed him on the Foreign Relations Committee. 'The perception is McConnell fears him,' says a Republican Senate staffer.

I wouldn't get too excited...The GOP/RNC and right wing talk...

...show idiots like Limbaugh, Medved, Beck, Levin, O'Reilly, Hannity etc will see to it that Rand gets stopped in his tracks.

Wish I weren't so negative but that's how I see it playing out.

The irrepairable damage these fools did to Ron was beyond belief.

You have a right wing media full of Israel-first, war-monging, Arab-hating, big government types who parade around as conservatives.

But they made sure to band together and ruin Dr. Paul's chances in 2008 and 2012.

So unless they all have an epiphany and a sudden concern for the TRUTH, I don't see anything changing in 2016.

But remember, the world central bankers - who run our lives - will never tolerate a Rand Paul presidency - and the bankers ALWAYS win.

I'm hoping Jesse Ventura runs as an independent and pokes his finger in the eyes of both the rotten and corrupt major parties.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Are we ready?

It is very satisfying to see that we are finally being perceived as a serious, viable threat by the Neocon establishment. The question though is, one that we all need to take seriously is, are we ready for the attacks (physical, psychological, political and so forth) that will be used against Rand and ourselves as the Neocons rally to this war call? I worry very much that we are not. Too many of us have gone back to our everyday lives after the Ron Paul campaign. Folks, we need to get organized, get back involved, and get prepared now. Not a year from now. And we all need to start preparing by studying the same texts that our enemies study from: The Art of War, The Prince, The Courtier, instead of focusing exclusively on Austrian economic treatises.

Luckily

We've got a little bit of time to prepare... granted, it's hard to get libertarians to collectively prepare and agree on a battle plan... like herding cats.

Wow- excellent article!

Great read.

However, this one line was absurd: "It is no coincidence that, last fall, McConnell hired Benton, Paul’s political guru, to run his campaign." Guru - LOL!!!!

This article actually made me like Rand even more
