Black Louisiana State Senator: I'm Now a Republican Because the Democrat Party is The Party of "Overseers"

This is one of the most powerful statements I have ever heard. It is a must-watch, must-forward.

State Senator Elbert Guillory recently switched from Democrat to Republican. He created a video to explain his switch. It's incredibly moving.

From WorldNetDaily:

“In recent history, the Democratic Party has created the illusion that their agenda and their policies are what’s best for black people. Somehow, it has been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement, with one simple creed – that slavery is a violation of the rights of man,” he said.

He noted it was Republicans who pushed for the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, giving blacks citizenship, voting rights and due process.

“Democrats, on the other hand, were the party of Jim Crow. It was the Democrats who defended the rights of slave owners.”

He warned that the very foundations of the Democratic Party are faulty.

“At the heart of liberalism is the idea that only a great and powerful big government can be the benefactor of social justice for all Americans. But the left is only concerned with one thing: control. And they disguise this control as charity.”

So tired of the GOP groveling around, trying to find somebody "black" to shove in front of the camera. Michael Steele, Ben Carson and now this guy. Listen to the music, look at his hand gestures, this is all so orchestrated. You really think the black community is going to care what the republicans did for them 50 or 150 years ago? The PTB know that the current system depends on everybody buying into it. We are on the verge of millions of new democratic voters with the immigration bill pending. This is an attempt to start getting people of color to vote republican, and keep the scales from getting tipped too far to one side. Mark my words, you will start seeing African American pro-athletes, preachers and singers, "discovering" the republican party.

So this gentleman isn't capable of making up his own mind?

His speech was written for him?

Thanks for clarifying that. For a moment I thought there was great wisdom in his words.

Your criticisms of this guy could just as easily be directed at Dr. Paul. for putting a "R" after his name.

I position is that the republican party is my party, and I intend to take the SOB back, with the help of gentlemen like this, and Dr. Paul and Rand.

hmm good point about the

hmm good point about the establishment string pullers trying (perhaps in vain) to get minorities to vote republican, in order to keep the balancing act between the two parties going. the ability to swing elections on a 1 or 2 percent margin is extremely important to the power that money and media holds over politics. if one party becomes too dominant, the money and the media influence become less tight a string over politicians, and the dominant one party will have immense leeway to ignore them.

but the question is, despite their desire to keep the two parties balanced, will they be successful? or is the sociology of race and politics too strongly ingrained to reverse quickly with propaganda? hard to imagine minorities going to the republicans in substantial numbers.

in fact i expect a long period of one party predominance, the democrats of course, and the string pullers losing a bit of influence to the tiger its riding, the democratic state and its dominant party.

I have met him numerous times...

Mr Guillory is a true servant of the people. When he was running for the seat, in my neighboring district, as a Democrat, he was one of the few who actually answered Campaign for Liberty's questionnaire. Nailed every question in it, IMO. He shares many, many of my views and I was disappointed that I couldn't vote for him (his district is only 3 miles away).

He was one of the only servants, in that election year, that actually stopped to talk to me for a few minutes and answer some of my queries. Even if I had disagreements with him, he would tell you how and why he had reached his conclusion. He's never, ever, dodged a question that I've asked of him and seems to be an honest politician.

I know he's playing R vs D right now, but don't let that fool you. He knows it's mostly a game when it comes to party affiliation. He hasn't changed any of his major policy views. There's far more agree than disagree with Mr. Guillory.

Thank You for the low dowm--

Excellent video

though I agree with most posters that the Republicans are no better than the Democrats nowadays.

It is apparent though that he has the charisma, speaking ability, and intelligence to do wonders for the Liberty movement if we can sway him to our side.

Republicans and Democrats... all part of the show... wow, one of the puppets has a new role in the show... whoopideeedooo.

I think he'll find the Rs are

I think he'll find the Rs are just as full of empty promises and ploys to control. I appreciate his comments, but I hope he realizes that R is not much/any better than the D. That said, changing your affiliation to Independent, while a good idea on principle, is political suicide.

We can hope he sees a rising liberty movement in the Republican party and that he'll help that grow. Let's watch him and hope!

Vetting Starts Here

State Senator Guillory's voting record.

Note: Senator Guillory is a politician in a Red state where the GOP disenfranchised 75% of their 2012 state delegates (Ron Paul supporters). Whether Senator Guillory's change of heart is sincere or not is unknown at this time but its obvious his plan is to capitalize on the anger of the disenfranchised GOP liberty delegates.

That's beaultfull my brother

How can we make this go viral...

The Black community needs a message like this coming from a Black Leader, maybe it'll get them to switch to republican then to a Ron Paul-Republican.

I hope this guy is a Ron Paul esk

type republican.

what i wrote just after the

what i wrote just after the primary was ending,

We should realize that our movement and community will become the most coveted source of donations and fundraising for up and coming politicians.

We will be viewed as cash cows, suckers and PREY by thousands of political climbers looking to appropriate the 'Ron Paul' name brand and wield Paulian rhetoric as a path to power....

This doesn't mean we are 100% purists, we do have to accept some degree of self-interest and maneuvering on the part of all politicians, but some degree of vetting is absolutely necessary to maintain the ideological focus of our ideas and the integrity of the Paul brand.

Who is this guy out of the woodwork, does he have any past?

Rand should reach out to this gentleman...

Or perhaps he already has, since he's been tring to find ways to reach out to the black community.

That is a very good possibility...

considering the music that was playing as he was talking :-)

How about a money bomb link for this Gentleman?

I'll donate $20.13 to show him my support.

Just a suggestion

The good Senator seems to be doing fine on his own. Hopefully he will reach others, in the position that he is already in.

So, how about donating that 20.13 to Ben Swann #LibertyIsRising? If you already have, that additional 20.13 will help even more. After all, Ben has been with us, and is heading this up for us.

Well, that is only a suggestion :-)

If only those of us who are already INSIDE the Liberty Movement are "pure" enough for some of you people, WE WILL NEVER GROW.

Share the damn video and be thankful that the Liberty Movement suddenly has such a wonderful ambassador to people who are currently languishing on Uncle Sugar's plantation.

Yeah well ...

I figured as much before I even read the comments. It is what it is ..

He's a politician. He's swapping from one half of the devil to the other. /obvious

As a politician we (people on the board who are 100% positive of this) know that carefully calculated words on professionally shot videos with the tiniest hint of emotional piano notes tastefully dropped in the background don't go all that far.

I liked the spirit of a lot of what he said. I did actually anticipate the obligatory Lincoln shoutout and he didn't disappoint.
But I let it pass.

The beauty of it is that time will tell.

Now we watch what he does, that's all. The internet makes it easy.

Loved it.

Except, the pubs at the top are not the answer. Getting away from the dumb down party is a start.

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

emaciated herman cain FTW.

seriously if i was a black politician/crook id have realized a decade ago that the premium on being black repub drwarfed that of being a black democrat.

also if i was a big boobed blonde same thing.

between the dearth of actual black repubs on the market and the sappy, credulous willingness of tea party/gop to latch onto any black super hero with a constitution, i'd be rolling in it.

Great speech! The objection,

Great speech!

The objection, of course, is "Yeah but what have Republicans done for us lately?" He touched on it, but I think they really need to hear more about what less welfare and less govt intrusion would do for them, and why those programs keep them down and make life harder in the long run.

Very good critique

of his former political party. Thoroughly enjoyed hearing it.

Pity at this stage of the game he hasn't figured out or isn't interested in acknowledging that his new found party of inspiration and liberation has been steadily abandoning the ideals he espouses for decades now and is just a more muddled, weaker, less unified version of what he is leaving.

Would have been impressed if he had the political courage/integrity/intelligence to reject both sides of the same counterfeit coin.

Wow. Powerful speech and great video!

It's great to see people learn, grow and understand these powerful ideas and the spirit of liberty and it's even greater when you have someone who can so eloquently express them.

I'm not a fan of Lincoln, the 14th amendment, or the Republican party for that matter, but in this video he mentions an economy free from government persuasion, a free press, and freedom from a surveillance state... I think he's not just a Republican, he's really a liberty Republican!
