The best 4 minutes in the history of cinema!

The motion picture "V For Vendetta" is nearly 10 years old, but this scene becomes more relevant every day. Call this a "blast from the past"!

And the Wachowskis "Cloud Atlas" is just as good, and even better in certain aspects, and needs to be seen at least twice to more fully understand (The late Rodger Ebert had to see it again before he wrote his review last year.) Here is on of many great scenes...

And the Cloud Atlas extended trailer(viral with about 12 million views.)

Both films are about freedom and a "must" for your collection. As is the latest "Star Trek" when it hits the DVD market.

While I loved V for Vendetta,

While I loved V for Vendetta, I was not as fond of Cloud Atlas. It's probably worth checking out on Netflix, but I found the movie to be awkward and muddled, and the scenes with Tom Hanks and Halle Berry speaking that terrible English dialect were almost unwatchable.

just watched cloud atlas

movie didn't make a bit of sense,,,, and really just seemed stupid and dumb,,,,, just an incoherent high priced 2 star dud

anyone watch house of cards on Netflix,,,,,, loved it,,,,, and it seems it would be how Washington works

watching newsroom season 1 now

I felt the same

when I first saw it. But I saw Cloud Atlas again and with the liberty and freedom in mind. Great movie with 6 stories and a common narrrative. It was refreshing, ambitious and original. The film is not for somebody who likes to think. Give it another shot!

Cloud atlas is a movie to watch a few time

excellent movie and VERY powerful message of ideas transcending time

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

haven't seen cloud atlas yet,

haven't seen cloud atlas yet, but v for vend is cheesy, predictable, standard issue socialist themed prop, the 'evil right wing' fascist govt defeated by faceless socialist mob in the streets... if you identify with the spirit of that kind of thing, you suck.

Bill

You're off the mark here. While the theme of the movie was openly authoritarian, more openly "right" authoritarian, I see no evidence of a socialist message. More a message of liberty and that ideas are more powerful than any government.

maybe i just don't like the

maybe i just don't like the masks. and if a mob of 100,000 dreary drab grey people wearing the same mask doesn't have socialist undertones, i don't know what does. aesthetics are powerful, and the aesthetics of the film are powerfully repellant, to me.

hrmm

Interesting thoughts, I guess I had just never seen it that way. I saw the masks as a representation of V. And V as he said of himself in the movie, wasn't a man, but an idea.

I guess I see your point though. Thanks for the alternative point of view.

"Socialist themed"?

I am sorry you still fall into that phoney left/right paradigm, and have to resort in juvenile name calling. You might want to return to the "Daily Santorum". Oh yeh, dont wast your time with Cloud Atlas. It will be to complicated.

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!

the rep dem paradigm might be

the rep dem paradigm might be phony, but the left right one hardly is. but i presume you wouldnt know the difference, you prob broke your political virginity on santorum which is why ur still mentioning his name when everyone else forgot about him.

Sorry about

having to correct you again, but the Rep/Dem paradigm IS phoney, as is the left/right liberal/conservative. They are just tools to divide people And I likely been involved in the liberty movement longer than you have been alive, and was at the RNC last August as a delegate supporting Ron Paul (and Buchanan in '96). Sorry for cursing by using the "S" word.

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!

well to each his own i guess,

well to each his own i guess, don't wanna wrangle with an old timer, even a slow learner.

Right on.

If we can focus on what we have in common (liberty and peace), then we the people WILL prevail in defeating this monster which wills only to enslave us all (which is one of the many narratives of the film). I may be a slow learner(to you), but am still a lot faster then many from my generation!

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!

heh i actually softened up

heh i actually softened up when you mentioned you'd backed pjb. pours a glass of scotch

I am getting a bit

old for the hard stuff, but red wine is good. I even liked Goldwater as a young tyke, though JFK was not a bad alternative (but Johnson WAS).

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!

May as well add

"Braveheart", and "The Matrix" to the list. Any others?

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!
