*UPDATE and REPORT* Going to private round table discussion with Rand Paul.

**UPDATE** My Report on Private Meeting with Rand. **

Here's pic of me and Rand.

See my post below dated 7/4/13. The gist is that I asked if Rand (or somebody from his campaign) would answer ALL your questions here at this very post. He quickly agreed, and said he'd like to make that happen, and maybe even do a special web event with the Daily Paul. Due to time constraints, I was able to ask only one question and you can see his response below (I think it's on the second to last page). My reply is date 7/4.

Original Post:

I've paid some money to attend a July 3rd private luncheon with Rand Paul here in Scott County (Georgetown), KY. I'll be one of 20 people. We are able to ask Rand any questions we'd like.

If anybody wants a question asked, please let me know, and I'll plan on asking him directly. And I will definitely mention the Daily Paul.

I've been coming to the DP for 5 years, 5 months (at least), and this is my first post.

If you have any question you're itching to ask Rand, here's your chance.

Thank you Underdog. I'd be

Thank you Underdog. I'd be all for a Q&A even though I know most of his positions already.

Question for a mod: I know this isn't the DailyRand but is there any way we could frontpage this thread so it doesn't die?

BRAVO Underdog!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!

That's a GREAT picture of you and Rand! Very Awesome!!!!!

I think it's was an honor for you to sit next to Rand. That had to feel great to be actually sitting next to the future president of the USA, and one we can be proud of.

Thank you for delivering my question about hemp. I've been a hemp activist since 1993// 20 years wow.. I really look forward to getting answers because my questions were based on decades of meetings with farmers, mills, congresscritters, state officials, and lobbiests. It's an important question that we all want an answer to move forward.

I'm stoked for you and I hope that I too one day get to sit next to Rand Paul like you did.

BRAVO TO YOU!!! THANK YOU from me, NO APATHY.

Thanks.

I hope that all the questions will get answered. And thanks for your work on hemp. Looks like your perseverance is paying off as the awareness of the great uses of hemp has been increasing dramatically esp the last year or so.

I'm even drinking non-GMO hemp protein shakes now, as it's the only protein shake that doesn't screw up my digestive process. I found good products at www.hempusa.org, which advertises on the Alex Jones Show.

My Report from the 7/3/13 Private Round Table with Rand

I sat right next to him during the private round table discussion where about 25-30 people were in attendance. I only had a few moments as there were a lot of people asking questions.

I got to sit directly beside him. I led off by mentioning the Daily Paul. I told him and the small gathering that the blog and website is dedicated to the restoration of constitutional government and he has a lot of supporters and activists who are willing to support him, esp in Iowa (as indicated in a post on this thread). As I spoke of the DP, he smiled with an "of course I know of the DP" twinkle in his eye, and "boy, you guys sure do get around".

I passed along to him our thanks and said to keep up the good work.

I held up several sheets of paper, and told him that I had 13 pages of good questions from the Daily Paul, and that I knew there wouldn't be time to ask them. So therefore I asked him if he would be willing to personally visit the website and answer the questions or have a spokesman answer them for him.

To that he replied approvingly. He immediately motioned to a lady standing to the side, and introduced me to her, the Deputy State Director, and publicly requested her to work with me (or the DP) to pull off a special web event where questions from the DP would be addressed. He asked if I would give the questions to her (which I did), and then to work out a way to do something like a Twitter Q&A (I think was what he said) or something interactive where people's questions would be addressed. He was very accommodating and willing and desirous to see that this event take place.

Later as we left the room and walked down the hallway, I told him and his deputy state director that Michael Nystrom would probably enthusiastically welcome his campaign's interaction with the DP.

Back to my report... At the round table Q&A where I was sitting next to him, I told him I wouldn't have time to ask all these questions from the Daily Paul, so I picked one question that really challenged me to ask it. The question was from AtlantaIconoclast at this link, and he challenged me, "Please have the balls to ask these questions." My reply can be found at that link too.

Closing Observations of Rand at this meeting: he was a very good listener. He never interrupted and then answered each question as concisely as he could. He was gracious and interested in what the problems of Scott County were. He even knew some of what was going on in our county that most people wouldn't know, so he had done some homework.

As for Rand's answer -

A recording of his answer to your one question to him concerning foreign aid would have been nice. Still thank you for your effort to put real issues to him.

Putting Rand or any of them on record at every opportunity should be the goal at every turn, at every event we attend. Participative Citizen media is our only hope to inform others now with near complete media capture by TPTB.

We should not be too polite even with those we see as potential allies in the fight to restore the Republic. And, especially with those who would propose to be leaders among us... " Feet to the fire men, feet to the fire.

Good work, but you misspoke

Later as we left the room and walked down the hallway, I told him and his deputy state director that Michael Nystrom would probably enthusiastically welcome his campaign's interaction with the DP.

Not really. The Daily Paul is not going to be the Daily Rand. I've already made that clear. What I did for Ron Paul was a one thing, but it isn't like it is just transferable.

In the future, please do not speak on my behalf.

If you want to coordinate a twitter event and advertise it here, that is fine by me. But as for myself, I'm not in the market for any volunteer work.

Knock yourself out and have fun!

He's the man.

Sorry Michael!

I was thinking that this would be good for the Daily Paul as well. I thought it was win-win. But I understand Rand is not Ron, and I understand I do not speak for you, there certainly was no intention, and I'm 100% certain that Rand or his staff didn't take it that way. Gosh, I guess I put my foot in my mouth.

I need some guidance here. Rand said that he'd be willing to get the questions answered. What's your suggestion for accomplishing that? I don't even know what a twitter event is. I'd be happy to coordinate something, but my original thought was just to have someone from Rand's campaign answer the question on this thread, and interact with folks asking questions.

I thought that would be good for Rand's cause, and since he's a constitutional conservative, he'll find a lot of supporters here at the DP.

In summary, it sounds like you're okay with the DP being involved, but if you get involved you would need to be paid some type of fee, is that right?

Also, how do I send you (or any other DP member) a private message via the DP? I've received private messages before, but I don't know how to send them?

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

I totally agree Michael.

Even though Rand has some priciples and stands for Liberty, he is far from Ron Paul. This site is to relate with other for the cause of Liberty, Free Markets, and the fight of reestablishing the Constitutional Republic. Those who are diehard Rand supporters should be using the principles talked about on the Daily Paul and take action by calling, emailing, and writing Rand to push him in the direction we need to go. Those who can't handle people calling out Rand's statist positions, should be taking note, and taking action to let Rand know you disagree, instead of just attacking the messenger. I mean, when Rand takes the stance to disreguard the rule of law and grant amnesty to illegals, so they can 'become taxpayers' ie slaves to the ultimate ponzi scheming Fed, his supporters should be relaying their displeasure for disreguard from the rules of law made to protect the sovereignty of our Republic, and the praise of enslaving more people into 'tax paying' to pay usury to the Fed and run 'Big Government' programs. Rand supporters should be pushing him to use 'Free Market' solutions, like ending the incentives of the welfare state, repealing the outdated 14th Amendment, ending the Fed and IRS, etc. If you want to go along with his 'alleged' compromises, most state as 'playing politics', start a website for him, although their are already thousands of these 'conservative' sites promoting the same
statist positions, with a hint of Constitutional principles.

WAR

Hold on a minute.

I dont understand Michael. Do you mean you dont welcome interaction with the Rand 2016 campaign?

I dont think that that means you doing any work or giving it any endorsement. The way I see it George Brikho and Derrick Grayson have been using this site or have had this site used for their campaigns. If either of them wanted to hold a Q&A here, would you be opposed?

What would be the problem with treating Rand Paul the same way? I understand that you dont need any legitimization and neither does your site. But alot of people have alot of questions and this website has the earned a reputation.

Just a note: That question that was asked, that could have been my question. I have never had more access to answers from people in power than right now, and it's thanks to you site. Thank you for what you have done for me and thousands of us who were quickly Losing hope.

I understand that you dont like having your name thrown around without having it run by you, but please reconsider your line in the sand. This is really beneficial to the liberty community.

People can do whatever they want

If people want to hold a Q&A here, that is fine with me.

But I take offense when people speak on my behalf, and they should not do it. This is my main point.

My second point is to again clarify, to those who think that the DP is going to become Act III of Paul for President, to look elsewhere for that, because I'm not interested in doing that.

While I'm at it, my third point is I hate it when people volunteer me for things because they're "sure I wouldn't mind." This is closely related to point #1: Don't speak on my behalf. What gives people the confidence do do such a thing is beyond me.

Again, everyone has their path and their journey: Me, you, the underdog, Rand Paul himself. What I would like to do is encourage everyone to pursue that path and journey as they see fit, but don't assume that you can just draft others into your own plan.

I hope I'm not coming across as a jerk. It has just happened so often in the past that it is really tiresome to me. Sometimes people take it personally if I don't want to be part of their great plan, and then they start to attack me because of it.

I just hope we can all be more mature about it this time around.

Thank you for listening, and for your kind words.

He's the man.

Let me clarify.

Michael, I specifically told them I do not represent the DP. I told them, however, that there were many questions from astute people at the DP at this thread, and told them that there were lots of supporters.

I never said I spoke for you. You saw what I said, I said I thought you would welcome somebody from Rand's campaign answering DP members' questions. I never said that you were a huge Rand supporter.

As the founder here, was I wrong in that you would enthusiastically welcome more website traffic?

But I'm glad that you make your point. It's helpful to understand your position. I and others must never represent you or "draft" you, as you said, in their cause. I think it's fair for you to say what you've said, which I think is:

1) Rand's organization is welcome to the DP and to do the Q&A (I'm not sure of the format, but the "welcome" is here from you).
2) This is not Rand's site, anymore than it was Ron's site. Ron Paul himself frequently said not to have allegiance to any man, but to the principles of Freedom, the Constitution.

Again, my apologies if it sounded like I was drafting you for work in Rand's campaign. Heck, I'm not even a campaigner for him, but of all the candidates, I do like him the best, though I remain suspicious of how politically correct and politically friendly he'll be with the PTB. I will judge him by his works, as we all should.

At least, the folks at his campaign, who undoubtedly are reading this, now understand you a little more, and realize they could use this thread to answer questions -- OR, even consider spending some advertising money for some extra promotion. But perhaps they ALREADY did understand you, as it appears your views on the subject weren't private. I can at least say I understand you better.

Where is the LOVE?

He said DP not MN. Isn't DP a community with some people who support Rand? People who do not support Rand even had questions.

Just as a reminder

Can you ask if he knows who his dad would've chosen as VP?

Do you believe our national

Do you believe our national security is at risk if we do not support Israel? Obama has said this before but did not explain why. Samson option?

3 short ones

- the future of the audit the fed bill
- the campaign to end the tsa
- ending the "war on drugs"

Healthcare--Lowering the Cost.

If he really supports getting the government out of healthcare...I mean 100% out? Without government involvement I would be able to get any lab test ordered without a MD ordering it. I would be able to get any drug the store owner chooses to sell me. Does he support that?

will he take a lie detector

will he take a lie detector test?

i support him, but id like to know for sure whether hes playing the kind of game id play for a greater end, or if hes just a sell out.

we probably won't get to know that unless he wins, and i will support him. but it sucks not really knowing.

the point of my tongue in cheek answer is that there's no point asking him anything because he's in full politician mode, and the answers will be a politician's calculated answers, even if hes a good sincere guy.

Why did you endorse Mitt Romney,

When your father was still actively campaigning for President? I would not like to vote for him without a satisfactory answer to that.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

No.7's picture

You've been a member at the DP for 5 years

I remember seeing the private youtube video of Ron Paul telling us he didn't have the delegates to win right here on the DP shortly after the California primary. I believe it was June 7th 2012, that Rand endorsed the Republican nominee Mitt Romney for President over the incumbent President Obama.

Rand Paul supported Ron Paul over Mitt Romney in the republican primary. Rand Paul supported Mitt Romney over Barack Obama in the general election.

Got it?

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

He didn't. Ron had already

He didn't. Ron had already sent out an email saying that he had no statistical chance to win the GOP nomination.

Linda Cross's picture

.Yeah,

sucks, doesn't it?

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

Why did you endorse Mitch McConnell?

The complete opposite of a Liberty / Freedom / Constitution / small government supporter.

Why did you send Trygve Olsen into your father's HQ?
Trygve Olsen undoubtedly sabotaged Ron Paul's campaign in cahoots with Jesse Benton.

Benton has now gone to work for the Fascist McConnell.

Tyyge Olsen originally worked for McConnell before he worked on Rand's campaign for the Senate.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

I know that answer. Mitch was

I know that answer. Mitch was one of the first to actively support Rand. It was surprising, but he did. Rand had to return that favor.

Does Rand agree that the NSA's Mass Surveillance programs

are making EVERY American less safe and are an existential threat to our Democracy?

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Rand seems to be v under informed about the NSA Mass

Surveillance programs.

Why doesn't he read up about it?
There is lots of info on my blog for example.

He is completely under stating the threat to Freedom and Democracy that the NSA Stasi style surveillance poses.

It is not only against the 4th amendment.
It is against the FIRST amendment.
People are being intimidated against speaking out against the government, that is the whole idea - to suppress dissent.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Why do you not want to end the "War on Drugs"

Illegal drugs massively increase corruption, violence and criminality.
Why does he not use the slogan "Cops say legalize drugs - ask me why?

See Law Enforcement Against Prohibition - LEAP.

It also INCREASES the number of hard drug addicts and thus the levels of property crime.

Quite apart from the fact that it costs the taxpayer $200bn a year.

Rand said he only supported lighter sentencing not ending the drugs war.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Great feedback. Thanks! Keep it up.

I'm amazed my first post made it to the Front Page of the Daily Paul. Cooool! Thanks, the extra exposure has helped in gathering good questions.

Because there are so many questions, what I'll do is ask the ones that have the highest vote totals, so please review the questions here and vote up the questions you like the most. And I'll ask as many as I can. I'm guessing I'll be limited to 2-4 questions due to others asking questions as well. But then I'll hand him a printout of the other questions, and ask if I can get his written response via one of his staffers or perhaps himself directly as time permits.

I'll see how he wants to handle the other questions from the DP. I'm sure he'll be interested in reading the questions and comments from the "choir".

Thank you, fellow members of the Daily Paul!

Here is another

Rand Paul you have such a deep suport for Ixreal and you do support the Jewish claim to ansestral homland and a right to return.

Do you support the same exact right for the American Indian to claim your land. Your land that you have deed to that your family lives on.?

If you do not have double standards you must start a movement for the American Indian to return to there ansestral lands, perhaps you can start by signing your property over to an indian nation.

Double standards mr Paul?

What is it the jews have a righ to IxUnreal and so do the American Indian. Or Not. Is it just another political ploy like your betrayal of your father? Just show support for IzUnreal but not realy supporting them? you know a political tactic like endorsing the enemy?

sovereign

Here is one

Many of Ron Paul suporters would have supported you, Rand. But you sold them down the river by endorsing Mitt Romeny.

Some speculate that this was political tactics.

Others including myself view that as a stab in the back and can nor will ever trust you again.

What Rand would you say to those who you betrayed and cant support you because of it?

But that question will never be ask because its real. We got to only ask phony questions that are meaningless. Like Rand are you going to run for president in 2016.

sovereign
