I think he said

LMAO not IMAO it means Laughing My Ass Off (I think)

I'm not religious but I do recall the Bible saying,

"Judge not lest ye be judged."

People around here don't like it when

the media takes Ron Paul's words out of context, but people around here have no problem taking other folks' words out of context.

Disgraceful

It's horrible to have men like this who want to love God spreading hate. They quote Isaiah 58:1

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

This says show MY people their sin. This is telling the believer that we should be convicting one another of our sins, within God's church. Within the body of Christ. There is no proclamation that I know of in the scripture that says, walk through the streets and tell everyone every sin they're committing.

Christ said, Matthew 28:19

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We do this by proclaiming the Gospel, that Christ was an atoning sacrifice for our sins. That all we need do is accept him. Yes, repent of sin, but to proclaim sin with words that are clearly inflammatory are insane and unbiblical.

1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

How on earth could these men say they are giving an answer for the hope within them with gentleness and respect??

appropriate choice of word

I can actually tolerate their personal hatred, but they certainly cross a distinct line as they claim, "God hates fags!" I've never read such a thing in the Bible. Perhaps the scripture does imply that God "hates" homosexual behavior. He would as such hate lying and thievery, but not thieves and liars. The scripture also points out that none of these behaviors are greater in sin than the others. Brand didn't go very far with these points, and that was his shortfall. He appeared to be too busy making mockery and lathering up his audience as would Jerry Springer [not my bag!].

I yearned for Brand to ask his guests, "Do you approve of your children using tobacco? No? If you caught your twelve year old smoking cigarettes, would you punish him? Yes? Does your Bible tell you to hate your child?"

I see what you're saying

The scriptures do say that God hates sinful man. Brand is just not the man for the job, he's very smart, but as is the case with most non Christians, they understand virtually nothing about Christianity. So doesn't have any way to really call them out.

Where there is a choice

We are all born in sin. No matter how difficult it is to choose one way over another there remains a right choice or a wrong choice. Skin color is not sinful because there isn't a choice but homosexuality is a choice.
Also, Jesus said to the scribes, you traverse land and sea to make one proselyte, then you make him twice more the child of hell than yourselves. Jesus did not send the 70 to go after the people. He sent them to make themselves available. He said we are the salt of the earth which means the way we live seasons the lives of others and He said we are the light of the world which means by living the correct way the stumbling blocks become clear to those who may see such a life in action for we all have free will and we all must reap as we sew.
We as Christians are restricted because we are dead to the sinful ways but those who are on the outside are free to do as they wish because sin is their way of life.
The warning is, there certainly is hell and there is a heaven and we certainly reap as we sew. Does God love homosexuals, yes! but it isn't God that puts you in hell. You put yourselves in that condition.

your right.

Yes being gay is a choice. Just like being straight is a choice. So if two straight people are mating and they are not married are as bad as two guys screwing. BOTH EXAMPLES I GAVE ARE SIN! My question is why don't these bigots talk about straight fornication? The answer to that question is they hate gays NOT GOD! I am sick of so called born again Christians using Gods word for their bigotry!

also if two married people do.....

Anal sex or oral sex. They are sinning because that is the act of sodomy. So if these so called Christians better not let their wife give them a bj. While their priest rape little boys.

UGH

So if I don't like that style of life with all it's ugliness I am the bad guy but if I do like it I'm on the in crowd? That isn't exactly true. All people have the right to choose and I am expressing my right. You have the god given right to do anything you choose to do. Never-the-less there is a reaction to every action. Living outside the laws of nature does have it's consequences. You have a choice in what you do but you don't have a choice in what you get back. So I will wear my bigotry as a badge of honor.

Yay, you jerks outright

Yay, you jerks outright deleted my comment for saying I was a fan of their work. I simply said they focus too much on gay people. I guess I can't use the word fag here? No, don't go and edit out words you want to see, just delete the whole damn thought, and especially don't tell a person that they've been censored!

Notice the Westboro Church

feeling uncomfortable when Russel sits by them and touches them.

Those guys had a very troubling childhood.

His name is Edward Snowden

how do you know they had a troubling childhood?

brand has described his childhood as isolated and lonely.[7] When he was seven, he was sexually abused by a tutor.

Easy Assumption

Personally, I'm uncomfortable if ANYONE invades my 3 foot personal bubble.

Russell's open sexual innuendo style would make me nervous to be within 10 feet of him, call me a prude. ;)

The Touch Of Another Human

The easy answer seems to be to NOT let 'another human' have any type of intercourse with you, whether it be social, anonymous, in freibdship, or (OOH, EVIL!) 'sexual'.

Don't worry, no one wants to invade YOUR OWN PERSONAL BUBBLE of 'PROTECTION' from HUMANITY.

Isn't there some psychologial term that defines the 'fear of other people'?
'Feral Cat Syndrome', or something?

Go ahead, and isolate yourself from us 'humans' (homosexual, heterosexual, or otherwise). MAINTAIN your 'space'. DO NOT INTERACT, at ANY COST!
YOUR PERSONAL BUBBLE of 'SAFETY' is ALL-IMPORTANT!

Lighten up just a bit?

I feel you took that way too seriously. In a public place, I do prefer to maintain a space around myself. A television show with Russell Brand, I would consider a public place, and I don't personally know Russell Brand.

Brand is certainly not shy about using sexual innuendo to make people uncomfortable, it seems to be part of his style.

People I consider brothers and sisters (by blood and choice) I have no problem touching: shaking hands, hugging, sitting close, whatever the social situation calls for. My sexuality is not challenged by a man touching me, as it seemed for at least one of Brand's guests.

Preferring to maintain personal space around strangers isn't the "god help you" moment you seek, sorry. ;)

If someone you don't know, comes up close behind you, and your not standing in a line, waiting for something, you don't go just a little "on guard"? It's said that God looks out for fools and children.

Peace.

How it works

I don't see how Russell schooled them. I'm not a big fan of the Westboro Church's methods but their message is correct. The people pushing this immorality are doing the bidding of our masters. They fear Christianity which is why they constantly demonized Christianity in the press. This is the litmus test for truth in our society, If the media demonizes or praises the person or group, then it must be the opposite(i.e. Southerners, Joe McCarthy were right yet painted as monsters. Abe Lincoln and FDR are praised and yet were the worst presidents.)

See how this works...

I disagree, Liberal outlets

I disagree, Liberal outlets do but they just want to help polarize America to divide and conquer. Just go to FOX and you will see all sorts of Christian promoting such as the "War on Christmas". Bush got elected on his "Christian" stance and even Obama pretended to be Christian to be vetted among voters. A large percentage of Americans are sheep Evangelicals that will follow any preacher or politician with a cross.

If the DP wants to create a new Republic we need to realize that while we all hold dear the values of Liberty, Peace and Personal Responsibility, we are all going to have differences and need to be tolerant of each other. That is why we are a Republic, if Christians want a state with Christian values then they can move there and if people want to live in a State with different beliefs they can do likewise. At the end of the day though we need to focus on the important issues of Liberty and not what divides us. The foundation of a Republic is respect for our fellow man for while we have different beliefs, we both recognize our free will to hold such beliefs and never to try to subvert that free will of each other.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

God or Tyrants

The mainstream media and mainstream tv shows consistently demonize Christianity everyday. You choose not to see it because you clearly harbor resentment towards Christians. It comes through in your writing.

A true Republic can not function without religious organizations taking the lead in the welfare of the poor. This is how the US was intended to operate, and what gave individuals in America a sense of community and homogeneity. This is something Atheists (who are primarily liberals) don't seem to comprehend or don't want to. They wouldn't want to go hat in hand to a religious organization for help because they hate those who find solace in faith. This is demonstrated everyday in these forums.

A Republic is completely dependent on a people of faith. In our case, Christianity. If people are not there to help others in a community, the government will be used as such, which inevitably leads to tyranny.

"Those who will not be Governed by God will be Ruled by Tyrants”
- William Penn

You do make some good points

You do make some good points and I think we can reach some common ground here regarding charitable (religious or otherwise) organizations being in charge of providing for the poor rather than our Federal government. Further, I agree that Atheism can lead to living a less humble self-centered life. A Republic is dependent on people that believe they have free will and recognize that we do not have the right to take others free will.

If you are a Christian and believe that God gave you that free will despite being the ultimate power in the universe then that is a well-chosen path to uphold your values of a Republic and in my opinion a beautiful archetypal allegory.

I do hold resentment to the Christian organization and its corruption and atrocities committed in its name throughout history from the Inquision that tortured and killed thousands of people to the wiping out of indigenous cultures. Once empires spread, they use the sword first to conquer people then they use the Cross to wipe out their culture and beliefs to keep them perpetually subdued. In America we have seen the rise of Evangelicalism that focuses on fear and submission rather than spiritual growth which is a great concern to me, especially when it is mixed with politics. We must have faith yes, but the Universe was created in perfect mathematical balance so too then our reason must be employed at all times and religion should never be a subversion of our reason.

If you are a genuine Christian and choose to live your life based on what Jesus taught, I have great respect for that. Jesus was a great spiritual guide and his words and allegories contain much wisdom. My concern is that our society is propagating a form of Christianity that has fallen away from the virtues of Jesus and focuses on group mentality and fear for their and other souls in which they can be manipulated to fit political agendas.

Our government is smart, they know the more fabricated divisions they can create the more energy we spend fighting each other rather than uniting against them. On one hand they promote a militant form of Christianity for the "Right" and on the other they demonize it and promote Atheism for the "Left". At the end of the day we perpetually fight among ourselves rather than unite under the sacredness of our Free Will, regardless our path that we take to realize it.

This Thomas Jefferson Quote sums up my beliefs well:

To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others; ascribing to himself every human excellence; & believing he never claimed any other.--Letter to Benjamin Rush (12 April 1803)

I did give your comment an upvote btw, It bothers me here that people scan threads and downvote posts they disagree with without giving a response. Respectful discourse is a very important aspect of the Daily Paul and downvoting based on disagreement rather than a post being abrasive etc. goes against that.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Just because you go to school and get schooled doesn't

mean you have to learn.

"A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote to keep things the same", Buckminster Fuller..
A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.

I don't agree with them..

Anyone that points out another person and says they are going to hell...even if it is an opinion is automatically suspect to me. No man can say that...especially with a straight face! Maybe your on the road to hell, but it doesn't mean you will end up there! Only God knows this! They were even happy in "their" knowledge of who they thought was going to hell!! Does that sound like God to you? I think there is a great misconception of hell, the lake of fire, eternity, and many other biblical teachings.

Fear knocked on my door and Faith answered!

more on the subject

yeah we should all just hate the "fags"

and all will be ok in the world! fucking moron

you obviously didn't read the article

which is about free speech. just another knee jerk poster with the attention span of a three year old. had you at least scrolled you would have see this pull quote and gotten a clue.

“One should always be free to speak, but one should always have the option not to listen.”

as a gay man please tell me why i would

want to click on a link that talks about the "inalienable right" to call me a fag??

Not very polite/smart of you, REGARDLESS of the "point" the article makes.

your wrong.

They have a right to speech as gay people do. Don't you want strait people listen to the gay community point of view? What do you think straight people think when gays call people breeders or worse. I heard a lot of anti straight comments at gay pride. Both sides have a first amendment right to be a bigot. The constitution is what freedom is all about. As a gay christian I am sick of what some churches are doing to spread their bigotry. But I would fight and die for their right to say it. IF YOU CAN'T LOOK AT POINT OF VIEW THAT YOU DON'T LIKE, THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! The First Amendment is not there to protect popular speech!
