Armed Carjacker meets Armed Citizen

(No Sound on the video)

This happens just the way it should happen...Bad Guy DRT (dead right there). Too bad the second guy didn’t also get it....he was drawing his handgun when the shooting started.

It's a good thing this building had a video or it would be another Travon Martin case for this guy...

Mark one up for the ARMED CITIZEN.

I just love stories with happy endings!

Even with a knife that guy

Even with a knife that guy could have defended himself. The burgler was obviously an amatuer though hoping he could scare the guy into giving up. You dont get that close to someone where they can just grab the gun.
Luckly, he had a gun of his own and ended up saving people alot of money.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Citizenry May be Armed

I did not watch the video. I think the main lesson, here, is, if you knew there was a strong chance that even little old ladies would be armed, would you choose to be a carjacker?

Guns are equalizers. They give women and the weak a fighting chance.

Knowing that the population can easily and legally protect themselves with one, is what reduces violence before it starts. Predators and parasites look for weak targets.

This kind of incident wouldn't have to happen very often before the bad guys gave up the idea of robbery and assault -- they'd go somewhere elso where the citizenry is unarmed, end up in jail, or take up ponzi schemes instead. In other words, loss of life would be reduced.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

How about a broader view here?

You wrote true enough, "Guns are equalizers. They give women and the weak a fighting chance." How about giving even strong men more options than just limbs vs. arms?

Even the unarmed are somewhat protected by the doubt factor of who may or may not be carrying; unless they look and/or act like a victim by their words and body language.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

Look at Chicago

What the government doesn't want people to know is study after study suggests that where firearms are not heavily regulated there's a lower crime rate as opposed to heavy regulation of firearms and higher crime rates.

Chicago is an excellent example. I wonder when the people of Chicago are going to wise up and toss the bum Rahm Emanuel out on his backside. He should be charged with accessory to murder, before and after the fact.

this was in Venezuela, not

I didn't realize the socialist republic of Venezuela

would allow citizens to be armed.

A shock to be honest...and I am sure as that country slips more in authoritarian rule they will lose there right to be armed soon.

Does it matter?

A few Notes.... THIS SHOULD BE on the FRONT PAGE

THIS SHOULD BE on the FRONT PAGE and here's why!!

An armed Citizen with the ability to use their weapon is superior to an armed Cop. Because the Citizen doesn't want a badge and does NOT get paid to act responsibly in protecting Life, Liberty and Property!

1:) Q) Why did we NOT see this on National News?
A) Because this PROVES that armed Citizens CAN & SHOULD defend themselves when an armed "thug" or "thugs" try to do harm to the potential victim. If stuff like this was reported on MORE frequently then maybe other potential "thugs" would think differently about being a thug.

2:) As sad as it is to see someone die, THIS SHOULD BE front page material because this shows the REAL WORLD way things CAN GO DOWN. And it should be a learning lesson for ALL OF US in HOW we should react in a similar situation. Since it's on the front page, it will get ample exposure as it SHOULD!

3:) This proves that you SHOULD ALWAYS carry your sidearm with you EVERYWHERE you go, because you NEVER KNOW when you will need it. Not leave it in the car or somewhere else.

4:) More people like this armed Citizen, killing an armed thug WOULD end much of the crime today as we know it. Hypothetically, if mostly all people were armed, you would NOT have thugs randomly pulling these kinds of stunts. Once the thugs see their other fellow thugs dead bodies piling up, THEY MIGHT NOT WANT TO be a thug much longer. I can only imagine the 2nd thugs reaction that WASN'T on camera finding out his thug friend was just shot dead. Because they were TOO CONFIDENT about the potential victim NOT having a gun. We have to change that perception! We WANT them to think that most of us are armed.

5:) Thank goodness for the PRIVATE Citizen's or whoever it belongs to security camera. (Notice I did not say Government security camera)

6:) Hard truth is, WE ARE ALL DEAD one day whether by old age or by accident or by violence or disease. That guy who was killed was killed BY HIS OWN CHOICE to TAKE A RISK on trying to do whatever he wanted to do to an ARMED person. I'm just sorry to see his friend get away. Because if they were both shot dead, that would be 2 less criminals on the street today instead of 1. This is WHY WE ALL NEED TO NOT BE PUSSY CATS when it comes to firearms. We need to learn how to use them, carry them and put them into action if the circumstance calls for it. Carrying a gun should be like carrying your car keys! That's how common it should be. It's better to have a WHOLE NATION OF ARMED CITIZENS WHO Always CARRY then a nation of people who rather just be a potential victim because they are too scared to defend themselves should the need arise. Because so many people are scared of "guns" and therefore scared to defend themselves, relying on 9-1-1 to save their lives if trouble arises. Those are the people who would sacrifice liberty for security and those are the people who also value breathing air more than liberty itself, willing to be a serf just to live another day in serfdom.

It sure beats having POLICE THUGS do the job WE ALL should be doing. Because, the police are WAYYYY out of hand today. And we would save a ton of money NOT NEEDED have the police who are hired anyway. They are technically just our "employees" although they sure don't act like it!

At least this is how I see things.

Here's a smiley face for all the DP'ers..... :) YAY!

For those who are complaining

For those who are complaining that someone most likely died in this video. I believe John Locke's 'Second Treatise of Civil Government - Of the State of War' put this video in the correct perspective.

"... it being reasonable and just, I should have a right to destroy that which threatens me with destruction: for, by the fundamental law of nature, man being to be preserved as much as possible, when all cannot be preserved, the safety of the innocent is to be preferred: and one may destroy a man who makes war upon him, or has discovered an enmity to his being, for the same reason that he may kill a wolf or a lion; because such men are not under the ties of the commonlaw of reason, have no other rule, but that of force and violence, and so may be treated as beasts of prey, those dangerous and noxious creatures, that will be sure to destroy him whenever he falls into their power.

And hence it is, that he who attempts to get another man into his absolute power, does thereby put himself into a state of war with him; it being to be understood as a declaration of a design upon his life: for I have reason to conclude, that he who would get me into his power without my consent, would use me as he pleased when he had got me there, and destroy me too when he had a fancy to it; for no body can desire to have me in his absolute power, unless it be to compel me by force to that which is against the right of my freedom ...

This makes it lawful for a man to kill a thief, who has not in the least hurt him, nor declared any design upon his life, any farther than, by the use of force, so to get him in his power, as to take away his money, or what he pleases, from him; because using force, where he has no right, to get me into his power, let his pretence be what it will, I have no reason to suppose, that he, who would take away my liberty, would not, when he had me in his power, take away every thing else. And therefore it is lawful for me to treat him as one who has put himself into a state of war with me, i.e. kill him if I can; for to that hazard does he justly expose himself, whoever introduces a state of war, and is aggressor in it."

It can be argued that our nation arose from the principles of Locke's 'Of the State of War', although the passages above outline how it might relate to you and a thief, the basic principle of making an appeal to heaven was established, making the choice to take the thief's life a matter of contention between you and God. The principle of an appeal to heaven was used as the backdrop of our revolutionaries forefathers. As they believed the crown had given them no other means of redress, that God had to be the final arbiter.

In this video, the driver saw the attack as a design against his life. He made the choice to make the ultimate appeal to the ultimate arbiter, and will be judged accordingly. Calling him a killer discounts the basic idea that we really don't know whether or not they would have killed him, if given the chance. It also discounts the reality that the driver would of had no recourse, no means of redress for any design upon his life. Death being final, the driver, in my opinion, was justified in killing the aggressor.

Great story!

don't touch whats not yours!

This is not something to put up on front page and have celebratory language all over.

A person

on United States soil defending his 4th amendment rights by using his 2nd amendment right isn't cause for celebration? Are you out of your mind?

it is not cause for celebration when anyone dies

absolutely not.

That sounds like

That sounds like something George W. Obama would say...
as he's signing the orders for the next drone kill mission.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

Sorry, my intentions were not to offend people who saw this video in a positive light. I can certainly see how that perspective exists

If the guy with the gun wanted him dead he could have ended it right when he first saw the gun. But was shot as he was running.. But then who knows? When you are in that situation what do you do, you don't have time to question the guy who just put a gun to your head and his intentions. Everything happens so fast. At the end of the day I am on the side of the person who was being carjacked. But My gripes aren't over the incident itself, I am a firm believer in the right to self defense and the 2nd amendment and the guy got what was coming to him. I just don't find the video as uplifting as others here do.

I just think its not something worth posting and showing off how wonderful it is that this took place and isn't it great to see a bad guy get shot and die. Its not great to watch anyone die. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing self defense with a gun, I just think it is . So I down voted the post.

this was in Venezuela, not

this was in Venezuela, not America. if it were in America it would have been on the news... they would report how the armed civilian was arrested for murder...

Does it really matter?

Coming in with Luna and Troy

who remind me after my tactical analysis that we just watched a man gunned down and probably slain. And this to common eyes should be shocking, horrifying, basically traumatic.

And having done what I have done kinda...normalizes this.

So what did I do? I got online with Luna to do a spontaneous CISD. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing because seeing stuff like this screws people up. It certainly does when it happens in front of you. It's kinda supposed to to see it like this.

There's this thing where I toughened up part of me so people like you wouldn't have to. Well if everybody toughens up, nobody needs people like me to be tough. But us tough guys (old school cop thing) well, you don't wanna get too tough. There's these telltales you gotta watch out for in your partner. And I'll tell you what it is.

The whole every scare-your-azz encounter that you psyche yourself up to, every time you realize you gotta get bigger and badder, well that's your fear talking to you. When you are afraid, everybody is your enemy right?

Does this speak to the situation at hand? Well it looks to me that the central dude had every reason to be afraid. I already issued my tactical two bits. That's not the point Luna and Troy are making.

You just watched a human being gunned down and he's probably not getting up. That wasn't a movie, that was the real thing. And that's not supposed to be OK. That's not what OK is. OK is pretty much when stuff like that doesn't happen.

Nuff said.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

It's not a question of "OK"

It's a question of worse vs better.

That would be car-jacker on the ground likely has a mom, and siblings, and friends who will all grieve their loss, but IT IS BETTER that a would be parasite dies rather than his intended prey! It is very very sad and disturbing, yes, but it is ALSO cause for CELEBRATING THE LIFE SAVED!

dynamite anthrax supreme court white house tea party jihad
to be continued

did i just watch somebody die?

this is not really cool, and not front page material.

thanks for the smut.

It is very sad to me that so

It is very sad to me that so many people think this story has a, "happy ending," or they, "love to watch robbers get blown away." There is nothing happy about this story. Justice, perhaps, but the killer, defending himself gains nothing, and there is a dead kid, who, in our present society was just succumbing to peer pressure. If he had been wearing a uniform and the same series of events transpired, he would be a soldier, "protecting of freedom." Nothing good or happy about that either.

Malo Periculosam Libertatem Quam Quietum Servitium
On y soit qui mal y pense

This kind of thinking is nothing more than

existential horse crap, having nothing to do with reality.

The civilian in the video, using deadly force against deadly force, is the reality. Why? Because when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

The celebratory aspect of this story is the innocent civilian survived a deadly situation created by another person who would have taken his life in a heartbeat.

I knew someone would call me on that.

One individual made the decision to rob another using a deadly weapon and paid for it with his life. Boo hoo. Yes it is a sad story. Sad that the defender had to deal with that bs situation in the first place. Sad that collectivists out there will be blaming society instead of the individual that committed the crime. I hope this video goes through every armed robber's mind before they decide to pull this crap, maybe it will save a life or two.
I don't know why you say if the robber had been wearing a uniform doing the same crime he would be protecting freedom? The last thing any armed robber wants to do, while they are forcing you to surrender your life or property, is protect your freedom.

Happy ending is relative

The defender did gain from the situation. He gained his personal safety and security in a situation he didn't initiate or have any control over.

I also agree that the entire situation is very sad. The young man initiating the situation is part of a machine that threw him away long ago, and I find that very sad.

Society is broken in a very fundamental way, IMO.

That being said, I find a situation where a man defending himself wins to be as happy an ending as possible, even if the force initiator loses his life.

Just open the box and see

ENTRADA = Spanish for Entrance.. probably not in the US, but still a good showing.

Saving money

He just save the State a ton of money.
He should receive a reward for his deeds, the bad guy got what he deserved.
One less bad guy on the streets.
Great job.

Smudge down.

1. The guy has SA, situational awareness, he's on alert. He double checks the building lock and he has the cam going, adding to this impression. He or whatever he's carrying is an HVT, high value target.

2. First gunman emerges like he has somebody across the street to our left signaling him. If he was listening for the door slam he would have been out the first time. I can see someone that might be this signal about about 29, near upper left hand corner, about 11:00, across street, moving between unknown barriers, displaying light colored object. This may be the person that later emerges and approaches the scene.

3. At that point the shooter is over focussed. Points for removing the attacker's weapon but he has an unknown walking up on his 9:00.

4. Heck of an over-the-shoulder shot. Seriously that was like AMAZING. Dude.

5. Yes that was an attempted carjacking not an attempted murder. Despite shooter's amazing reaction time, he might not have got off the first shot if attacker didn't want him alive for that period of time.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

I thought it was odd that guy

I thought it was odd that guy #3 nonchalantly strolled up next to the armed man with a dead body on the ground, and then the armed man turned his back to #3. It's like he expected the dead guy would jump up at any moment.

the two attackers drove by (in the silver coupe that appears to slow down and park as it makes the turn and disappears around the corner of the building) looking for a target. Sees a man leaving a business and decide to rob him. The robbers are amateurs and panic when the guy fights back and draws the gun
