CNN Ambush | Greenwald Calmly Rebuts: 'Oversight' guise is SYMBOLIC & EMPTY

"As far as the FISA court is concerned.. this is so crucial.. the NSA does not NEED individual warrants... to listen in on the communication or read the emails of American citizens when they're talking Internationally to people overseas... they go ONCE every six months to the FISA court... the FISA court rubber stamps these VAGUE guidelines.. ONCE THAT HAPPENS:
the NSA can force telecoms to give them WHATEVER THEY DEMAND under the 'guise' that the FISA court has 'blessed' their guidelines..

so this oversight that you're talking about does NOT involve looking over the shoulder of the NSA to see WHO they're spying or making sure they are not ABUSING their power... it's a very symbolic and empty oversight that really ought not give the assurance to ANYBODY that these powers are NOT being abused."

I do not believe the controlled media

I do not believe the majority of Americans are against Snowden. I firmly believe the majority believes he is a hero and so do I. The media is controlled by those we never see and they only say what they are told to say.

Never have really trusted

the media or its polling data

Not only that, but

the FISA court would appear to not even have jurisdiction over intercepting data/communications about US nationals communicating with each other. Which probably explains the absurdity of the government trying to bypass the FISA court when it is a rubber stamp waiting to happen.

I`ll second that.

I third it.

I third it.

Ron Paul or Bust

notice...

Greenwald DIDN'T touch the red herring.. the 'polls' bait.
It's a potaatoh potahtoh argument.
Very smart boy. :)

Hey I'm surprised they look this good. CNN poll? Seriously?

There's one thing I'll take a CNN for at face value: reflective of it's viewers (thence their) opinion.

If this poll were conducted shortly after 9/11 the poll would show 4% in favor and 96% HANG HIM FROM A TREE. This is, after all, the American people we're talking about. What you are seeing is part of the awakening.

On the question of Snowdens concerns about being murdered or...

...imprisoned by the U.S. gov't, I wish Greenwald would have said, "Two words: Michael Hastings."

"Another two words: Bradley Manning."

"Another two words: Pat Tillman."

And then watch the host abruptly break for a commercial.

Come on Greenwald, stop dodging a ball you could hit out of the park. We have a serious problem of overt state terrorism against whistle-blowers. Don't let a mouthpiece for state terrorism (CNN) mock criticism of such obvious state terrorism. Stop them in their tracks with the truth. Don't let them get away with their brainwashing techniques.

Overcharged to the point of extinction or murdered?

The propaganda is in the polls.

"It turns out that a majority of people here in the US do not support Snowden's cause." *Insert graphic*

Misleading. Misrepresenting. Lies. Trickery. Chicanery. Shenanigans. Bullshit.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Yeah, they probably polled 100 socialists.

In which case I would say there STILL would be be a sizable percentage of those who wouldn't want gov't snooping in their bedrooms.

And of course, the way you ask the question changes the response. For example: "Do you agree that Snowden, the whiste-blower, answered the call of duty by revealing that our own gov't is spying on the most private parts of the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans and that he took a courageous stand to defend your 4th Amendment protected rights to privacy of your personal papers without a warrant?"

A FISA court would be an administrative court

and have no judiciary power to issue warrants of any type, Is this correct?

As I read it: Nope.

The FISA court(s) are judiciary, under the power of congress to, by law, create courts and establish their jursidiction.

First level judges are selected from sitting federal judges by the attorney general, appeals judges selected from sitting federal judges by the chief justice of the Supreme Court, which has other oversight of their activities. (For instance: The Supreme Court, the Chief Justice, or any of the other justices acting under the Supreme Court's rules, can issue stays.)
