Judge Napolitano Reacts To Edward Snowden Being Charged With Espionage

Federal prosecutors have charged NSA leaker Edward Snowden with espionage. He's also facing charges of theft and conversion of government property.

Judge Andrew Napolitano joined Fox Report saying that this step is necessary for the government to start the extradition process.

While Napolitano praised Snowden's decision to expose to the American public that the government has been spying on them, he thinks he may have a difficult time defending himself against these charges. "The issue for him is whether or not a court will permit him to make that argument which is essentially a moral and constitutional argument, it's not a legal defense. He has essentially admitted to having done what the government has charged him with."

According to the judge, Snowden could serve a life sentence for espionage, but won't face the death penalty.

Can Edward file charges

Can Edward file charges against the government for espionage in return?

Guardian: "extradition attempts could take years"

[With a headline like this, I worry about head fakes and distractions as the CIA ravages Hong Kong looking to find and assassinate Snowden.]
Edward Snowden extradition attempts 'could take years'
Hong Kong legal experts say US could face lengthy diplomatic and legal process to try NSA whistleblower in American court

Saturday 22 June 2013 05.22 EDT

Any attempt by the US to extradite the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden from Hong Kong for espionage could take years and be blocked by China, legal experts have said.
The timeframe for such proceedings remains unclear, but Hectar Pun, a barrister with human rights expertise, said such an extradition could take three to five years

I wonder what eleven comments means--

*we* are getting tired? *We* are feeling 'hog-tied'? I wonder--

a year ago there would have been hundreds of comments. But that doesn't mean I am being critical of anyone on DP--

it means that things are happening so quickly that it is impossible to keep up with it all--

I pray for this man. I pray for all of us. I have a 'gut' feeling that this nation is dissolving rapidly--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I Like The Way Napolitano Described This

Nap said that the courts would probably judge Snowden based on legal precedent (politically induced judges decisions). But he also added that Snowden would probably not be allowed to use a constitutional or moral argument (which was the original intent of the American Revolution).

The judge probably would have been censored if he used the comments that I made in parenthesis above so he probably used "neutral" language to indicate that God's form of justice is an alternative.

90% of congress and Executive should be arrested for espionage

Because they are aiding the enemy of America. This is the reality folks.

Norfolk, VA

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

this is an outrage, we should

this is an outrage, we should have millions of people marching against all this BS like in Brazil

They are arresting the wrong person.

They should start with Obama and his pals who are the real criminals.

Snowden is a hero.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Nice YouTube channel

Good service, subscribed.

This is all about control. And blackmail.

Fasten seatbelts ...

Well I Guess the Material Is Validated

Now that the government has officially verified that the materials were taken from them...

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Yeah I had a similar reaction

Oh, so the secrets that were stolen are now being fixed with another secret order? My government, do you not learn a blasted thing, ever? It's not right to keep secrets, this whistleblower is saying, so you create another secret? Wonderful.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Fox's propaganda

Hey Foxy, These are NOT leaks, Snowden is a "whistleblower".
You're a tool of the tyranny that Snowden is exposing.
Hey Hong Kong, Stand up to the Tyranny.
Snowden will not get a "fair" trial, everything is "sealed" because of National Security of course.
If NSA is not guilty of violating the Constitution, then Snowden can not be guilty either...
No victim, No crime.

Why doesn't Judge straighten these pundits out

by explaining to them the difference between a "Whistleblower" and a person (news person) that leaks a story from an anonymous source! There is NO such term as 'leaker'. It doesn't exist. Look it up in the dictionary!

Brother...although I do believe Shep is starting to understand how wrong this is and how Edward Snowden did the right thing for all of us.

I wish Judge Nap would defend him in a court as his Edward's attorney, if he ends up coming back, which I HOPE WON'T HAPPEN!! But, if it did, this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Judge to defend the Constitution he says he loves and respects. He has no wife, no kids, so I'm hoping he would consider this case. He is so well-known. This young man has given his freedom and his very life for this country! He deserves help from someone like the Judge.
