My friends in Brazil tell me it is getting worse,

and they also tell me they are not giving up! The more the police fight them, the more people show up the next day. The parents are encouraging their kids to participate. They want the President and Congress GONE NOW!

I'm seriously worried about this country because they don't have a history of limited government and they seem to believe they can fix government. Whenever I tell them they need to shrink government, they don't agree, they believe, just like a lot of 'Mericans, that if they can get the right people in office they can fix it.

I don't have any answers for them other than libertarianism. I share this with them whenever I can...

Another banana republic

Same old, same old.

All the southern 'relaxed' countries will always be like this because of the warm/moderate climate imo. The best bet is to just leave them alone. When someone is used to lounging along the beach, not much is going to change that and a country will go bankrupt trying in the long run imo.

As for the corruption in these countries it is evident they cannot control themselves and exchanges with these countries should be more closely scrutinized.

These countries will eventually rot in their own sewage with their current practices and policies.

donvino

Really?

I firmly believe this has nothing to do with the climate and EVERYTHING to do with the government. People in these countries don't lounge around on the beach anymore than the people in the United States lounge on the beach, or play video games all day, or stuff their fat faces.

People in Brazil work very hard. They have a rich agricultural economy and they export food all over the world, much of it going to China and the US.

People are people all over the world and to think the people in Brazil are any different than the people in the US is wrong thinking.

The problem is government. Perhaps Brazil doesn't have the history of independence that America does, but do you even know the history of Brazil?

Speaking of rotting in sewage and not controlling things, how is the populace of the United States doing controlling it's government?

Before you start labeling people as lazy and hopeless you might want to step back and look at your own situation.

At least in Brazil the people have the balls to fight back against their oppressors, that is much more than you can say for the fat, lazy Americans that we are surrounded by. We follow along with our leaders and choke on all the laws our government passes, meanwhile in the "relaxed" countries, they ignore the laws and when they can't ignore them any longer they fight back.

millions of people

and a handful of riot police have them running...incredible...

His passion and the words he said, made me tear up, we are all trully brothers and sisters

Viva free os pessoes do brazil, meu brothr e meu sisters, a gente no vai deixar continuar, os pessoas do mundo no vai ir sem a fight

Viva free, always

Is the riot really over bus fares going up by fifty cents?

Seeing a lot of cheerleading lately for "rebels" who are fed up with the government, and they're not about tax increases, they're about cutting handouts.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

That's not what we're hearing from people on the ground.

Yeah there are Brazillian Ron Paulers and Ron Paulers in Brazil. The are telling us emphatically that this is something different, it cuts across political lines and is a general expression of disgust with government.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Quit running... Stand your ground...

Some may be beaten or die, but it only shows the brutality of the government. Governments will kill in order to maintain their monopoly on force.

More government will never be good for the people. I hope the people of Brazil will now realize this. The "right people" to run the government will never be found.

Why don't you go offer

Why don't you go offer yourself up to the police brutality / murder? They might even broadcast it in the states and you could kill two birds with one stone.
