Snowden Has left Hong Kong; Official Press Release from HKSAR

The HKSAR Government today (June 23) issued the following statement on Mr Edward Snowden:

Mr Edward Snowden left Hong Kong today (June 23) on his own accord for a third country through a lawful and normal channel.

The US Government earlier on made a request to the HKSAR Government for the issue of a provisional warrant of arrest against Mr Snowden. Since the documents provided by the US Government did not fully comply with the legal requirements under Hong Kong law, the HKSAR Government has requested the US Government to provide additional information so that the Department of Justice could consider whether the US Government's request can meet the relevant legal conditions. As the HKSAR Government has yet to have sufficient information to process the request for provisional warrant of arrest, there is no legal basis to restrict Mr Snowden from leaving Hong Kong.

The HKSAR Government has already informed the US Government of Mr Snowden's departure.

Meanwhile, the HKSAR Government has formally written to the US Government requesting clarification on earlier reports about the hacking of computer systems in Hong Kong by US government agencies. The HKSAR Government will continue to follow up on the matter so as to protect the legal rights of the people of Hong Kong.

That letter from Hong Kong

That letter from Hong Kong was funny and scary at the same time. "Sorry, you didn't fill out all the forms, we're gonna let him go on his merry way. By the way, why are you hacking us?"

Hong Kong has an agreement with the US to extradite anybody, and all that's needed is evidence that he's in the other country and needs to answer a charge. Them responding in this way... Talk about cheeky.

Everyone knows the US

Everyone knows the US alphabet soup agencies are all plotting to kill Edward in "Operation: Get Snowden". Edward is doing the only logical thing to keep himself safe.

Wikileaks claims

to have assisted Snowden, who just arrived in Russia.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

I dont get it.

Why would anybody who is supposedly helping Snowden announce to the world world where he is all the time?
Then again, i guess it makes sense coming from wikileaks.

As for drone strikes on Hong Kong, I doubt it. I can't rule it out; as this monster thrashes about in its death throes, millions will probably be killed. But HK itself just might weather it as a stable and secure HK is generally perceived to be in just about EVERYBODY's best interests.

Get guns, gold, and garden tools, my friends. (And as for the rest of you, trust in government.)
