Drone Engineers Needed: It's Fun!

After Snowden, it looks like they aren't shy to disguise what they want to do. And as I fear, they are reaching out to the unemployed video game generation who have been conditioned to believe there's always the comfort of a reset button.

Take a look (emphasis added):

Engineers, programmers, we are developing systems and software to control and fly drones from Google Earth utilizing our tablets, Droid phones, and laptops. We want grad students to help develop the code and hardware so that the drones can fly their missions on autopilot. We want to have fun and create a much needed product. We will be using stamps and propellers to breadboard and then create printed circuit boards to deliver the end product on time after QA.

Please forward your resume and hourly requirements.

We are offering full or part time positions to qualified and determined individuals.

"In America they are already training more drone pilots than real aircraft pilots, looking for young men who are very good at computer games. They are looking at swarms of robots, with perhaps one person watching what they do."

Why not just advertise for

Why not just advertise for sociopaths, it'd be easier and more direct.

Back in the early days of the Afghan conflict a fellow who worked for me, a guy who was a remote control airplane junkie from childhood, came to me and handed in his resignation to take a job with a MIC company who was promising to pay him MUCH more than he was making from me as a programmer, to work as a drone pilot, flying reconnaissance drones. He was a young guy, and a recently married, and a father to newborn, and we discussed the danger of his taking the job.

He told me his plan was to go for only a year or two, and that if he saved his money as he was planning to do, he'd have made enough to build a nest egg that would take decades if he didn't take this opportunity.

He left, but six months later he was back asking for his job. He told me that things were "out of control" over there and he just had to get out.

This is how they operate. They appeal to patriotism, they lie, they do whatever it takes to get the kids involved.
