The Feds want Snowden to become a Spy

The Feds want Snowden to become a Spy so they can punish him harshly for revealing the PRISM and meta data collection of Americans phone numbers. That is why they accused him of being a spy instead of bringing him home by granting him immunity which is what they would have done if they were worried about him revealing state secrets.

I don't think it's

I don't think it's necessarily that the US doesn't care -- I think it's that they're not stupid, they know Snowden will ensure the information is released regardless of whether they capture him or not.

By pursuing him to the ends of the earth, they accomplish the only thing left they CAN accomplish -- intimidating future whistleblowers into not following in Snowden's footsteps.

I agree, it's all the corrupt establishment has to gain.

But at this point it seems Snowden has the high road with the awake public, and the establishment media seems to have egg on their face. (Love Paul Craig Roberts piece)

I'm hoping that a reverse reaction happens, and whistle blowers begin to come out MORE.

Mark Tice came out with much of the same information but struggled to get public attention. Perhaps Snowden is the ice breaker?

Thanks Jan

I always love to watch your videos. Keep em coming!

Great job Jan

Excellent analysis of what is happening, I LOVE YOUR THINKING.
Additionally, Notice that all those in Government "in favor" of this prizm and maga-data apparatus, are also the ones who marched us into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now Syria.
They are the Warmongers, except this time, their war is on the American people...and the Constitution.

There is NO doubt

that the government, both zombie parties, want to punish him severely. The evil pours out of them through the pores in their skin, and the burning fire in their eyes.

I agree, and this is EXACTLY why I think Edward should GO TO ICELAND today.
Take that jet and go!

Iceland is a neutral country, therefore it would not bolster their SPY ACCUSATION.

Some Iceland politicians had once said that he would have to be there in order to apply for citizenship, or asylum, so I think that's exactly what he needs to do. Let those few politicians have their way then! Edward needs to go, and he NEEDS to take that chance!!

Picking Ecuador is contentious and NO guarantee that The CIA won't hire some criminal gangs to murder him. If anything bad happened, or at the least, if they arrested him, I'd MUCH RATHER be in Iceland than in Ecuador for then, they would have a really hard time making that accusation stick. In fact, they may just leave him alone in Iceland and let the whole story die down, twist in the wind with their "State" Media, doing their damage control here.

It sounds like it was wikileaks

that pushed Ecuador. I'm not real impressed with their tactics. Why would they announce to the world where Snowden was and where he was going before it happened? This was really stupid. Then, after, the say well we won't say where he is because of the USA's bellicose behavior. Duhhhh....oh, they finally figured it out. I hope he can make it to Iceland. Obviously, though, the US has intimidated the world and they are all afraid to take him. I hope he stays safe.

Neat juxtaposition

I just posted a question, "Does Edward Snowden really exist?" This post speculates whether the US wants to grant Snowden immunity. Perhaps he already has that "immunity" because there really is no spoon, it's just a creation like the CIA create identities?

I think you're spot on. Those

I think you're spot on.

Those in the administration who were carrying out these actions, as well as those in Congress charged with oversight, are invested in the notion that these programs are necessary security precautions, and that security trumps privacy, even if that trumping violates the constitution.

Ed Snowden's actions have challenged not only this notion, but the notion that the govt has the right to make this decision for us, the people, without including us in the debate.

This, I think is why they are not interested in offering him immunity, because if they did, they'd be admitting that they might have been wrong in their decision to exclude us from the debate.

Challenging them on their decision on security vs privacy is one thing. They could likely successfully defend their actions by saying that reasonable people will disagree.

But challenging them on their decision to violate our rights without a public debate is very dangerous to their public standing, because the challenge suggests that they are unfit for their office.

Which they evidently are.

Thank you MODS!

The principled questions here need to be (stickied) for awhile!

A linear and logical conclusion Jan

Intuitively, I must also conclude that Snowden received intelligence that the US was going to intercept the flight to Cuba/Venezuela and so abandoned that mode of travel.

If you consider torture, imprisonment without charge and drone strikes of American citizens without charge....

It becomes difficult to imagine any brutality that could not be committed in the name of 'The War on Terror'.

If Nixon were President today, most of the things he had done would be legal, and Mark Felt and Bob Woodward would both be in prison along with Daniel Ellsberg.

What has changed so drastically in government in the last 40 years since Watergate?

Jan, I always appreciate your clear thinking.

Ha! Excellent points Jan!

The only other thing that makes sense is that they're in such a panic, in such a rage that they have no idea what they're doing.

Great video Jan.
