Can a 5'8" Ophthalmologist Get Elected President?

"The mainstream media will tell you that the major hurdle Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul must overcome to be his party's presidential nominee in 2016 is his foreign policy -- specifically, that he's not that into war. Well the MSM is wrong. The real hurdle Paul must clear -- climb, really, with his little paws -- is the American public's irrational and stubborn tendency to not vote for short people. 5'7" John McCain? Lost. 5'6" Michael Dukakis? Lost. And Rand Paul is short. At 5'8" Rand Paul is so short that if 5'7" Hillary Clinton wears heels (standard heels are 3 inches) and poufs her hair (which can give her another inch and a half), she'll tower over him."

Whats even worse are the comments under the article. When I read those sort of comments I realize that the US is pretty much DONE. And of course the info-graphic is laid out in a way that seems to place Hillary as "taller" than Rand, when she is not. But just look at the placement of their pictures. Tell me that was not on purpose.

Height doesn't mean much

Napoleon was really short. Hitler was short. Lil Wayne is short. It's all about the personality.

"you're a funny dude, but who gives a fuck about that? I don't care about someone's wit, I care about the courage of their heart and the honesty of their mind."

Im sorry

just thought of this when I read the title, had myself a good laugh so I thought I would share!

Ok, time out

John McCain is 5'7"? I would have guessed at least 5'10". The media knows about the public height bias and seemed to do a pretty good job hiding this from us. Just like FDR with the wheelchair.

Wouldn't have made a difference to any of us who choose to use our conscious mind, but I don't know if McCain would have gotten the nomination in 2008 if they would have made this obvious. It also doesn't surprise me that a war hawk like McCain is short. I was wondering what that guy's problem was.

Then again, I still stand with Rand and feel optomistic about the Ophthalmologist.

Hobbit analogy

I am not sold on Rand. If I was a salesperson with some scruples, I could not be enthusiastic in selling the Rand Paul brand that tries to appease the body politic in contrast to the easy sell of the elder Paul.

That said, perhaps we could imagine Rand in the role of Frodo Baggins who, once receiving his commission, had to endure and overcome the corrupting power in his charge to finally destroy the One Ring by returning it to the flames of Mount Doom in Mordor, where it was forged.

Mount Doom in this case is the White House with Mordor being Washington DC.

maybe, if

He has big hands and feet.

Can Rand be elected?

Typical Superficial BS

If Vlad Putin, one of the strongest leaders in the world, who can single-handedly stop the Western cabal nations from going into Syria.....who made sure that Russian money wasn't Cyprus'ed, who was behind the crushing defeat of Georgia 5 years ago when they tried to bring South Ossetia and Abkhazia "back into the union"....

Can get elected at 5'7".......Rand should be just fine at 5' 8".

Oh, and then there was the man who made all of Europe literally wet their beds: Bonaparte. Who clocked in at a towering 5'7".

Neither man was a good leader...but both men were strong and put fear into their enemies....and isn't that all that 'good ole boy' neo-cons care about?

unfortunately applies

unfortunately because of the Idiocracy that we have, it does apply.
i would not be surprised when anchors throw in a bit about "how short he is", that might make this ratings go down.
such superficial is the public.
