Turn Your Back This Fourth of July

In a few days, we will all have an opportunity to peacefully inflict a major psychological blow on the rapidly coalescing police state by the simple but powerful act of refusing to play along with the absurd pantomime on the 4th of July that we live in an even nominally free country – one with the rule of law, an operative Constitution and respect for individual rights. One that isn’t a thugocracy.

We can turn our backs on the flag. Decline to participate when urged to cheer and sing. No fireworks. No barbeques. We can sit down – and bow our heads.

We can mention the unmentionable: That there is no longer any meaningful limit to the power of the government over our lives. No line beyond which it may not tread. That it lies, spies and tyrannizes. We can admit to ourselves the shoddy – and frightening – reality bubbling up all around us.

NEOCON Alert

you come across as one, quite often in my opinion. You respond to things like my congressman does, and he's ed whitfield. Not good.

Yeah, and when I get cut, my blood looks exactly like

John McCain's...I must be a neocon too.

You don't know what a Neocon is

You make posts that make appear like you're a jihadist.

It was a joke, Granger.

I have not celebrated the 4th in years.

It hurts ((((dducky)))))

I would think that patriots would be celebrating the 4TH, which gave us the liberty many of us are working to keep. Use it or lose it. Have a feast..

My menu:

BBQ Oyster's Rockefeller
Trilateral molesalsadip with FRN chips
Build your own Bilderbergers
Yankee Doodle Macaroni Salad
Mock champagne Rothechilds punch
Boston Tea Cream Pie

It is really sad.

I realized what a sick holiday it is about five years ago. I was home in Colorado visiting family and ended up at the six figure fireworks display. As I listened to the Star Spangled Banner...

...And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?... ♫

it donned on me that we celebrate war. And as my heart leapt from my chest due to the tremendous booms accompanied by red, white, and blue sparkles, I realized that it was all a bunch of jingoistic propaganda. It glorifies war. It commandeers a nationalistic pride that has for hundreds of years s been the a primary tool used by the rulers to get support and volunteers for their wars.

The incredible booms (far louder than the old stuff) made me cry for all those Baghdadis that endured the ruthless 'Shock and Awe' campaign. And I really did cry afterwards.

Since then I do wear black on the 4th. Despite the popular belief that the 4th of July, 1776 was the beginning of freedom, common sense tells me it has to be the opposite. It immediately set up a central government with far more power than the British had over the colonies. The founders were well fed, well read, well wed, and well bred. Power was merely shifted power from a distant, rather toothless, group to these aristocrats. Central banking was up and running immediately. The Articles of Confederation were trashed for the more centrally controlled Constitution, which claims to have checks and balances though three branches but allows itself, namely the judicial branch, to have a monopoly on interpreting the Constitution. We see where that got us.

I am sad about it. But I would rather know what I am sad about than be in a constant state of cognitive dissonance.

I love your menu ❣Granger❣

Don't be sad

Thank God you are not having to fight. Thank God there were those who were brave enough before you to fight for you to be sad today.

No doubt America has made mistakes, but what nation has not?

Rather than lament on what was bad to make you sad, CELEBRATE WHAT IS GOOD. SEEK sad and you will find sad.. SEEK a reason to celebrate.

Don't let America go.. FIGHT to make America a nation you are proud of.. BE PART OF THAT GOOD.

Wear white this year.. surrender your saddness and celebrate the fact you are not having to have have 10 kids from an arranged marriage to some suicide bomber while living in ruins and nothing to eat. (((((((dducky)))))))

I can't be happy about our situation. I like feeling emotions even if they are uncomfortable because it makes life easier in the long run. I will try not to be negative here though...just for you.

I did not down-vote you.
BTW, I like arranged marriages. I think it makes more sense. Look at the super rich; they do it.

Well, have a great 4th! I will think about you while I am barbequing.

July 4th is my birthday...

and once again it will be a day of reflection, anger and sadness. I get so frustrated with the general public for being so blind and unwilling to learn...like the La Quinta commercial about the people thinking outside the box...I try my best to educate, but mostly to deaf ears. Much to the chagrin of passing motorists, I will be displaying my upside-down Amerikan flag again this year.
Paradoxically, my sister's birthday is 9-11.

I agree. I can't wait to see

I agree. I can't wait to see what things the MSM and washed up performers tell us we have reason to celebrate for.
