Palin Floats Idea of Leaving GOP

"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican nominee for vice president responded to a Fox News Channel viewer’s Twitter question Saturday about the possibility of her and conservative talker Mark Levin abandoning the Republican Party and creating something called the “Freedom Party.”

I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm not a big fan of either Palin or Levin, and I'm even a lesser fan of the Republicans and the Democrats. Would this be compromising the liberty movement? Or, as has been debated on the DP many times, can a skunk truly change its stripes?

Moose and Squirrel!

Don't underestimate the amount of

Hannity type conservatives that will flee the GOP if they see another viable option. Especially if the GOP abandons them on immigration.
I honestly don't care if they leave or not.

sarah palin and mark levin

sarah palin and mark levin have already destroyed the image of the liberty movement. Everyone on the left thinks they're part of the club when the truth is they're fascist morons here to sabotage any chances we have. Sucks that libertarians are associated with such scum

had some harsh words to say about Ron Paul during the election. I was offended.

yea i listened to his show

yea i listened to his show one night and he would hang up on one Ron Paul supporter after another. what did he call us? oh yea!! whack jobs thats right.. And now he wants to start the freedom party? really? fuck him

Morbid Curiosity Leading Many Voters To Support Palin

Independent... I can dream!

Picture a nation where all representatives are Independent with no party affiliation. I can dream, right?

Here we are stuck in the Republican, Democrat, 3rd Party scenario. We need candidates to do whatever it takes to run as an Independent (and I realize that will be a huge task). Unless someone can educate me otherwise, I don't think you need to be a member of a political party to run for office (although it's probably easier if you are). Screw the political parties... look where we've found ourselves today under their guidance (I wouldn't call it leadership). Be Independent, defend and protect the Constitution as per the oath you will swear, and do what is right for your constituents rather than blindly following the tenets of some political party.

Great idea!

That's how George Washington wanted it. He thought political parties were a form of corruption, wanted to ban them. He should have!!

Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.

Quite possible

she could pull a Teddy Roosevelt...create her Bull Moose Party, and siphon votes away from Rand Paul, ensuring an insider Dem victory.

Anything Mark Levin touches is patriotism and rainbows on the outside, manipulative, subversive and evil inside.

Good call!

Hadn't thought of that. But, if any bankster whore would do that it would be the Koch's - this might be a way to galvanize the Teocon Party under a less-vitriolic name.

I think any third party

is a bad idea.

The truth is this country is a two-party only system, which didn't happen by accident. It happened because money interests play the two parties against each other as if they are different, when really they both benefit money interests.

No third party really has a chance, and instead becomes a distraction or wastes time struggling to find its soul.

I think the strategy Ron Paul realized, after running for president in 1988 as a libertarian and seeing how unfair/undemocratic the system is, makes sense which is be a Republican and bring the party your way.

They're better off staying

They're better off staying put and making the McCain's, Graham's leave.

are too many McCain's and Graham's. Plus they will put more in place.
We are never going to fix the GOP. It is never going to happen. Face it

The rules are in place. How are you going to change them?

I like the idea but not Palin involved.

Sarah Palin: Come on boyz! I think this one will float.

Sarah Palin sets out on her floating expedition. Ideas will come & go. This is news?

In depth coverage will continue by Mark Twain... up to about 2 fathoms.

Is the mental intelligence they associate us with, when passing hypocriticly named bills, but then again, i dont think it was ever aimed at us to begin with

I guess if she starts a new

I guess if she starts a new party she can better control it (and the money that flows into it). I smell a scandal in 4 or 5 years and a prison term for fraud (for "someone" prominent).

I think a new peoples party

I think a new peoples party is exactly what you need, just dont know if this one is it.......im thinking of the rise of ukip in england

But i fear that if it is left to late, not started early to establish a foothold, a lossening of the cranks, oiling of the gears, test running leading to smooth operation, in time for the next election, then i dont know if it would be viable

I deffinetly think, americas long overdue for a no nonsense third party with conviction, championing the righs of the individual.......the current SINGLE party would have to have a biblical and monumental change for me to ever start trusting them

The "new party" already

The "new party" already exists and has been growing rapidly over the past 40+ years... It's called the Libertarian Party. However, since a Christians-only ethos isn't a bedrock principle of any liberty/freedom political organization, thus the desire of Palin and/or Levin to start over (or at least make empty threats). She and Levin should just join the misnamed "Constitution Party" since it's already established and is a 100% Christians-only club.

In fact, I wish Palin, Beck and their ilk would just take the leap and leave for the Middle East as their preferred state of the world is one in which all nations are on the road to Armageddon to bring about the "end times".

Wow, did not see that coming...

Divide & Conquer

Regarding Palin: I believe we are watching in real time the rise of the third party, which will be controlled by the powers that be from its' inception.

this is just some bs floating around or something plausible and in the works. Without more information, this post cannot get any serious comments; only more bs.

koch bros took over the tea

koch bros took over the tea party to quell anti-banker protests and turn them into christian right extremists the same way soros took over occupy wall street's anti banker protests and turned them into social justice circle jerks.

sarah palin's "freedom party" is just another billionaire funded ploy.

IF this idea is true in the first place, then of course

it's just another neocon ploy. I do hope it's true because, IF it's true, then we'll know we are chasing the neocons out of the GOP and we are gaining even more ground very rapidly. IF
