Rand Paul: I'm Not My Dad

"Yet the undertones of Paul's full 23-minute speech to GOP activists at the state farmers' market were unmistakable: Rest assured, I'm not my father.

Paul is well-aware of his dad's reputation in the Palmetto State. Former Rep. Ron Paul barely competed in the 2012 primary here largely because his isolationist worldview was deemed a non-starter in a place home to eight military bases. In order to be competitive here three years from now, Rand knows he needs to vanquish Ron's long shadow."

I do support Rand but I feel

I do support Rand but I feel pretty crappy that he has to whore himself to the warvangelicals.

Here's the thing:

I will fully support Rand Paul - regardless of how "close" he is to his father's positions - if nothing else than to revel in Ron Paul giving a prime time, keynote address at the '16 Republican Party Convention.

And I'm 100% positive that will happen if Rand is nominated.

or at least

educate people on the difference of isolationism and non-intervention. Hard egg to crack but would be interesting if he came up with projected numbers as to why scaling back our military would increase jobs in the area and free up money for more R&D which would also be great for the area.

Powerful Forces Promote Rand Paul

True or not. I feel everything should be dissected on here.

American Free Press.
"Asserting that Paul “is talked about as a credible Republican presidential contender in 2016,” who is “no longer marginalized by his party—or dismissed by the opposition,” the story promoting Paul appeared on the very day (though the Post didn’t mention it at the time) Paul was the keynote speaker at a fundraising banquet for the Competitive Enterprise Institute in Washington.

Among the biggest donors for that gala featuring Paul were Internet giants Google and Facebook—both of which have been represented at recent Bilderberg meetings alongside Washington Post Company chairman Donald Graham who is also a member of Facebook’s board of directors."

"Quite notably, however, the Post did not hesitate to make reference to favorable remarks about Paul by former Representative Vin Weber (R-Minn.), describing Weber as a “pillar of the party establishment in Washington.” The fact that Weber is being referenced as being inclined toward Paul is telling, if not ominous, from the perspective of those who admired the work of Paul’s father.

While citing Weber’s comment that he, too, has a “libertarian streak,” and that today’s Republicans find “the real world is heightening their libertarian instincts,” what the Post did not mention—but which informed members of its elite readership know well—is that Weber is a director of the Council on Foreign Relations—the New York offshoot of the London-based Royal Institute for International Affairs, the foreign policy arm of the Rothschild banking dynasty.

A veteran of the now-infamous Project for the New American Century, which declared the need for a “New Pearl Harbor” to stimulate American meddling around the globe, Weber once urged the GOP to become “America’s new internationalist party.”

The Post did not mention, though, that Paul has a close, direct tie to Weber’s intrigues: Paul’s chief 2010 Senate campaign tactician—deployed to work for Paul by the Republican National Committee—was Trygve Olson, a former top-level operative of the International Republican Institute (IRI), a creation of—and funded by—the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) of which Weber was chairman (and on whose board of directors he remains)."

What about asking Ron Paul his thoughts on Trygve Olson?

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

Hey Rand Paul, I won't be

Hey Rand Paul, I will not be wasting my time being your delegate.

Ron Paul 2016

if he wasn't ron paul's son

would there be even a quarter of this brouhaha about him? be honest.

Kathleen Gee's picture

If he wasn't Ron Paul's son

wouldn't you be calling him the most pro-Liberty Senator we've had in 50 years and trying to figure out how to clone him?

Be honest.

Public Relations Consulting

no, but i like him as a senator

it would be fair to answer my question first don't cha think?

but anyways, no, i don't approve of sanctions (act of war) against iran, flip flopping on drug laws, saying we should have a "little less aggressive foreign policy" pandering to the evangelicals, saying that war against israel is war against the US, supporting romney etc etc,

but i do applaud a lot of his voting on other issues. the filibuster was brilliant. it's a mixed bag with rand paul. he seems to take one step forward, then two steps back.

now cloning his dad i would be 100% for.

2016 Presidential Primary Analysis

Rand Paul Road to the GOP Nomination in 2016.

Iowa Caucus 2013: Rand Paul needs at least 5k more votes versus his father's 2012 Presidential run.

New Hampshire Primary: Rand Paul needs at least 45k more votes versus his father's 2012 Presidential run.

Nevada Caucus: Rand Paul needs at least 11 to 15k more votes versus his father's 2012 Presidential run.

South Carolina Primary(The Most Critical State): Rand Paul needs at least 165k more votes versus his father's 2012 Presidential run.

If Rand Paul was able to win the first four primaries and caucus states most of his rivals would drop out of the race, but Arizona and Michigan would need to be prepared for weeks in advance to contest.

This Presidential Primary is going to be over by the first 12 states.
Current Republican Presidential Primary Calendar Projection:

he's not even involved in the excellent Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Proving that he is "not his Dad"

... along with being just like his Dad where and when it really matters?

This is *everything* in determining whether or not he has a chance for enough groundswell (among Real people, not sheep or corrupt douchebags) to carry 2016.

These are the questions that will be pounded and pounded by MSM and friends and foes like the dead horse questions they are.

Because fear not: Grasshoppa don't fall that far from the tree. Who do you think is advising him (regardless of what they chuckle and say on FOX interviews)

You said it, kid.

You said it, kid.

And they prefer those bases empty?

I haven't

met anyone that thinks that Rand is his dad. There's only one Ron Paul....but who cares? You have to look for the best that's left in the field. For some...that person is Rand.

Here is my take

Here is my take, after Ron [and r3VOLution] got railroaded, everybody standing with Rand, and the coming 2016.

My goal is to support/ promote all Liberty Conservatives, such as Amash, Davis, and others, and work to hold OUR PA reps at ALL levels to the same standard. If they do not meet or beat the standard, there will be NO support for those individuals.

For example:

Elder is good, but needs polished around the edges.

Mike Kelly, as far as I am concerned, should return to his car dealership after the STUNTS that he has pulled. He is an obama lapdog.

'One-term Toomey' - should be obvious.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Isolationist world view???

Isolationist world view??? Gfy

How about non-interventionist world view?

Why do some want to call a person who wants to promote trade with countries rather than start wars with them an isolationist?

Rand is not his dad, but his

Rand is not his dad, but his voting record is the closest thing to his dad's we have right now. He is talking about the right things, and raising awareness about the right things. We shouldn't get wound up by Rand playing to a crowd of war hawks, he's just playing a little bit of politics.

Forget the drama.

When the time comes, voting records will determine who I support.

Double take

I initially interpreted this as "When the time comes, electronic voting machines will determine who I support."

Funny (ish) thing is, my initial interpretation may be more accurate.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Which is just one of many reasons why I think this whole "Stand with Rand" thing isn't going to be the world-changing movement that some here have been trying to make it out to be.

TPTB have shown time and again that our votes either don't count and/or matter, so what's the point in playing their game? To sucker people back into playing the red team/blue team game by encouraging 'liberty' folks to join the GOP, a party that is primarily composed of warmongering filth who worship at the altar of the state...so long as there's an (R) next to it. I can't believe that some here still support those clowns, despite how RP supporters were treated in 2012.

I've already seen the "a vote for anyone other than Rand is a vote for Hilary" argument pop up a few times on the DP and it's only mid 2013...it's the VERY SAME THING people here complained about when the 'neocons' all said "a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama".

I agree, National Politics is

I agree, National Politics is pretty much hopeless. We need to focus on Constitutionalist Sheriffs, educating people on proper jury duty/grand juries, States Rights and Nullification.

Electing a president only acknowledges that the Feds have supreme power and we just need our guy to be in the power seat. Instead, we need to transfer the power to local government which can be more easily be taken over by grass roots and bring this country back to a Republic.

We need to push for a Liberty candidate in 2016 for sure, but the biggest fight is going to be local and that is where we are going to make the most difference.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Preach it!

Electing Sheriffs who take the Constitution seriously is one of the most important things one can do on a political level, IMO. Informing more people about Jury Nullification is right up there too, and is relatively simple.

You're right that electing a President only validates federal power, which is the single biggest reason why I don't like playing the game. As they say, "it just encourages the bastards"! Heck, even going up to state level may not be a viable option in some of the more corrupted areas.

Yeah, nothing wrong with wanting to get a liberty-minded person on the national stage come 2015-16, it's just that I don't want to see people get their hopes up all over again or the umpteenth time, only to be let down harder than ever.

Did Rand Sign the Pledge?

You know, The PLEDGE!

Of course

There's no one like Ron Paul. Although, I'm satisfied with Rands politics overall. Yes he's playing politics, which is fine with me because he's still the only one spreading the most amount of liberty in congress. Good, don't embrace Ron Paul and consistent libertarianism, but feel free to promote some liberty in the name of the tea party or whoever. Rand Paul is making it easier for us to spread some pro liberty ideas with conservative types because he's slowly injecting libertarian leaning policies. Those conservative types can only embrace the message in this manner, slowly with jesus/terrorist buzzwords. If you give it to them explicitly like Ron Paul has, you'll scare them off.

"you're a funny dude, but who gives a fuck about that? I don't care about someone's wit, I care about the courage of their heart and the honesty of their mind."

Rand doesn't have a snowballs

Rand doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell.

You may be right, however

Its still true as it was during the last election, "They can't win without us". We may have to sit out another election, just to reinforce the learning experience. Another forty years in the wilderness may be what it will take, "until this generation has passed", but the Republicans will come around, eventually.

I think we need to remind

I think we need to remind Rand that he needs us. Stop pandering to the neocons.

What makes you think he's

What makes you think he's pandering? Every time I see him he's calling them out for one reason or another. He's all over McLame.
