getting ready for hard times
i am avid a.jones listener and keep open mind these days.i am also single mom of five,,,,,,,last summer i lost my job in asheville,n.c. and shortly thereafter my car died and so had to make hasty decision to cut losses gather up what savings i had and move back to rural upstate new york where my family is from, its turned out to be a blessing, ive been expecting the market crash but honestly not until summer or fall, i do believe this was orchestrated by the govt. ,perpepuated by the fed ( ie. fake stimulus in form of interest rate cuts) with the ultimate goal to sink the dollar. the following and predictable rioting in the streets could serve a handy little premise for georgy bush to declare martial law and suspend elections.......please i beg all of you, begin storing food,,,,rice, beans, tuna, energy bars, dried fruit....... if you have a bit of dirt, plant some vegetables this spring,if youve firearms, make sure they are in good working order and stock up on ammunition , get a good water filter, mend your own clothes, save every penny you can and work for ron paul campaign like your lives depend on it,,,,,,,,it really does..........

Don't buy too many beans
Be realistic. If things get REALLY bad you will be under great stress. Your appetite will be affected and beans are hard to eat. So eat them now and buy some extra "comfort foods" for when you will need them Things that won't need cooking and that pack well.
If you've never grown a garden, forget about that as an emergency food source. Rather, plant a garden now to learn for the future and, more importantly, to create a place of peace and healing for yourself.
Canning foods destroys many of the nutrients and requires supplies and fuel. Try to eat with the seasons. Meats, nuts, sprouts, potatoes, cabbage in the winter. Eggs, dairy and vegetables in the summer. Learn how to preserve without a refrigerator using salt, oil, sandboxes, etc.
Don't forget to stock up on essentials like oil, salt, sugar, coffee, ketchup, flour.

i personally am okay to eat beans and rice a lot but i am vegetarian anyhow,,,,,good advice on your entry,,,and i agree with paulite below, berkey water filters are the best, can make swamp water drinkable.....really,,,,,take care and keep waking people up

I stopped eating at McDonalds!
I was there and got my meal at 11:55 PM and 5 minutes later I was told that I had to leave! After some discussion, it became obvious that they weren't supposed to sell me food after 11:40 PM and they broke their own rule; After some more discussion, they refused to refund the price of my meal; instead, they wanted me to pack it up and carry it home in 5 degree weather!
Overall, it's been a blessing! Now I eat at local places! And, really,"value mean #2" is over $7 since I would buy a desert too! When I realized that the cost of food at better restaurants was not that much more, I didn't look back!

Great post from a fellow upstater (Utica area). I wouldn't want to be anywhere else when the feces contact the oscillating cooling device. I would recommend everyone here heed this advice. It will not take long for the store shelves to become bare.

Getting prepared now is not hoarding. It will actually ease the load on the system when unprepared people like saul4paul and pajeff scramble to hoard "after" the crisis becomes plainly apparent to even the lowest common denominator of society.
Keep up the good work trying to inform people of what might lay ahead sooner than we think. They sure aren't getting any facts from school, media and "officials" in govt. Just don't tell others where you hide it or they will lead a posse to take it from you later.
What a shame that old fashioned preparers are laughed at, savers are decimated by dollar inflation and those with assets are preyed upon by trial lawyers, tax agents and common thieves today when the potential fall for society as a whole for not being prepared is so great.

up. You know people in the 1800's always put food up for the winter. Our family growing up always had a garden and we canned. This not having any food stored up is a relatively new thing. Our society eats fast food and junk food and most people haven't a clue what to do in an emergency. Just look at the Katrina mess.

i actually did come across some how to can lessons on youtube of all places,,,,good basic lessons........can i also suggest when you buy food, aim for most nutrition, least additives chemicals etc, and longest shelf life....dried beans and rice can keep you going a long time and stay relatively healthy as when you combine them, they form a complete protein.....also you can make your own beef jerky in dehydrator or very low oven heat overnite .........funny, fifty years ago storing food was common sense, now it s paranoia.....and dont even get me started on katrina.........good luck

Secondly, many here are the types that think anything outside of the status quo is a "conspiracy", and should be immediately dismissed. I know what you are talking about, all the FEMA camps, and I've even seen an interview with a head FEMA guy talking about them (he refuses to say how many there are, and also refuses to say why he cant say how many there are...)! He claims they are there in case of "emergencies" so they can lock up and control massive groups of people to "protect them from themselves". Germany anyone?
