The Complete List of Countries Where Edward Snowden Wants Asylum

Update: Edward Snowden given possible lifeline as Bolivia hints it would grant asylum

Given the similarity of their situations—a point he often repeats—WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been helping former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden with his asylum applications. Last night, WikiLeaks disclosed a long list of countries to which Snowden wants to flee. Some of these countries have already begun to respond, mostly arguing that in order for them to consider his asylum request, Snowden would already have to be in-country. I've crossed off the ones that have said as much.

Snowden's lawyer is Bruce Fein, a member of the Heritage Foundation.
You can research the man, but researching the Heritage Foundation itself if far more interesting. Proponents for G H Bush's wars in the Middle East, and in bed with Big Oil.
The more I read about the players in this saga, the more suspicious I get.

The biggest STORY here is the fact that the USA has decided and so have the media and the people that it is OK to have SECRET LAWS, SECRET COURTS, and SECRET INNTERPERTATIONS to LAWS that WE ARE NOT ALLOWED to UNDERSTAND.

How can you have RULE OF LAW when the CITIZENS are not even able to KNOW that the LAW IS?

So...what has changed?

Name me one transparent Government starting from the dawn of time.
Where ever there is power and control, there has been secrecy and lies.
Everything is as it was...just more sophisticated.

List of UN member states.

There are very, very few places for him to run to. Can't see the Middle East taking him.

Why not?

I would Iran, Syria and even Egypt could be in play

Trust Wiki? No way... talk about blowing cover!

Bruce Fein said it best: "... Mr. Assange really is a sideshow to some degree..."! He has stepped into an event he did not stage and in which he has no stake except to co-opt for others possibly!

The jury of grassroots truth is still out on Assange. He has already blown Snowdon's attempt to go to Ecuador... at least that is what the surface scuttlebutt indicates.

There are too many unknowns and unanswered questions concerning Assange and the real 'backers, movers and shakers' behind Wiki, to fall for everything he says! He has been positioned to attempt to corral grassroots opinion and mold it the direction of possibly alternate masters.

Bottom line is, there is no reason to blow the lid off all the countries considered to be asylum targets! They will most assuredly become anti-asylum targets!

There is more happening right now in the Snowdon affair, cleaverly designed to put fear in all whistleblowers, than all the investigations by congress or any other serious focus on what Snowdon exposed! That should set bells ringing! Part of this tactic is to focus the attention on the man, 'Snowdon', and his personal safety, his recourse to 'fair trial', his defense against charges of treason, etc. All important, but also useful as disinformation.

The real issue of fraud and tyranny in the US government is fading as the Snowdon affair takes on soap-opera proportions! The governments of not just America, have successfully comandeered the whole show and with Assange's help, turned it into a man-hunt saga!

Was that the whole dialectical intent? Any good Marxist/CFR/Leninist would do exactly this!

Wiki/CIA has to know this also!

I'm with you on this.

Julian Assange had hero status with me....but no longer, he isn't what he appears to be, and I feel the same about Snowden. Something is not right..doesn't feel right, doesn't read right, just doesn't sit right.
I don't know what it is. Was he being handled, then abandoned? Is he genuine? Is he an asset and smoke screen? Is he an "allowed Hero" that people are sooo desperate for?
I don't mind the down votes that inevitably come with not embracing America's darling, but how about some solid reasoning to go with it.
Like you, I am trying to get my head around this event

High Risk, High reward

Wikileaks has provided a useful attorney.

And there is a risk, that this whole event will end with the manhunt saga, with Wikileaks being wither the hero or villian depending on your point of view. But . . .

I believe that Snowden has not yet begun to fight. Once all eyes are focued on him, and he is that human drama that is so compeling to the masses, just when the sheeple are in his sights, he lets loose with his best information. Now everyone sees and everyone cares.

Most people here probably don't remember how during the civil rights movement, the same thing happened to MLK. Most of the sheeple thought he was a criminal. it wasn't until he had their attention that he could let loose with the truth, and changed their minds.

"Wikileaks has provided a useful attorney"... Who?

And, if there is one provided by Wiki, what has he/she accomplished for liberty in this case?

Make no mistake, the whole affair should be attacked dead-on solely for it's expose' of tyrany in the US government!

Regardless of the possible dis-information technics, mis-use of the messenger Snowdon, the distractions I alluded to above, the whole affair can be turned to liberty by taking the exposure seriously, believing it, and attacking back solely on the constitutional violations aspect! Forget the distractions of the soap opera!

The whole approach which will protect Snowdon best, if indeed he deserves protection as a sincere patriot, is the people focusing their massive energy upon the corruption exposed!

To the degree that the grassroots gets sidetracked into tangents offered up by who knows how many disinformation tacticians, or attempts to promote fear in whistle-blowers, the people will fall for the ruse, and be incapacitated in their proper role of 'watchmen on the walls', and fighters for the very freedom and liberty being attacked.

Page not found!

:( damn. The link is now dead, or at least it is for me.

Still up...

Hmmm, still not

For me, says it doesn't exist or has been moved , you know the usual yahoo does not exist page. Strange, perhaps it has been blocked to Australia, or iPads, doesn't make much sense though.

Excellent Post!

Just went through the list

And it doesn't look promising.

France? Germany? In his wildest dreams. All of this current bluster is just talk. Those leaders have to put on a show for their people.

Finland, Ecuador and Russia have already rejected.

No one wants to pick a fight with the US.

I've sent a message to Tim Kirby of RT to contact Maxim Gvinjia

I've sent a message to Tim Kirby of RT to contact Maxim Gvinjia, Foreign minister of ABKHAZIA, to grant Ed Snowden asylum.

Abkhazia's consul could walk over a passport to Snowden and he could hop on board a plane to Sukhum this evening if they so chose.

They could profit enormously from this stunt: Abkhazia is a no-man's-land diplomatically, but they are situated right next to Sochi, which will host the 2014 winter olympics in a few months. They NEED tourist money, and this global scandal would be just the thing to publicize their location and facilities for tourism.

Snowden would put Abkhazia "on the map" so to speak.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

Snowden would put Abkhazia "on the map" so to speak.. :)

Not much better than stateless, but climate & scenery is great

Yeah. Ita not much better than being stateless, but I hear the climate and scenery is close to paradise. If I had to be in exile, I'd probably choose Abkhazia!

Oh, and the new foreign minister is Vyacheslave Chirikba.

On second thought - I'll throw Germany back into the mix

And France too.

The German people, especially East Germans, have suffered under a citizen monitoring regime like this one. There is deep cultural antipathy towards this kind of invasive, heavy handed government. France too was occupied by the Nazis.

Not to mention the latest scandal with the US eavesdropping on EU countries. And the growing worldwide disgust with the US government.

When a little David stands up, it encourages other Davids to stand up.

Thinks look a little bleak for Snowden now, but the darkest hour is right before the dawn.

I think you are completely right about the German People, but I also think they have as little control over their government as we do.

Opportunities missed to do righteousness and reject evil have consequences. Serious consequences.
I can't help but feel a 'hush' in the cosmic arena humanity wrestles in. It chills me to the bone.
