Jefferson Weeping by Judge Napolitano

Do you have more personal liberty today than on the Fourth of July 2012?

When Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, he used language that has become iconic. He wrote that we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, and among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not only did he write those words, but the first Congress adopted them unanimously, and they are still the law of the land today. By acknowledging that our rights are inalienable, Jefferson’s words and the first federal statute recognize that our rights come from our humanity – from within us – and not from the government.

The government the Framers gave us was not one that had the power and ability to decide how much freedom each of us should have, but rather one in which we individually and then collectively decided how much power the government should have. That, of course, is also recognized in the Declaration, wherein Jefferson wrote that the government derives its powers from the consent of the governed.

Is Napolitano afraid to say

Is Napolitano afraid to say our rights come from God, our Creator? That is what Jefferson actually wrote, not that our rights come from our humanity.

Means The Same Thing

And is less apt to turn off atheists like me.

Why aren't more people like Judge Nap 'world leaders'

Answer that question and you will be able to sum up most of human history pretty simply.

Dunno about anybody else

but maybe we could ask his "very close and personal friend" Glenn Beck or his "very close and dear friend" Sean Hannity or his "very dear and trusted friend" Bill O'Reilly or the network from which he's gotten a very fat payckeck over the years. Which is his very close, personal and dear friend.

Must be nice to be the only man that can drink from a poison water fountain and remain eternally youthful but hey, a paycheck is a payckeck.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

I would rather have him on there representing the Republic

Than not have him on there, and not being a solid rep for liberty.

They learn from him. What's his face during the day - Alex - I think the judge has turned him libertarian (small s) on the down low. Among others.

Shep Smith

Very strong civil libertarian and has the Judge on frequently.

I Believe The Judge Is Mistaken About Anwar's Son

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the boy was in search of his father, not with his father, when the drone killed him.
