Smudge Of Oyate sends congrats to Adam Kokesh!

Reports are that Adam marched with a .12Ga and no arrests, no injuries, no violence.

Of course this all has to be verified, video feeds are down....

however we remain optimistic and let the record show that while Smudge Pot did NOT support this initiative, he remains a believer in Adam as a bro.

But IT'S SOUNDING LIKE A WIN! If he open carried in DC with no negative outcome this is a FAN FREAKING TASTIC OUTCOME and I will go ahead and tentatively THANK DC Metro PD, National Parks Police and the liaisons from DHS for helping one of our brothers peacefully demonstrate a simple right. That is appreciated among some of us and we will not fail to recognize these upright acts moving forward. We do indeed function as a partnership for the well being of the populace when we excersize our rights (sic).

Again, for real to you federal guys, not the first time you have done us a solid. Adam is doing his own thing but it means a lot to us. If this is part of the story we'll make sure it gets told.

For us people, Adam might just have scored us an EPIC WIN against all odds. he did what he said he was gonna do and nobody got hurt. Such are the reports.

Smudge, I agree with the reason you disagreed...

you know, the part about not agreeing with what he did but being okay with why he wanted to do it.

In the last week or so I'd been feeling a wee antsy thinking about why Kokesh wasn't getting any coverage here or really elsewhere. Though I made light of it somewhat: http://www.dailypaul.com/286973/kokesh-kokesh-kokesh I also was hard pressed as to whether I should post something, anything, about his march/marches/sit-ins/whatever would ever end up happening. I decided, and decided again, and then again not to post any Kokesh updates. Finally I got the pleasant surprise I didn't know I was waiting for when I saw this 22/23-second video.

So anyway, like Adam said, see you next Independence Day :)

Daily Paul cured my abibliophobia.

I expect charges will be forthcoming.

I think Adam would love to have a trial in D.C. and try to get as much attention as possible.

Regardless of his motivations, I support him on his effort.

Park Police Investigating

Police investigate activist gun-rights activist’s video shot in District
By Ovetta Wiggins, Updated: Thursday, July 4, 5:07 PM

U.S. Park Police and the D.C. police are investigating the authenticity of a video that surfaced Thursday morning that appears to show activist Adam Kokesh loading a shotgun in Freedom Plaza and describing himself as part of the “final American Revolution.”

The police said in a joint statement on Thursday that they are aware of the video posted by Kokesh, which “appears to have been taken in Freedom Plaza.”

A video posted on YouTube that appears to show activist Adam Kokesh loading a shotgun in Freedom Plaza.

(Jim Young/Reuters) - Anti-war protestor Adam Kokesh is seen outside Capitol Hill in Washington in this September 2007 photo.

Kokesh had scheduled a pro-gun protest on July 4 and had asked 1,000 people to carry loaded rifles as they marched across the Memorial Bridge into the District and back to Arlington National Cemetery.

The march, which was canceled, was Kokesh’s most recent attempt to raise attention to one of his causes and, some say, to himself. Over the past six years, Kokesh has protested the Iraq war wearing his Marine Corps uniform and was arrested for an unauthorized dance party inside the Jefferson Memorial.

When Kokesh called off the armed march on Washington, he urged people to instead converge on 50 state capitols to protest gun regulations.

In a 23-second video posted online, Kokesh pulls four shells out of his suit jacket and loads a shotgun while saying: “We will not be silent. We will not obey. We will not allow our government to destroy our humanity. We are the final American Revolution. See you next Independence Day.”

Sgt. Paul Brooks of the U.S. Park Police said officials became aware of the video entitled “Open Carry March on DC A Success” on Thursday morning.

“Adam Kokesh put up a video showing him loading what appears to be a shotgun in what appears to be Freedom Plaza,” Brooks said. “We checked the area and nothing was found. Now we are in the process of trying to authenticate the video.”

Brooks said it is unclear when the video may have been made.

Kokesh could find himself in legal trouble with his latest stunt if the video is authentic: Carrying a loaded weapon, concealed or unconcealed, is against the law in the District. The possession of a firearm not registered in the District carries a penalty up to a year in prison.

to Adam, if true. For as much as he gets beat down even by other liberty folk, I've always found Adam consistent and a great advocate for liberty.
