Venezuela's Maduro Offers Asylum Snowden

CARACAS | Fri Jul 5, 2013 8:16pm EDT

[Reuters] - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Friday he had decided to offer asylum to former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, who has petitioned several countries to avoid capture by Washington.

"I have decided to offer humanitarian asylum to the young American, Edward Snowden, so that in the fatherland of (Simon) Bolivar and (Hugo) Chavez, he can come and live away from the imperial North American persecution," Maduro told a televised parade marking Venezuela's independence day. Snowden is believed to be holed up in the transit area of a Moscow international airport. Read more

Remember when....

we had American cities
declaring themselves as Sanctuaries
in defiance of Federal immigration Law a few years ago?
What about citizens declaring/offering in assembled opposition?
not a 'petition'... a declaration.
Thinkin out loud here...

This is good. Let's hope other countries follow...

Besides, HOW will Edward get there. I don't think they make a jet that has fuel that will last that long. He could fly up and around Iceland without going into anybody's airspace, but I doubt they have a plane that can last that long without refueling.

Anyone else know?

Also, need I remind people that the past Venezuela President Hugo Chavez was poisoned, and they thought it was the CIA/America that did it.

Iceland would have been the easiest to get to. That was a disappointment...big-time.

However, this is still good news. Getting there is a challenge, but even after he gets there, how will he be safe from all those mercenary hit-men?

Wouldn't it be grand,

If ALL the South American Countries offered Snowden Asylum? The Bully wouldn't target a united South America and would have a had time figuring out which country he would be headed for. Shell Game.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

To OMALETA----you had the BEST IDEA actually!

...the BEST IDEA.....a GREAT, GREAT IDEA....and it seems since all those offended South American countries are so ticked off that they could, indeed, offer him asylum in ALL the countries.

That way they could hide Edward pretty easily from the CIA. The CIA would have no idea where he was, then. And, he could be moved around an awful lot. Well, it'd be better than rotting away and being tortured by our Federal government in one of those SUPER MAX prisons I've heard so many awful things about.

AT least he'd be alive and living a fairly "ok" life.

i would love to see the latin

i would love to see the latin people of the world stand as one, with everyone who's not latin, i dont see it happening, but in my mind, its is beautiful thing to behold, you never know, as each generation comes and goes, maybe understanding will reach a tipping point that will set us all free

I am overjoyed...
I had hoped
that the Latin American Leaders Emergency Summit yesterday
was more than just to denounce the air piracy and detention of
Bolivian Morales...

Yea..

and when Edward gets on that airplane...it will either be forced down or shot down.

We shall see if Maduro is more wily than Chavez

He'd best watch what he eats and drinks at any meetings outside Venezuela.

The buzz is that Putin refuses food and drink offered on foreign junkets now 100%.

Bump.

To bad we can't depose the criminals in power so that we could welcome Edward back to the home that he was willing to sacrifice all to save us from unconstitutional abuses.

Free includes debt-free!

Hm . . . Snowden for President?

Two birds with one stone? Just a thought.

He sacrificed his life for the Bill of rights.

Not many candidates would do the same.

I'd say it would be a good start.

Free includes debt-free!

Certainly would be the few

Certainly would be the few who are in there based upon actions, and not "advertisement", you guys already lost one in congress
