NSA Circulated Soldiers' Sex Talk with Wives for Kicks

Maybe scared and afraid to die, afraid maybe these are the last, precious intimate words you are having with your loving, faithful wife. Punks go har har. Just collecting meta-data. Image at YeaRight.jpg

"These were just really everyday, average, ordinary Americans who happened to be in the Middle East, in our area of intercept and happened to be making these phone calls on satellite phones," said Adrienne Kinne, a 31-year old US Army Reserves Arab linguist assigned to a special military program at the NSA's Back Hall at Fort Gordon from November 2001 to 2003.

Kinne described the contents of the calls as "personal, private things with Americans who are not in any way, shape or form associated with anything to do with terrorism.

She said US military officers, American journalists and American aid workers were routinely intercepted and "collected on" as they called their offices or homes in the United States.

....

Faulk says he and others in his section of the NSA facility at Fort Gordon routinely shared salacious or tantalizing phone calls that had been intercepted, alerting office mates to certain time codes of "cuts" that were available on each operator's computer.

"Hey, check this out," Faulk says he would be told, "there's good phone sex or there's some pillow talk, pull up this call, it's really funny, go check it out..."

This is news?

I guess if you didn't grow up in the military it's news.

I grew up in the military and there was no such thing as privacy.

We had a military ID, we had to pass through a armed gate to and from base, we had to obide by the laws on the base, we had to show our military ID on the base to go to the commissary, PX, theatre, pool, you name it.. we had several phones, one I could never touch because that was the only secure line and it was for, by and of the military. We had military police AND shore patrol adn they never stopped patrolling 24/7.

Military is not civilians.. you give up your rights. Don't folks who join the military read the documents they sign?

This is EXACTLY the reason

This is EXACTLY the reason why they should NOT have the capability, MISUSE........SHALLOW accountability

The only way, and even then, hell fcking NO, they can have a system like this, is if, by some magic witchery, they create a system that identifies those who mean imediate harm 110% accurately, and it being akin to mountain meet imovable object in regards to ever getting access to those WITH RIGHTS, to which EVERYBODY HAS, so it would STILL be an illegal tool

I think good old fashioned probable cause will suffice

...along with judge's warrants and good old fashioned police work and intelligence work. That old piece of paper, the Constitution, seems more brilliant every day in the way it guarded liberty while giving necessary tools to law enforcement.

Release the Sandy Hook video.

Well isn't that just generous of the NSA ...

I mean after all, who wouldn't want their sexual conversations passed around like a football at the Superbowl....

What a great organization the NSA is... they are awesome and great. Without them, the earth would stop spinning and the Sun would NO longer give its light.

Thanks to you NSA, the Universe can exist!!! Hooray and Yay!!!

Sincerely,

An NSA LOVER!!!!

I notice some disinfo about the Snowden leaks

Some of this information was available since Russel Tice went through normal congressional whistleblower channels in 2009 as soon as Bush left office.

The thing is, there was a media blackout (aside from Keith Olbermann), and the hearings didn't do squat.

The difference with Snowden is that he is not only whisteblowing through the media rather than Congress, but he is also doing it partly through foreign media and out-of-country.

95% of the DP membership certainly have never heard about it, such was the strength of the Blackout. You can still find the interviews on youtube.

This story makes me question this whole Snowden show

even more. If divulging this kind of thing is worthy of so much attention and the leakers are such outlaws, why weren't these people household names 5 years ago (Adrienne Kinne, Faulk)??
That time around, when all the same revelations this Snowden character is supposedly making now were revealed, there was no hoopla, no presidential comments, no russian supermodel spies, and none of the fun back story.

Daniel Ellsberg coming out and saying Snowden is the real

...thing is enough for me. Ellsberg got his street cred by facing life in prison from Nixon.

Release the Sandy Hook video.

Ellsburg was the same kind of show though

"Limited Hangout"
A main character from the last giant diversion like this coming out trying to give it credibility doesn't help my opinion on this matter.

It did not

get much attention at all. Local press, TV and papers, covered it for one day. A few people, myself included, remembered it when Snowden released his info. Why was it not widely distributed? Probably because the MSM didn't want to embarrass the administration.

"this kind of thing"

Problem could be that the US gov't truly does not know the full scope of what Snowden has and is willing to release. That's why he's more of a threat- he went totally rogue. All things considered we can't draw a very useful comparison between Snowden and these leakers.

The article is from 2008

I'm sure this hasn't changed over the years, though.

Snowden said personal,, private conversations of ordinary

...citizens. If anything NSA is bigger, better funded, more arrogant than ever before. 5 years since this report means absolutely nothing. So you are right.

Release the Sandy Hook video.

Just emailed

Glenn Greenwald at the Guardian with a link to the video. Will be interesting to see where he goes with this.

What is it with you people?

Thank you for

bringing this up. I live 20 miles from Ft. Gordon in Augusta, GA and recall when this hit the news.

And we are suppose to believe that the actual conversations are not being recorded. I guess that depends on what they mean by "recorded". "Of course we are not recording your conversations on reel-to-reel magnetic tape".

Everybody needs to read James Bamford's books on the NSA. It was in one of them that I first learned about Operation Northwoods. For those not familiar with Norhwoods, you would never in a hundred years believe it was true if a friend just walked up to you and started telling you the story. Check it out on Wikipedia.

Bamford talks about all conversations being screened by computer for key words and this screening is being carried out in Israel under contract with the US government.
