For All Those Who Think The Golden Rule is Good-It's a LIE! (Satire)

The golden rule is a lie!! No where in the Bible does it say that you have to follow the golden rule with EVERYONE!

Do unto other as you would have them do unto you does not apply if you think they are sinners, different from you, or if you just don't like 'em!

If someone is a sinner, it is our religious freedom to treat them different, and our christ-like mission to let them know that they're going to hell unless they convert.

If we can make laws to limit their freedom that would be even better!

I mean think about it!

Why should people who disrespect "gods law" deserve to be protected by it?

UPDATE: I didn't think it need to be stated but this is SATIRE and a response to a few other posts as well as one in particular.

This is not satire,

because it is neither funny nor relevant. IMHO.

And behold! The revelations

And behold! The revelations of the great DP hath commanded that thou shall type satirical posts in thy color of purple. If thou not color thy text purple thy fellow DPers shall surely misinterpret your words and smite thee with furious down votes. For this is thy wisdom of the great internet prophet Poe and his words shall be heeded by thee.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

lol

i still dont know how to do that lol

For someone citing "God's Law" you sure are misguided

Unconditional Love is what your Jesus ultimately teaches yet here is your post preaching conditional love instead.

I'm sorry but you can't have it both ways.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

youre right

i should have labeled this as satire at the get go :/

That would have helped but

is negatively focused satire really the best use of your, or anyone's, time? Are we able to make the points you wanted to make from a positive perspective without the need of satire at all? I think so.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

are you saying satire doesn't have a role/place?

I'd have to disagree. A lot of times it makes one see things from a different perspective and in an entertaining way.

This is nothing in the way of negativity compared to the threads specifically created to denigrate and spew hate towards an entire group of people.

You may notice another thread with a similar title and the multitude of anti-gay threads that have popped up since SCOTUS ruled? That is what THIS is in response to.

Have you ever been told by another DP member that you should be killed because you are gay? Not only that but "Galt is Good" said it was in the Bible!

Capital crimes in Scripture

It could be done with more tact, but I appreciate being warned of danger. These crimes are dangerous. Science has shown early deaths, even when we don't actively enforce the death penalty. Some call it natural law, karma, cause and effect. Some people truly believe you are in danger, and they are simply trying to warn you. It's not always hate. Sometimes, but not always.

Murder (Exodus 21:12)
Hitting parents (Ex 21:15)
Kidnapping (Ex 21:16)
Cursing parents (Ex 21:17)

also if girl is raped she should be killed too

sometimes hate is just that, hate.

there is ZERO love in the anti-gay posts I have read here.

And WHERE does it say that?

Ok

I don't doubt that you have read posts like that.

But you are wrong about the rape law in the Scripture. I have seen it mistranslated. I can't find "if girl is raped she should be killed."

There are 3 different key words used, "entice" "force" and "lay hold"

Exodus 22:16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

Deuteronomy 22:23 If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26 but unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27 for he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Sure Satire has a place

perhaps your delivery was a bit off and it just came off like another one of "those" posts. Maybe if you used the sub cat 'Humor' or something?

As a straight man, no, I have never been told by anyone I should die because I'm gay, but I'm sure my gay friends had their share of pains growing up before they came out.

I guess what I was trying to say is that even though you were trying to be satirical, perhaps be more obvious about it so we can all join in and have a good laugh. It's too hard too get satire in written form as it is.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

to each his own.

i like what i wrote. like i said it's a response to other posts that are outright attacks on me and people like me.

"An eye for an eye...

...leaves the whole world blind."

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

youre equating satire to a threat of violence??

now i totally disagree

Who's threatening violence? I'm not. You're not.

Are you responding to the wrong person or reading into my comment and seeing things that aren't there?

If you are responding to the "Eye for an eye" comment, then it has no exclusive link to threats of violence. You stated yourself that you were creating the post in response to, "...threads specifically created to denigrate and spew hate towards an entire group of people." But you're own post was the same thing. Oh, but it was satire. Sorry. Clearly the downvotes you got reflect that you didn't communicate that very well.

I'm trying to be helpful so that you can better craft your next post not here to argue with you because I think what you were TRYING to do is very valid and important to counter those threads that spew hate.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

You are providing a total misinterpretation....

Refer to Jesus' words on "the second greatest commandment". He is saying to hold thy neighbor to the SAME standards as thyself. Do you condemn others for the SAME things you are doing; then you are a hypocrite.

Also, refer to the parable of "the Good Samaritan". The Samaritans were such vicious pagans that Jesus forbade his disciples from entering their villages to teach. However, Jesus used the point of the "Good Samaritan" to point out ANYONE can do good and should not be judged simply for his beliefs.

If you plan to hold someone to your standards, then be prepared to follow the highest standards to yourself; and be prepared to treat yourself with as much ruthlessness as you would treat a transgressor with different beliefs. THAT'S the "Golden Rule."

like the the DP member "Good Samaritan" who said...

and a lame diversion from your blanket statement about an entire group of people saying that sodomites are just like everyone else

People who define themselves by the kind of sex they enjoy are a danger to society

I have several good reasons to be wary of sodomites in particular since they've proven to me repeatedly that they can be a danger to myself and my family when they have the opportunity

Typical sodomite taking language and hijacking it to suit your agenda. Then cover for deviants by calling their actions "silly stories". Sickening.

The only deep issue I have with sodomites is that two of your ilk in two separate acts [learn to read] attempted to assault me because they're sexual predators.

I suppose in your worldview I wouldn't have "issues" if I had simply let them destroy my life. You people are seriously twisted.

I've forgotten...

"Do unto other as you would have them do unto you."

In what verse /chapter /book is that written. I'm serious, I can't remember. In other words, where is it stated in the Bible we're to apply such instruction [toward anyone]?

It's a shame that you hold God responsible for human failings

God didn't tell people to treat each other like garbage and pass judgement, in fact Jesus said just the opposite many times. It doesn't stop humans from being judgmental little tyrants to each other. We all have our shortcomings and we all sin. It probably hurts when people tell you your lifestyle is an abomination to God, but it doesn't mean anything to God. Will the sin of homosexuality be judged more severely than the sin of greed or avarice? Only God knows.

Answer this.

If your neighbor were standing, trapped, on a railroad bridge, but a guy was offering a way off, wouldn't it be following the Golden Rule to point that guy out to your neighbor?

More importantly, would it be hateful to point out to your neighbor that not taking the offer of escape would result in death?

hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,

Christians should not be warmongers! http://www.lewrockwell.com/vance/vance87.html

I mean you no

Disrespect, but all I can see that you put into this post is some 3rd grade logic. Did this thought of yours just pop into your head all of a sudden, and it being such a revelation you just had to share it with the world? Sure you could treat sinners like shit if that is your prerogative, but what happened to the words of your savior? Something to do with "turning the other cheek?"

“When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.” – Dresden James

No.7's picture

Who are you calling a sinner? Sinner.

Seriously, do you really think you don't sin?
"if they are a sinner it's our religious freedom to treat them differently"
What is that supposed to mean?

"Love one another, as I have loved you"
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you"
"He who is without sin shall cast the first stone"

Hypocritical Christians are the people that drive others away from the churches. Many people I know do not go to church because they're tired of being belligerent told they're going to hell for my sinful lifestyle while the same people commit sins of vanity, gluttony, envy, lustful thinking, sloth, and countless other sins every day.

We all sin. We were made that way.
