I don't think it is, I

I don't think it is, I consulted the 'Book of Knowledge' and her name is Mimi Smith-Dvorack, although with that said, I like where you are going with this. I would recommend that everyone at the DailyPaul listen to No Agenda, if they don't already. :P

Back to the future

maybe it was like the Delorean had to get to 88ft per sec for the flux cap to work>?

Since the engine was behind the car...

it must have came out before the car impacted the tree where it came to rest.

Simple physics will tell you that the engine - by the way still attached to the transmission - would continue to move in the direction of travel upon detachment. Seeing as how it would be impossible for the engine to travel opposite to the momentum of the vehicle (without another outside force acting upon it), one must conclude that the engine came out of the car prior to impacting the tree.

I think it's time to rule foul play back in.

It seems to me Michael Hastings was murdered - probably by the use of an explosive device in combination with an electronic takeover of his vehicle by the perpetrators. Who has these type of capabilities? I think everyone knows the answer.

Stalin is smiling upon these revelations. This is not your dad's America anymore. The tyrants have declared war on journalists. This may be the beginning of the purge.

If there was an explosion

If there was an explosion prior, wouldn't the debris field be much different? Shouldn't there be a massive amount of debris 500+ feet or more before the impact site? Especially if it was powerful enough to rip an engine out of a car?

Look at these two crashes done by mythbusters:
50MPH vs 100MPH

Notice the level of disintegration at 100MPH. In the mythbusters crash the engine was not running and there was no fuel tank. In Hasting's 100MPH crash there was likely ~16 gallons of 92 octane fuel and a rather large engine spinning at 5000+ RPM.

Could it be possible for the engine to be ejected at the time the car disintegrated at the tree? Combined with a gyroscopic effect and a still spinning drivetrain is it possible that it could have rolled itself backwards 200 feet after the crash?

I only bring this up because using an explosive probably is a dumb thing to do if you are trying to fake an accident.

It would make much more sense to me to take over the electronics with a payload that runs in RAM only. Once power is disconnected by the crash all traces of it are forever lost. If this payload was able to prevent the data logger from recording at the time of execution there would be zero evidence of foul play in the black box (if it happened to survive the ensuing fire as well)

To answer your question...

Could it be possible for the engine to be ejected at the time the car disintegrated at the tree? Combined with a gyroscopic effect and a still spinning drivetrain is it possible that it could have rolled itself backwards 200 feet after the crash?

To answer your first question:

If there was an explosion prior, wouldn't the debris field be much different? Shouldn't there be a massive amount of debris 500+ feet or more before the impact site? Especially if it was powerful enough to rip an engine out of a car?

Not necessarily. One must consider a directionally controlled explosion.

>No. Care to explain? I'm not

Care to explain? I'm not trying to be rude, I'd like to know what makes you so sure?

I'm a scientist...

that is very comfortable with physics.

If the engine were ejected upon impact with the tree, its momentum would have been in the direction of travel of the vehicle. Thus, the engine would have ended up in front of the crash site rather than behind it.

How do I know that it didn't roll backwards some 200+ feet after making contact with the ground? First of all, I seriously doubt that the engine, upon detachment, would spin rapidly like a billiard ball with low English imparted on it. Second, how long does it take for the rpm's of an engine to drop once the fuel supply and ignition system stop working? In other words, when you turn off your car, does the engine continue to turn over for some time, or does it stop immediately? In order for the engine to roll backwards, (poorly balanced) internal parts of the engine would have to continue to spin after fuel and electrical supply ceased. This is highly unlikely to the point of virtual impossibility. Third, even if the engine somehow had this very improbable amount of spin, it would have to overcome the great deal of forward momentum imparted to it from it traveling forward at the velocity of the vehicle.

So, my answer is no. The engine could not have rolled backwards some 200 feet. The JFK Magic Bullet Theory is more believable.

The engine was ejected at some point before the car impacted the tree and at some point before where the engine came to rest.

I had college physics 25

I had college physics 25 years ago and remember much of my studies.

The point of explosive detonation probably happened at some point before the resting point of the engine. How far would the engine travel at speed, carry it forward after explosive detachment from the car? Calculate back from engine resting point and you have the point of detonation. You may find explosive residue and burn marks on the street there.

I need to know the mass of the engine + transmission...

I looked for this information the other day but couldn't find it. Other than that, I could make assumptions about his velocity and other factors.

One interesting observation that I've made is that the engine landed on the sidewalk that was on the passenger side of the vehicle. This strongly suggests that the explosion occurred on the driver's side of the car - thereby imparting the ejected engine + transmission with momentum perpendicular to the direction of travel that would result in it ending up where it did.

I would be happy to perform the calculations if I can just find those masses.

Is there DNA evidence?

I pray that this is part of his final communication, "I need to go off the rada[r] for a bit."

Hopefully we will hear from him again. If not, RIP and thoughts and prayers for those affected.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

I wonder how they get so many

I wonder how they get so many government employees to comply with these types of cover-ups?

"I was just following orders."

Another botched government

Another botched government assassination. Way too much fluoride ingestion by our government agents. Are these agents not capable of understanding basic Physics 101? Looks like they used 400% more C4 than needed. The engine lands 200' behind forward momentum of 100+MPH speed? Did the Earth suddenly start spinning in reverse at time of impact? What will bother science minded people way into the future is having their understanding of Physics twisted into impossible contortions. This issue is not going away.

His car was hacked, according to a top counterterrorism expert

under Bush, Clinton and Reagan.

"I'm not a conspiracy guy. In fact, I've spent most of my life knocking down conspiracy theories," said Clarke, who ran afoul of the second Bush administration when he criticized the decision to invade Iraq after 9/11. "But my rule has always been you don't knock down a conspiracy theory until you can prove it [wrong]. And in the case of Michael Hastings, what evidence is available publicly is consistent with a car cyber attack. And the problem with that is you can't prove it."

Yep. Feds did it. You can't make this stuff up.

There is a data stream that

There is a data stream that controlled the car. That data stream is probably captured on many hard drives. It'll probably be copied many times and will probably turn up.

If you like both this piece and Ben Swann...

...I highly recommend Russ Baker's website: WhoWhatWhy.com. He calls himself a "forensic journalist" and is the author of an incredible book on the Bush family called "Family Of Secrets". I highly recommend both the book and the website. Russ Baker to me, is one of the best things the liberty movement has got going for it but I don't think people fully recognize it yet. I feel to some degree like I'm trying to wake people up about his work.

the engine was behind the crash

and the eyewitness said the car was in flames before it hit the tree.

How the hell

can these "officials" "rule out foul play"?

All this talk about remote control, I believe, is subterfuge to cover for the fact that the car was blown up.

What's really depressing is that all the cops are complicit in the cover-up.

"If this mischievous financial policy [greenbacks], which has its origin in North America, should become endurated down to a fixture, then that government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off its debts and be without debts. It will hav

It is clearly murder

All the indications are that this was clearly murder. Very clear.

actually did some investigating, unlike msm reporters, on a side note is mercedes investigating why their car exploded?

I think we should petition Mercedes to do an investigation. Would they let their reputation go into the toilet to cover up? Would they be forced to be? It would be an interesting thing to find out.

I just sent San Diego 6 News this comment:

Just writing to say thank you to San Diego 6 News, Jeff Powers and Kimberly Dvorak for your recent coverage of Michael Hastings' very suspicious death and the Police and Fire Departments' very suspicious admissions they were told to not say anything."

My Letter:

I just wanted to thank you for running that piece on the Michael Hastings investigation (URL below). Sadly, honesty in the media these days is greatly lacking. It's encouraging to see stuff like this though. Keep up the good work!

By the way, you will definitely grow your audience with more pieces like this (that is, *actual journalism* rather than just accepting the official story). There are a large group of people who are starved for this type of stuff. Ben Swann is one example of a rising news star who ran similar pieces.

Anyway, again, thank you!

Mine with constructive criticism

Thank you very much for running this news piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O__VgJKB59I

The death of Michael Hastings, as well as Aaron Swartz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz), the unlawful detention of Brandon Raub (http://intellihub.com/2013/05/26/jailed-for-facebook-comment...), the detention of whistleblower Bradley Manning, and the in-Iceland "detention" of Julian Assange (if he leaves the Ecuadorean embassy, he'll be in a cell similar to Bradley Manning) all point to corruption in the US government.

News like you just reported is critical to returning this country to its Constitutional roots, so that we can have the prosperity and peace of the 1800s, rather than the wars of the 1900s which were generally caused by central banking. (That's another story for you -- but that particular rabbit hole goes very deep, you can start with "The Creature from Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin, either in book form or there are plenty of YouTube videos of his speeches.)

Journalism like this is refreshing and welcome. I will note that the female speaker seemed to have a slight speech impediment, which can be off-putting to some in the audience (and also makes parsing the information slightly more difficult). I would suggest Toastmasters as a way to improve her speech (there are plenty of other methods; I've used Toastmasters before and they're effective and relatively inexpensive; no affiliation other than as a satisfied customer).

Please continue educating the public about what is going on. When police and fire "officials" have told you that they were told not to talk, there's a story right there. Find out who told them not to talk, and talk to them. If they received orders, move up the chain. Ultimately you will find the people responsible.

Hopefully you won't meet the same fate that Michael Hastings met. But there are legions of you journalists, including citizen ones. The truth will out.

In Liberty,

Be careful, I am incredibly glad that I copied it here because their form gave me an error "The email list provided by the Form is incorrectly formmated, please enter on the Form properties a valid email addresses separated by a comma." However, it was a JavaScript function and did not load another page, so it cleared my above feedback and there was no "back" button! Poorly-written web code here, so compose in another location and paste it there.

WTF that is twice now that I'm unable to submit! Perhaps I need to enter a phone number, even though the phone is optional? No, that didn't work either. This was fun, but I'm done, hopefully they'll see my feedback here.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Okay I figured it out! Choose the first drop-down option

The first option was "General New Comments about San Diego 6 News". I had chosen the second option, "Give us your feedback."

When I resubmitted choosing the first option (with "Why isn't this working?"), it went through.

So then I tried the above wall of text, and it went through too (so it wasn't e.g. an SQL sanitization issue).

So: if you're going to submit feedback to them, choose the first option from the drop-down.

I also gave them this feedback as well, that their intake form is broken:

"Can't submit feedback from the second option, "Give us your feedback." -- it gives the error "The email list provided by the Form is incorrectly formmated, please enter on the Form properties a valid email addresses separated by a comma."

I was then able to submit my feedback using the first option, "General New Comments about San Diego 6 News", which I did (I also submitted one prior to that, "Why isn't this working?", and it did work when I chose that drop-down option).

This feedback is to let you know that something is broken in your web intake form, and thus you might not be hearing from as many of your users as are attempting to notify you (because I took the extra effort to debug it).

I hope this helps,

I also then submitted a link back to here:

"I just gave some feedback, I forgot to mention that I saw your article at the Daily Paul, a source of excellent news and information, please pass this along to the two journalists from the Michael Hastings piece: http://www.dailypaul.com/291752/michael-hastings-police-and-...

Please share with your journalistic staff: the Daily Paul has excellent news, and is a source for Ben Swann who just went independent (from Fox 19 in Cincinnati). You would be more profitable if you source some news from there and share with the people the reality of the situation.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

I'm going to send one too

This is a good idea! Thank you for posting their contact form. We should thank any news coverage that searches for the actual truth.

So the LAPD

- Rules out foul play

- Without having contacted the manufacturer of the car

- But won't release their report

- And instructs responders not to discuss the incident

Well, it's not like they have a whole lot of credibility to lose in
the first place, but that still seems pretty pathetic for either a
real investigation or a cover-up...

Was Hastings following Micheal Dorner leads?

An LAPD cover-up?

I hope the whistleblower comes forward again. These cold-blooded murders must end.

Take tips from Ed Snowden. Read the Scarlet Pimpernel.

They are so scared that we will put their whole criminal gang in prison for life that they are resorting to killing.

Congresses are worthless and at the mercy of the security apparatus they created.

Free includes debt-free!

However, original testimonies ...

...commented that the engine was PERPENDICULAR to the scene of the explosion and not BEHIND it.

Not such a big deal I suppose.

The relevant thing being that the engine was blown out of the car. I've never even heard of that.

Just like WTC7, the evidence (which we'll never see) should include elements common to incendiary devices. That would prove there was a bomb, but of course, we will never see such evidence. Classified! Locked up for 50 years. Such transparency.

I like how the blonde reporter tiptoed around the language she used and said words which described a "bomb" but never came right out and said "bomb." She doesn't want to appear as a "conspiracy theorist."

It will be interesting to see how long she is ordered by her boss to stand down from her investigation. I'm frankly surprised she got permission to air this story and do the investigative work that she's done so far.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

Kim Dvorak doesn't have a boss

as far as I know - she is a local free lance reporter/writer here in SD - mostly I see her opinion columns which are good :)
