Well, I guess that's it for Jack Hunter.

http://freebeacon.com/rebel-yell/

In a 50-minute interview with the Washington Free Beacon on Monday, Hunter renounced most of his comments.

In one 2004 commentary, Hunter said Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth’s heart was “in the right place.”

“Although Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth’s heart was in the right place, the Southern Avenger does regret that Lincoln’s murder automatically turned him into a martyr,” he said in 2004.

He later wrote that he “raise[s] a personal toast every May 10 to celebrate John Wilkes Booth’s birthday.”

He also compared Lincoln to Saddam Hussein and suggested that the 16th president would have had a romantic relationship with Adolf Hitler if the two met.

Gasp! But Lincoln was a ... Republican!

What he says is very typical in the south

When I lived in New Orleans, I didn't know anyonew who liked Lincoln (and of they did, they didn't say) Because to the south, Lincoln did not end slavery.. slavery was an excuse. The North was jealous of the South because they South was rich and didn't need or want an industrial revolution, which has led us to the corportization we know today. Top ot off.. Obama was all about Lincoln, "Lincoln was my favorite president".. go figure

Jack Hunter Issues an 'I Hope This Will Save My Job' Statement

Jack's statement:

http://www.southernavenger.com/uncategorized/my-statement-on...

Robert Wenzel responds:

Jack,

There is nowhere near enough in your statement to make the neocons happy. You would have had to have called, in your statement, for immediate troops on the ground in Syria, a nuclear strike on Iran and a drone strike on Edward Snowden, for them to even consider you as a possible luggage carrying aide to Rand.

It's over. Rand wants to be president and they are going to bloody him, with his association with you, until you are set adrift. At this point, they will judge Rand merely on how quickly it takes him to cut you loose.

This Will Really Hurt Rand

He's got enough to overcome race-wise with his comments on the Civil Rights Act. The media will make hay over this association. I bet they even bring up the newsletters.

Jack Hunter just gave them a bigger kitchen sink to throw at Rand.

The irony is that Jack Hunter

The irony is that Jack Hunter constantly accuses his critics of only viewing the Constitution in a big-government light. Yet Jack Hunter is guilty of only viewing the Constitution in a state's rights light.

And of course, according to him, the Confederacy was a noble and brave movement full of philosophical merit, not at all driven by harsh economics and selfish, practical, interests.

Jack Who ?

Don't Give me Liberty, I'll get up and get it myself!

wtf are you all talking about?

When did Jack Hunter get tossed aside on DP? Even if the DP crowd doesn't still like him, his fan base is likely about 1000 times larger than it would be had he stuck to the DP crowd, like Rand's is as well. The standard DP talking points are sorta toxic in their hyperbole.

After he tossed aside the "Conspiracy Theorists"

Oh Jack Hunter, say it ain't so: "Bilderberg conspiracies have become a handicap for the Liberty Movement "

For those

folks at the top trying to make headway in Washington and move us forward he couldn't be more right with that statement. Some of you young Turds would rather watch your country burn to the ground than suck it up a little and understand what it takes to move forward in the political arena which was what he was trying to say in the first place.

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."

geez. I've been saying that

geez. I've been saying that for a lot longer than Jack. Good thing the AJ fans only THINK they're important. :)

Ironic.

Hunter is seeing himself as a

Hunter is seeing himself as a larger brand. Good for him. He should milk it for all it's worth. Make some decent money on it. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Hunter should come up with more clever faux pas. Say Rand is a sun worshiper and thinks the sun controls the climate of the planet. Whatever gets the progressers panties in a bunch is OK with me.

he should stick by his guns and support what he said.

Player.

I'll bet he feels stupid he dissed the 'fringe', Ron Paul crowd now. Where's he going to go now? He'll have to create yet another identity. Rand's got newer, better, more powerful friends now and is snubbing Hunter like Hunter snubbed the libertarians. What goes around, comes around.

The dude...

has burnt all his bridges. Classic karma. :>

How long 'till Rand throws him under the bus?

These are the big leagues now

Hunter is backtracking like crazy.

Jack plays minor league ball.

He felt compelled to comment when he should have kept his mouth shut.

He suffers from Jesse-itis.
