Pope Criminalizes Leaks, Sex Abuse In First Laws

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Francis overhauled the laws that govern the Vatican City State on Thursday, criminalizing leaks of Vatican information and specifically listing sexual violence, prostitution and possession of child pornography as crimes against children that can be punished by up to 12 years in prison.

does other things too

The leaks bit is worrisome because it can be used to persecute people exposing wrong doing. As a Catholic, I am praying for the day that God will lance the boil that is the Roman Curia. Although, note that the penalties are 8 years maximum (vs what is happening to Manning). Emeritus Pope Benedict has already pardoned his former butler.)

There are good things enacted here:

First of all it defines crimes and gives penalties for sexual crimes against and trafficking of children.

It condemns racism AND crimes against humanity such as torture. (Santorum wont be happy) which will be a big help in talking to Catholic neocons.
