Am I the only one on DP that thinks Zimmerman was guilty?

You know I think back to when this whole Trevon Martin shooting broke. People were outraged that Zimmerman was not charged. I mean whites and blacks alike.

Then something changed. Somehow this became a race issue.

Who was really standing their ground that night. Zimmerman who had a gun, or Trevon Martin.

A seventeen year old is dead. What did he do? How did Zimmerman end up in a physical fight with Trevon Martin? Martin wasn't looking for trouble, he hadn't robbed anyone. This kid who was walking along eating skittles blapping on his cell phone just decided he was going to beat Zimmerman to death.

No one will ever convince me that Trevon Martin instigated a fight that night. Zimmerman was a tough guy with a gun, and an vigilante mind set.

Zimmerman was looking for trouble that night and he found it, he just didn't expect that Martin was going to turn the tables on him.

How the hell did this issue get turned around?

No one knows what really happened that night. I do know that Trevon was on that property legally and unarmed, and I do know Zimmerman was told NOT to follow him.

I think he obviously ignored that advice, followed Martin and attempted to detain him and it got physical.

Martin got the better of him Zimmerman shot him.

Just think for minute how this would have turned out if Zimmerman had not pursued Martin. Martin would have made it to his destination and none of this would have happened, or what id Zimmerman was not armed? He would have gotten the shit kicked out of him and learned a dam good lesson and Trevon Martin would still be alive.

Now have fun down voting me but before you do think about the original facts and how this whole tragedy began.

I think he was

Even if it was in self defense,Zimmerman was out there trying to be a bad ass.He wanted to be a cop & couldn't.This was his way of pretending. He went out looking for trouble, and now a 17yr old boy is dead.
Zimmerman is a dumb ass,and at minimum,he should have his fire arm rights revoked! He is too dumb to carry a fire arm!!!

No

He was not out there trying to be a bad ass. That is a STORY being PUSHED by TPTB.

He was doing his neighborhood watch duty, period.

Probably not

..but, I don't even think it should have been put to a trial. The officials were right in the first place, they had no evidence as the trial's outcome proves it again. Going to trial wrongfully puts an innocent person at risk. It was held to appease the courts in the streets. It was a dangerous precedence, bowing to the extortion of mobs while risking the innocent is not what this country is about.

The real problem? He should have been taught that initiating wrongful behavior to others can lead to sorrowful outcomes. Turn the other cheek and walk away. It's taught for a reason.

Give Zimmerman his gun back.

Have a blessed day.

Should be reinstated as Police Chief, he was proven right!

Sent to trial by the street mobs. Chief was fired because he was protecting Zimmerman's rights. Was Zimmerman's 4th amendment right violated by the mobs AND the DOJ (smoking gun held by our POTUS)? Yes it was.

"After extreme public outrage over the delay in arresting Zimmerman, Lee was sacked for lack of confidence in May after only serving for 10 months. Lee says that when he was told by a city commissioner that all they wanted was an arrest, he explained "you just can't do that… you have to have probably cause to arrest somebody." Despite public outrage concerning the developments of the investigation, Lee's decision to protect Zimmerman's Fourth Amendment right of ensuring probable cause before arrest was ultimately the right one."

i also love how zimmerman

i also love how zimmerman didn't testify. what a pussy! what dignified man would not want to clear his name and state his side of the story.

One with the least understanding of the court system.

We may be dumb as sheep, but we herd like cats, and are more clever than monkeys. What sane person would think us cattle?

I am with you!

I am disgusted by the support for Zimmerman on this site. I thought we were libertarians, and no one here thinks that an armed person of authority should not be held accountable for their abuse of power and complete disregard for a direct order that he blatantly disobeyed. and because of that, a young man died.

The Direct ORder

Story is A LIE!!! A MYTH!!! Look it up online bro, it's made up.

Thank you thank you

You post give's me hope...reading the responses to Peggy R. was like drowning in a sea of venom....seriously WTF?

you're welcome

and thank you for your thank you. i was starting too feel so discouraged that libertarians are now being the ones saying "oh well trayvon said bad things on the internet and smoked marijuana"--i'm glad to see not all of us have slipped into bizzaro world.

Libertarian minded people are still around

Although I hate to admit it seems the DP is being inundated by trolls or neocons and the like......it use to be more liberty minded people sharing hope and learning from each other..just getting downright mean and more and more "bizzaro".....pretty sad.....

Not executed...

...instead people should make a note of where the source of some of the venom comes from. Her narrations, cries and statements are like adrenaline for the emotional crowds. Talk about yelling fire, she also assisted in the conflagration.

Yeah.

Probably. But, stick by your opinion. There is a slight possibility you may be right and everyone else is wrong. I have seen it happen.
The people who count - the jury - found him not guilty. Case closed.

All i know this that these

All i know this that these type of events happpen every day in this county and nobody cares. Its only when the media picks it up and runs with it everyone gets involved. Its the "backyard" sociology theory. A court case in Florida is really none of my business but the media makes it seem like this happened a block away from my house and its my duty to get involved.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

I don't disagree with the

I don't disagree with the jury and their ruling, however I would like to know what exactly did Zimmerman look like that night? Frankly, the image of him on that night that came from police documenting his wounds makes him look like a gang member.

If was being pursued by someone who looked like a gang member, I might fear for my life, especially if I was unarmed. There are many possible reasons a confrontation could be triggered.

Still, having said that their state laws apply and outcries from people outside their state are irrelevant.

One thing

I disagree with you about is outcries from people outside their state being irrelevant. I agree it's irrelevant to their verdict, but it's not totally irrelevant. This thread and debates across the country represent public opinion, which is relevant. This is how the liberty movement is gaining steam.

Yes, but public opinion

Yes, but public opinion should not trump states rights unless there is some kind of clear cut constitutional violation.

This case is being

This case is being politicized to win elections. Period. Zimmerman is innocent. He defended himself. And our POTUS says we should honor the thug who tried to kill him. No president has any place to chose sides in case like this. And noe the DOJ is going to drag this out through elections.

Elections, and Legislation,

Elections, and Legislation, and Policy, and Public Division, and Appointed Offices, and ...

We may be dumb as sheep, but we herd like cats, and are more clever than monkeys. What sane person would think us cattle?

guilty of what is the question!

zimmerman was already out of the car when he was on the phone.
this is when trevon supposidly came at zimmer and the confrontation
ensued. The only other evidence is that trevon was on top and
apparently winning.

Now, if zimmerman had stayed in his car, probably none of this would have happened. But, this action was not illegal, but not smart.

With the witness saying that trevon was on top, and the wounds
zimmer had, the question is did zim "believe" he was in mortal
danger.

Apparently bad moves by all parties involved.
Just not enough evidence to convict anyone.
And that does not mean clearly innocent.
Lots of guilty people go free for lack of evidence.

So, Neither YOU nor I should

So, Neither YOU nor I should exit our vehicle out of concern for the safety of our own neighborhoods? -- And according to some other comments, If we do, we shouldn't be armed?

Mortal danger OR

fear of bodily harm....

I think he was receiving bodily harm at the time of the justifiable shooting.

please keep down voting to show your utter ignorance of the law

What you down voted is the very statue that states one is justified in using deadly force if they fear they are in mortal danger or "great fear of bodily harm".

Florida statute 776.013:
Home protection; use of deadly force; presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm.

Pull your skirts up, your ignorance is showing.

I haven't paid much attention

I haven't paid much attention to this case but I hold the same view prior to zimm's conviction. he was acquitted, so be it. yet he bears culpability for the death he caused, and he knows it. that is why he asked the police investigator about her crucifix and asked if she was Catholic. Zimm was raised Catholic and probably has a conscience. I'm all for gun rights and self defense but the whole mess seems to have been easily avoided if zimm hadn't been such a fruit loop collectivist BUSIBODY. that is the bottom line FACT.

As I wrote last year in George H.W. Bush wore hoodies at White House

People across the country have been bickering and speculating about the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case, taking sides largely based on their own perspectives. The fact is that this paranoid busibody and registered Democrat George Zimmerman called the cops constantly over absolute nonsense. Potholes. Stray dogs. Trash in the street. People loitering. Suspicious persons. Someone driving without headlights. A bike rider popping wheelies. Youths playing basketball. Kids playing in the street. Slow drivers. Aggressive drivers. Music too loud. Etc, Etc, Etc. Just based on that alone, Zimmerman sounds like a complete fruit loop, an unstable busibody kook, memserized with police and obsessed with "turning people in" for real or imagined violations. A libertarian's worst nitemare. The absolute worst kind of neighbor one could have, in my opinion. Normal people have lives, and aren't obsessed with peering out the windows worrying about the minutia of what everyone else is doing. Ironically, George Zimmerman's brother Robert told CNN that George was "a neighbor everyone would want to have". Yikes. A former coworker said that Zimmerman was fired from his job as an under the table security guard for being too agressive, that George "loved the power". Zimmerman's father, who was a "former magistrate judge" according to the New York Daily News, also defended his son to the press.

The city released a record of the 911 calls, available here.

Zimmerman called the cops 46 times between January 2011 and Feb. 26. On February 26th, Zimmerman called police to report Trayvon Martin, who he 'didn't recognize' and was 'acting suspiciously'. By the time cops arrived, Martin was dead.

Ok - gotcha - understood!

Remember folks - if your neighbour is beating the hell out of his wife and kids with a baseball bat and you hear the screams and thuds - stick your fingers in your ears and don't be a busybody. Even if you are on neighbourhood watch and supposed to be looking for unusual things!

No one knows what really happened that night.

"No one knows what really happened that night."

Good point, so the obviously only conceivable jury verdict would be, "Not guilty." As our system works on reasonable doubt.

You obviously have a reasonable doubt, as you're saying no one knows what happened that night.

Therefore, your position is: "Not Guilty."

Good show mate.

According to your posts begining anyone that sees different

is a racist. I never commented on any of this until now, because the justice system needs a chance to work.

George Zimmerman will live in fear for along time because of people like you. He is facing a sentence dished out by vigilantes like you.

The MSM has played a role in wiping up hatred, on this issue. To willing to show protest marches, where were they when there were bigger protests against Monsanto?

If anyone is racist it is the media and vigilantes that are protesting.
