Is it bad thinking or bad character that is driving the attacks on Zimmerman?

Ive been staying relatively quiet on the Zimmerman thing, trying to figure out where the Zimmerman critics are coming from. As an attorney, I've talked to a surprising number of attorneys, minorities and not, who support the case against Zimmerman. And I've talked to others that do as well. And, of course I've seen the public figures lining up with their positions.

I'll start by saying this one wasn't even close. The trial as it developed appeared to be a landslide from day one in favor of Zimmerman. There was a reason he wasn't arrested or charged initially. Even little intanglible things that only a trial lawyer would pick up on made it clear. The law was clearly on his side. People like Geraldo were absolutely right, this one wasn't close, ever, not even a bit (and Geraldo is a former trial lawyer).

What is disturbing is that I've noticed some "character" issues with those who support the case. For example, I know a disbarred lawyer, who thinks Zimmerman "did it." There are the usual pundits pushing their agenda, the Sharptons, the democratic party politicians as well.

I even know a lawyer who has lost every single case he tried, and his response when asked about it was "the wrong side always wins." Now THAT isn't true, not ALWAYS. It is far more likely that he just has bad legal judgment about what should win or not. Because he sure got this one wrong.

I've tried to understand their logic, sincerely. At the end of the day, it seems to me the racists are the ones calling Zimmerman, a Peruvian - American who is browner than most Mexicans I know, a "white" man who they speculate hates blacks and was motivated by racial animus. Those accusers are the racists. The people who brought trial or the lawyers who advocated that this was a race motivated "crime" are racists and an affront to progress under the 14th amendment.

And aside from the race issue, there were no facts. Assume they're both white, or black, or green. Kid attacks, head being beaten on ground, guy pulls gun at that point and it's over. A relatively simple self defense case and no witnesses say otherwise. It's hard to see how this ever got filed, except by poor character people caving to political pressure, brought by other people who were either stupid or incompetent or of poor character as well. Some strong words, but seriously, someone has to say it.

A missunderstanding

of "beyond reasonable doubt". Being found not guilty doesn't mean innocence.

the prosecution has the burden to prove things beyond a reasonable doubt. If there is a "misunderstanding" of what their burden is they should look it up in a book.

Bad thinking on the part of the "duped" slaves to government and media lies. I think they are angry because of the way their crappy lives are going from generations of lies and deceit. They see an opportunity to cast blame on something.

Bad character on the part of the semi-intelligent yet vile demons in the media and government who relish in perpetuating the game.

This is evil.

The truth will end this.

That is our duty.

And tday, another case in point with brethren Jackson

Jesse Jackson, on the news appealing to the "UN" to "intervene." Since when does the UN have jurisdiction over a state court crime involving a run of the mill self defense issue? The jurors didn't view this as a race case - why? Well, because the prosecution couldn't argue it was without there being any facts. This only appeals to those who are stupid enough to think that this was a race case, when it wasn't and also, at the same time, stupid enough to the think that the UN has any business of getting involved with it. Once again, bad thinking and bad character. Yet, I imagine the donations will roll in, because he told someone something they wanted to hear. What the heck is wrong with this country?!!

It is the emporer and his staff driving it

using their favorite tool - MSM.

All this attention for one killing.
Yet not a peep about the 72 shootings resulting in 12 deaths over Fourth of July IN CHICAGO ALONE!!!!!

That is like Baghdad numbers people - 12 killed in four days.

Where is the outrage, where are the protests - where is Obama telling us how if he had a son (or twelve) they would look like(would love to put in all twelve names - but a google search did not turn up ANY names - go figure) these people. Hell, where are the massive numbers of federal agents pouring into Chicago to execute warrants.

Crickets chirping.

The populace does what the MSM tells them to. They think how they are told to think.

Now this is what I'm talkin' about!

I'm starting to like the Zimmerman lawyers!

It's an emotional overreaction

that occurs all the time in this country. People get emotionally attached to a subject or an event and never even sit down to dig through the facts.

Facts first...emotions second. Unfortunately in this country it's the other way around. A large part of that emotional overreaction is due to the media...if they'd report facts things would be a little different.

Turned CNN on for like 10 minutes tonight and couldn't take it. Listened to crap like "well my gut tells me he was racist." Really? Well shoot....since your gut is telling you he's a racist lets throw him in jail for the rest of his life and toss away the key. Firm grounds to base one's decisions off of.

Knee jerk gut reactions fueled by a media feeding frenzy = uninformed irrational emotions and decisions.

What's driving the attacks on Zimmerman?

The MSM effort to perpetuate the left/right false reality...

in order to hypnotize the sheeple and exert their control over them.

Amazing how many Zimmerman threads are popping up trying to draw lines and corral people like cattle into left/right boxes.

It's like we went to sleep in the Daily Paul and woke up in Fox News or MSNBC.

it is delusional thinking

Fueled by cult leaders in politics, community, and media. Groupthink is very powerful. Among liberals the desire to be cool and socially correct is very powerful. Marxists use every issue to destroy white bourgeoisie.

Thanks For the Interesting Analysis

We came to a similar conclusion on the case. Perhaps the fact that we are on the Daily Paul indicates a similar pattern of thinking?

I applaud the brave jurors and the judge who were not persuaded by political pressure.

But do not be prejudiced against disbarred lawyers. They are not all morally challenged.

And do not be prejudiced against lawyers who lose trials. They are not all bad lawyers. Although I would think that they would eventually have a tough time getting work.

You'e welcome!

and I agree not all disbarred lawyers are bad. But some ARE. I'll not explain further as I don't want to make it about him.

And, yes, it is true not all lawyers are good trial lawyers and I shouldn't hold that against the other guy.

I guess what I was clumsily trying to say is where is the intelligent, non-partisan, anti-Zimmerman position? I haven't seen it, and what I have seen leaves me really wondering about the persons saying it. In the media it is all supposition and speculation about what may have happened, without any evidence of it happening. It's really a disgrace that it ever got that far.

Bad character by the

pressitiutes in the mocking bird media.

A lack of critical thinking skills from boobus americanus.

What else is new?

What is freedom? Freedom is the right to choose; the right to create for
yourself the alternative of choice. Without the responsibility and exercise
of choice a man is not a man but a member, an instrument, a thing.

I will blame the government.

I will blame the government. Know why, because the DoJ paid to organize protests. Plus, now that apparently government propaganda is legal, there may have been some of that too.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

No one seems to notice, there was racism involved

On the part of Trayvon Martin, he referred to Zimmerman as a "creepy cracker" and because of that, he decided to get the guy who was following him. I'm sorry to say this, but the attitude of the young black males walking around with a chip on their shoulder is not good for anyone. That attitude is reinforced buy the rap music and the gangster cool mentality that these kids identify with it.

Been saying this for 30 years. Muhammad Ali was the downfall of the black community. @/

The evidence wasn't there to convict Zimmerman

but it wasn't there to exonerate him in terms of us knowing what really happened that night either. If Zimmerman approached Martin aggressively, Martin's the one who may have been justified in getting the jump on him. Only Zimmerman knows who made himself into a threat first. Then, it comes down to whether Zimmerman needed to confront him at all. I'm sure Zimmerman thought he did, but we don't know that his judgement was all that great given the number of 911 calls he was prone to.

Defend Liberty!

What the evidence

Cleary shows, Is a man was being bashed, That man defended himself with a gun.

Two acts of aggression occured that night,

1 - Zimmerman was bashed around the head.

2 - Martin was shot and died.

Logic clearly shows which occured first!

The evidence also shows that Zimmerman did not confront him.

Case closed.

It was tragic, a man is dead, but Zimmerman commited no crime.
Stop letting the media play you, There is no evidence to suggest otherwise. Look at the facts of the case as presented.

How do you know

Zimmerman didn't cause Martin to feel threatened to the point he felt it was safest to get the jump on Zimmerman? Where did you get your evidence?

Defend Liberty!

Assuming that unlikely scenario occurred...

...would it have been reasonable, after "getting the jump on Zimmerman", for Martin to then pummel him for forty seconds while Zimmerman yelled for help?

For me, that's the whole case - those forty seconds caught on tape.

Yea, this is what I have been

Yea, this is what I have been thinking. He approached him in an aggressive manner and suddenly had to be on the defensive because the other decided to get the jump on him.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Yes, exactly

That is all true and those are wonderful talking points for beer halls, sewing circles and talk show hosts, the world over!

However, in our criminal justice system, the prosecution has the burden of proof. As such, to the extent "the evidence wasn't there" that means no conviction and it shouldn't have been ever filed. That means, to the extent that there was not a reasonable likelihood that the prosecution could prove this case BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT (i.e., 95% proof) then it should never have been filed.

To the extent there isn't enough evidence to exonerate him - it wasn't a trial to exonerate him. It was a prosecution of him, and the prosecutor has the burden of proof.

To the extent Zimmerman may have approached him, may have been aggressive, space aliens visited, etc. that is all speculative and again the prosecution has the burden of proof.

To the extent Zimmerman "didn't need to confront him" same thing.

To the extent Zimmerman made too many phone calls, same thing.

The case is and was a flat zero.

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."-- Albert Einstein

I blame the media

They created the race angle. Continued it when Zimmerman was identified as Hispanic and then never investigated Zimmerman's past race relations, instead letting accusation of racism (which they encouraged) hang out there. FBI says he wasn't racist, cops say he wasn't racist, brother says only people they identified with as mixed race kids were black people, and George Zimmerman was mentoring two black children whose fathers were in prison ( got that from 2min of CNN video, Don Lemon talking to Robert Zimmerman Jr)

It's sophomoric talking

It's sophomoric talking points focusing narrowly about skittles and a dead 17 year old just walking home from 7/11, as if nothing else matters. It's about the progresser gun grabbers being bitter about losing the gun control war.

I think it's

ignorance and prejudice...and they walk hand in hand.

What follows is not a politically correct statement -

Ever see or deal with a 2 year old throwing a tantrum?

very good article

very thoughtful, thank you for posting this!

Thinking or character

Obviously the evidence supports Zimmerman and that is clearly why he was found innocent. The evidence be damned. That won't fly with some of us who would rather support BS.

For the most part flawed thinking is the reason that anti Zimmerman cannot grasp the evidence as it appears. OTOH,for trouble makers like Sharpton (character) this situation is a bird nest on the ground. I can't believe he is stupid.

Most people's protests are by people propagandized to follow the media who BTW suggested (WOW what a good idea) there would be riots if the verdict was not as politically correct as they would like.

Until people learn to think critically these circumstances will happen over and over. Bias will reign supreme. If it ain't the truth it is flawed thinking. If you know better it is character.

I'll blather on some more

anyone who goes to law school learns that a prosecutor has an ETHICAL DUTY to NOT prosecute criminal cases that don't have a reasonable likelihood of success. This one was so one sided that they had to fire a prosector and then find a malleable stooge to get it filed. He did a competent enough job, aside from the fact that it could have gone very wrong, and there would have been no evidence to support a malice-based killing. This isn't hypothetical stuff, this is solid, universal law, and it shouldn't have been filed at all, ever.

One of the hosts on Fox (I know, I know) a female former judge named Pirro made this observation. Despite what people might think, criminal cases are almost NEVER brought just because the family of the victim hires a spokesperson lawyer, or a political party wants it. We don't just tee up things and let the jry work it out unless under the law there is evidence to support the charges and per Dershowitz and others it is actuallY MISCONDUCT to do it any other way.

The prosecutors and attorneys pushing this thing should have their own trial to answer for, and have to feel the same eight of prosecution brought against them that Zimmerman had brought against him, unfairly. If I were Zimmerman, I would have a bar complaint filed against those perpetrators by the week's end. I hope he does!

still further blathering

note that I mentioned that the bogus, fact-devoid claims that Zimmerman was a racist or racially-motivated are an affront to progress under the 14th amendment. What did I mean by that?

Well, clearly I didn't mean that the 14th amendment should be repealed. Clearly I didn't mean that it's equal protection clause was in any way bad. No, the 14th amendment and the other civil war amendments sought among other things to eliminate the "badges and incidents" of slavery. A badge and incident of slavery is the very idea that any time something happens involving a black person, that the other person "of course" was a racist if they are not also black.

So, to be clear, I HATE RACISM and I HATE REVERSE-RACISM, it's mirror-image! It's not fair to black people to suggest that this happened just because of his race, or either of their races. It's not fair to persons who really are discriminated against that the race card gets played when it isn't appropriate. It sure as hell isn't appropriate to demean Zimmerman as a racist without any facts to support that being a motivation here.
