"Homicidal Maniac" Jenny McCarthy to Host The View

Super-sexy sex-pot Jenny McCarthy dared to question paid-for scientific consensus, and apparently that makes her worse than Adolf Hitler, and ABC is equally vile for giving her a spotlight.

From Kate Giantis:

Jenny McCarthy isn't a doctor. She doesn't even play one on TV. But the Playboy-posing blonde has waged a detrimental, years-long crusade against childhood vaccinations, and now many are worried that her new national platform on ABC's "The View" will only do more damage.

"I think a network hiring a homicidal maniac, giving her a forum in front of people who have young children and are impressionable, is the most irresponsible thing I've heard of in a long time," New Yorker writer Michael Specter rants to the Los Angeles Times. "She's very dangerous. It's unfortunate that in our society, scientific evidence is now just taken as some other point of view."

Specter, the author of "Denialism: How Irrational Thinking Hinders Scientific Progress, Harms the Planet, and Threatens Our Lives," believes that the recent increases in preventable diseases such as measles and whooping cough are "directly attributable" to "people like McCarthy."

And he's not alone.

"Congrats ABC for hiring vaccine crank Jenny McCarthy for her 'outrageous... fresh POV,' [because] actual medical science is so stale and dull," fumes Time magazine TV critic James Poniewozik, who took issue with Barbara Walters' statement that Jenny "can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view."

So, I suppose the REAL question is: How much does big pharma pay Poniewozik and Specter to trash their critics?

Jenny McCarthy's Job In Jeopardy For Talking Vaccines/Autism

Health experts already didn't like the fact that Jenny McCarthy got a job on "The View." Now comes word that ordinary viewers don't like her either.

McCarthy, the former Playboy model who joined ABC's morning chatfest this year, is proving more polarizing than Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the outspoken former panelist who left to join Fox News, according to Radar. The report says the producers are scrutinizing data about audience preferences and that McCarthy's job is "in jeopardy."

Whatever the case, McCarthy's appointment caused a storm of controversy due to her claims that vaccines cause autism. That view has been soundly rejected by most medical experts, many of whom worried that "The View" would give McCarthy an even bigger platform to make her case. Toronto, Canada's health department launched a Twitter campaign to try to get McCarthy dumped.

I wonder if she's anti-2nd amendment as well. The only View member that I ever remember hearing anything good out of was Rosie O'Donnell, who questioned 9/11.

fightapathy thanks for the post. Voices like Jenny's...

are important - not just today but always. Celebrity culture predates Shakespeare.

Could you please turn off the Italicization of the text though? It's hard to read on my computer screen.

I wonder how Mr. Specter would characterize

Oh the Irony!

So... McCarthy is a "homicidal maniac" because she questions the safety of vaccines? Buuuuut Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the host she's replacing, was just fine? Hasselbeck is one of the most ignorant, hateful people I've ever seen on television. BTW, she's going to Fox News. Surprise surprise.

Jenny McCarthy

is a hottie. And it is a free country...isn't it? Jenny has a right to her opinion, get over it.

I support Jenny McCarthy

She supports a cure for autism and besides, her boobs are nice to look at.

Autism and it's spectrem are now a Pandemic

if this was Swine Flu, we would be vaccinated for it! In the US, between birth and 6 yrs, a child can receive up to 28 vaccines, plus annual 'flu shots.
Autism was almost unheard of until the vaccine rate kept increasing.
Now 1 in (approx) 80 children show signs of Autism or Autism spectrum conditions.
This is a link to Dr Andrew Wakefield, a man whom the British government and medical Big Wigs set out to destroy when he dared to question the possible relationship between MMR and Autism.I stand with him.

Hyperbole taken to a new limit

"homicidal maniac" ...What an idiot. He destroyed his own credibility by using such an exagerated term.

When they lash out
