GOP Leaders Face Libertarian Revolt Over NSA, Egypt, Syria

By Matt Fuller | July 19, 2013

House GOP leaders are scrambling to quell a quiet libertarian rebellion that threatens to block consideration of the Defense appropriations bill.

A small group of Republicans are holding the spending bill hostage until they get votes on several controversial amendments.

“We’ve conveyed to the whip team that we won’t vote for the rule if they don’t allow debate and votes,” Thomas Massie, R-Ky., said Friday. “We don’t need all the amendments to be allowed. We need at least one substantial amendment on three things: Egypt, Syria and NSA.”

Massie has two amendments before the Rules Committee: one that would defund military operations in Syria and one that would defund military operations in Egypt. Another leader in the Republican rebellion, Justin Amash of Michigan, has an amendment that would end funds for the National Security Agency’s blanket collection of telephone call records in the wake of Edward Snowden’s leaking of the program.

Call it as it is - GOP ARE LEFTISTS. They are obama lap dogs.

That is what I have been calling neocons and apologetic republicans around here, right to their faces. After the startle, they have something to go home with and think about. Some are coming around and attending our meetings.

If you continue to play hop-scotch, that is all that you will get.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

You are correct.

The current GOP was taken over by the Reagan Democrats.
Socially conservative but fiscally liberal and warmongers.

The revolt is over crooked elections

Ron Paul is what the revolt is about. We all saw an exposed very criminal process. Starting with the GOP primary election vote count. To the delegate coumnt. To the FU Frank liar crooked polles used by the Zio MSM to belittle and refuse coverage of Ron Paul.

Screw all those other things I want to be able to choose the candidate not pick from shill puppets pushed upon me by the GOP or DNC.

Its about crooked elections and a vile process that only gives the Rothschild puppets the finances and media its about the electronic election machines. Its about IzUnReal being involved in the elections.

The Ron Paul revolution has been on going for a few decades, the revolt came in 2008

I am sorry, but I do NOT like

I am sorry, but I do NOT like the way they keep calling these people Libertarians, just to piss off me and others that could be scared of the name. Those are your FELLOW Republicans, up there, buddy, and they do NOT think like you do. In FACT, they think more like the Mission Statement of the Republican Party, if you want to know the truth. Read it, and weep. Your kind is losing the party. HAH.

Instead of the Rat-Bastard REPUBLICANS trying to...

...quell the Libertarian attempts to defund the immoral Syrian intervention, they should be supporting them.

The GOP is so full of A-Holes that the few correct thinking Libertarians in there don't stand much of a chance.

But I fully applaud their efforts.

Now THEY represent me - not the rest of the GOP.

John McCain trying to meddle into everything in the world does not represent me. Unfortunately, the world doesn't know that.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

So the GOP actually thinks the libertarians will vote and elect them?

How is the House

going to defund anything? There's no budget.

Thank you Amash and Massie, You Are Two Statesmen!

Now Can We Please defund the TSA and IRS?, (And defund the Dept. of Labor as well, if need be?)

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. ~Thomas Paine

Downsize government!

Government has found many ways to send borrowed money to it's cronies. Although the cronies are many it's never the general welfare that benefits.

Free includes debt-free!

Bump that

"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere".

It's hard not to be a menace to society when half the population is happy on their knees. - unknown

...GJ Massie and Amash!!

Take the charge and foil these tyrants attempt to continue their shenanigans!

Show them what the people are demanding! Woot!

Keep your eye on the prize! - Ending legal tender laws in order for the Federal Reserve System to self-destruct is of the upmost importance.
What in the World are They Spraying

Darn those kids

Dog-gone those uppity liberty younguns!

Time to plan for 2014.

Alll pro-NSA candidates need to be challenged.

Excellent! Massive and Amash,

Excellent! Massie and Amash, keepin' it real!

I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be. Albert Einstein

The GOP seems to be

hell bent on characterizing some republican members of congress as libertarians...while the neocon media establishment wages a smear campaign on libertarians as being "kooks".

Hell of a gamble, if this tactic backfires, the game will be up for the neocons.

That's OK, I characterize the neocons, somewhat more

....accurately, as "Fascists." That is because they ARE fascists. Were they "republicans" they would be for a "republic", a system of government where the authorizing compact declares certain areas of life and practices to be beyond the authority of the government the compact establishes. They are not for this, therefore are not "republicans" no matter what they call themselves.

The three that want to honor the limitations on government in the establishing compact (Constitution) are republicans, because they are acting in accord with the ideals stated above. They may also be minarchist libertarians at heart, because that is just a special case of republicanism where instead of having a list of things that are OFF LIMITS to a given government, one just flips that and has a short list of things that are WITHIN THE LIMITS of government to the exclusion of everything else.

So, fascists posing as republicans call republicans the subset of republicans called "libertarians".

Localism is for people who can still sleep at night even though somebody they don't know in a city they have never been is doing things differently. ("Localism, A Philosophy of Government" on Amazon for Kindle or Barnes and Noble ebook websites)

Call me a Republicrat if you

Call me a Republicrat if you want. Labels don't matter anymore. We're still going to get our constitutional rights back and our voices heard.

Oh man!!

I have been waiting for an opening like that!

I agree, labels do not matter, they haven't for quite sometime. It may be for the better, the founders never intended and warned about a two party system. Deep down I believe that most people want freedom, they have just been dragged down the path of unintended consequences.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

If lables do not matter

than why not share the lable of GOP with Amash?

Justin Amash

Justin Amash, Ron Paul and some others registered on a piece of paper in order to be seen a ballot. They are statesmen. Statesmen who do NOT sell out the People, or our Republic for which it stands.

ROMNEY, santorum, boehner, priebus, toomey, rubio, etc. may be registered republican, but are as far from being statesmen as your commander in chief. In fact, they play for the same corrupted team.

You may call Amash whatever you wish. I will cast my vote according to my conscience, and based upon their record.

Labels. Granger, you may be registered republican just as I am. The difference is, I do not support those who are not statesmen.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

have you got something bewtter than paper tp register on?

Your lack of registration helps ROMNEY, santorum, boehner, priebus, toomey, rubio, etc. stay in power, and undermine Amash.

voting one's conscience is for marginalized, and that's what you're doing to Amash.

You can fool yourself and all your chicken wing buddies.. but I KNOW, and if you got in you would KNOW, but instead, have a great time.. when you're ready to go to work, you'll join the GOP.. so have fun. Life is short. Pretend tagging buildings with flyers is actually doing something besides giving city maintenence jobs.

Granger I guess

ou like getting fistted in the but with no lube from your GOP Masters. That is what the did RP delegates at last years convention!

I rather work in my local and state Libertarian Party where they respect me as a candidate and help my campaign. I rather lose every election as a Libertarian than working for the GOP and have to be a slave or sell out like Rand!

Stand With True Libertarians 2016
End the Bigotry Fire Rand

That's fiflthy minded

What I don't like are gloablists representing me, so I fought, for my seat. I had to work very hard because the GOP did me NO favors. Where the GOP threw a signing party and everyone signed each others petitions, I was not invited. I had to knock on doors introduce myself and tell them I was for Ron Paul. It actually worked out because door to door I got the word out for Ron Paul.

What did you do?

I was alone and now we are the majority, former libertarians, now we have a GOP liberty committee. What have you got?

Yeah? What do they do for you? not much.

Right YOU WOULD RATHER LOSE I get that. You're in the perfect party.

I'd rather fight and win. And we are.

TRUE Libertarians? What's that? Chomsky? SMOKE DOPE?

Smoke some more dope and keep on losin.

Well I sit on the Planning commission in my township as a LP.

Next year I will be the Township Auditor because I am the only one on the ballot. I am running for school board. I have ran twice for State Rep. I am the Chair of the Lehigh Valley PA Libertarian Party. I sit on the committee of the elections committee of the PA Lp. I am also the Chair of the PA Libertarian Party Youth Committee. Last year I collected signatures for Pa District 11 Ron Paul delegates. Yes I switched to Republican so I can vote for RP and his Delegates in the PA Primary. I collected about 100 signatures for them. I collected about 800 signatures for Gary Johnson and other Statewide LP candidates. I was 2nd in command when the Nazi Republican Party tried to challenge the signatures of the PA LP to get us kicked off the in November of 2012. We made state history of the only 3rd party to beat a major party in a ballot access challenge. We also sued the PA GOP. I am currently in a law suite suing my current State Rep for violating my civil liberties and the constitution. In 2016 I plan on running for United States Senate against Pat Toomy as a Libertarian Candidate. In 2012 I ran for Pa Libertarian Party Eastern Vice Chair and in 2013 I ran for Chair of the Pennsylvania Libertarian Party.

In Liberty,
Matt Schutter

Stand With True Libertarians 2016
End the Bigotry Fire Rand

By the way Granger.

I don't smoke dope but I don't think the government has a right too tell someone what they can and can't put in their own body.
The war on Drugs is a complete loos.

The State Rep campaign was not winable because I don't have the money to throw around like the PA Nazi GOP. The GOP spent $100,000, the Commi Democrats spent $55,000 I spent $1500

Here how the race went R 60% D 30% LP 9%. I don't think I did that bad for having NO Money and No Press Coverage! The Planning Commission election was the first campaign I ran and won.
There was 2 openings and 3 candidates Here how the race went LP 65% D 30% R 5%! (I KICKED THAT NAZI REPUBLICANS AZZ! CAN YOU SAY LANDSLIDE!)

I am going to be Township Auditor next year. I am running for School Director and have a good chance of winning. It not that I do not want to get elected, it just that I will NOT sell my soul or the Pa constitution or US constitution to get elected. And I got too much morals/class too run with the Nazi GOP! Are you an Elected Politician? I DIDN'T THINK SO. As and Elected Politician I get to show people by my actions what TRUE Liberty is all about!

I petitioned, qualified, and won my GOP committee seat.

Was the CA North West Ron Paul Campaign Team district leader, and achieved more support for Ron Paul, placing third out of 53 counties, in CA.

I have helped get appointed three Ron Paul supporters to the GOP Committee so we now have a Liberty Committee.

I hope you look forward to the next Republican being nominated for LP presidential candidate. Nazi or not, we control you.

Good luck on the campaigns you don't want to win anyways.

Na I am a free man

I don't obey the unconstitutional bills that the Nazi Republicans come up with.

No kidding

You must be rather too busy obeying the unconstitutional bills the nazi democraticican president, senate and house majority are coming up with?

None are so enslaved as those who believe they are free.
