People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered

Do It Anyway - popularized by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, others may be jealous; be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.

I love when this happens

I love it when I am thinking about a topic and then visit Daily Paul and there somebody has just posted something on the topic I was thinking about. It happens all the time. Says something for being on the same wavelength and all that.

It's kismet or karma or

something. ..

I prefer to think of it like

I prefer to think of it like this: it is between you and eternity. The fact of your actions, what you did and didn't do, will be true for all eternity. Can you live with that?

Keeps me looking for truth.

I have that printed on a business card

and I carry it with me.. but it's not Mother Teresa's

It's Dr. Kent M. Keith's

He said popularized by Mother Theresa

Sheesh, does you ever pay attention around here?

"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere".

It's hard not to be a menace to society when half the population is happy on their knees. - unknown

but isn't it nice to know who actually wrote it?

I had to click through about a dozen versions of this on youtube

to find one that gave the proper credit - the one I posted. Couldn't find one that was narrated though.

I memorized this 15 or 20 years ago but discovered today I couldn't remember how it went! So here it is again, something that should be 'stickied' in everyone's brain...

bonus: some words of wisdom from Robert Louis Stevenson which are in my personal brain forevermore:

who has lived well, laughed often and loved much;
who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children;
who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it;
who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
