Italy To Ban GMO Corn With 80% Public Support

First India gives Monsanto a run for their ill-gotten money by refusing their patent applications, and now Italy, with the help of three Italian ministries, will try to undo Monsanto. A decree has been signed which will ban Monsanto’s MON810 maize, one of the two genetically modified crops currently legally grown in Europe and sold commercially. The decree is not yet binding as it has to be published in the official gazette, but the public stands behind the three Italian ministers who put forth the document with a resounding 80% against GMO and Monsanto, as evidenced in a public survey.

Italy done an experiment some years ago on gmo's

and honeybees. The beekeepers were complaining that the GMO's were killing their bees. They divided the country in half with GMO's not grown in the southern half. After only 1 year the problems the beekeepers were having with colony collapse disorder had completely disappeared.

Here in southwest Minnesota the White tail deer have been aborting there young this year in very high numbers. A neighbor is very worried about the deer population, he had actually talked to a DNR official about it. I mentioned that it's no wonder because of all the GMO corn and Soy beans grown everywhere here.

It's so sad that we as a nation allow such raping of our natural treasures by corporations like Monsanto. One of our natural treasures that is being polluted, the Mississippi River which flows into the Gulf Of Mexico. This body of water becomes so polluted each spring it chocks out the sea life for 6 to 7 months of each year. I think we should apologize to BP because we do more damage to the Gulf in one season that BP could ever do. GMO's require much more fertilizer than conventional crops and when all that fertilizer doesn't get used it washes into the rivers.

Yup Monsatan has turned the Gulf Of Mexico into their own toilet to flush those nasty GMO poisons away.

The next Hurricane that hits New Orleans should be Monsanto's responsibility, because their crap flowing into the Gulf has destroyed all the natural barriers surrounding New Orleans.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Corn is overrated imo

I do not think it was meant to be eaten all year round imo. I think corn is also hard on the intestines.

Israel NEVER had any GMO, EVER

I love Israel.

Hey Grang,

Could you please help my Jewish friend. Cirroco got banned because she wasn't aware of the ban on 'fake blood' posts. Could you drop a kind word into the Mod Box for her, please?

((((((((((dducky)))))))))))

I don't have any pull or sway with the Mods, or MN.

I would suggest she send MN an email. I believe not all bans are permanate. Though MN and the mods don't agree with me 99.9%, they seem reasonable, which not knowing about a ban, is reason to reverse it, and I see no reason they would not unban her.

The hard part would be the waiting. I think MN gets hundreds of emails a day, and is really busy. But I bet, when he reads the email from Cirroco, he would let her know the door was open and to return to DP, or why the door would not be open.

I hope the DP door is reopened to Cirroco (not because she's Jewish.. that is inmaterial to me, plenty of Jews HATE Israel and especially some goy that LOVES Israel.. Still, I would not agree to banning someone for making a post they didn't know was a banned topic, when they wrote and explained that to MN).

interesting--

Yes, I agree that labeling is the most important thing (by the food companies themselves, not the government)--

but this shows how frightened small countries are of being taken over by GMO--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Terrible idea... outlawing

Terrible idea... outlawing food in a country about to go bankrupt and have skyrocketing inflation.

Freedom is the answer, not prohibitions. legalize real food by deregulating the food production/dispersion system that favors the mass production food factories. Liberate the economies that will result in the wealth that enables a better educated populace. But don't outlaw choices.

Terrible Idea that they are in debt.

Do you think the people chose to be in debt to the world bank? Did you chose to place future generations in debt here?

And you want them to accept contracts with Monsanto so they can become free?

Wow, if you are the voice of freedom stay away. FAR, FAR, away. Thank you.

I didn't say I want them to

I didn't say I want them to accept contracts with Monsanto. In fact, I want them to choose not to. But choosing requires a CHOICE. Prohibition takes away that choice. Just because 80% don't want monsanto foods doesn't make it right for them to outlaw it for the 20% that might desire it. If such a large portion of the population doesn't want monsanto, the free market will work itself out so that monsanto does not have much of a presence there.

Look forward to higher

Look forward to higher prices, less savings, more austerity measures, and more government bureaucracy.

Down vote!

What are we doing wrong here?

Why can't we get any traction here? The media?

It Is The Media Ira

Why don't they report on the hazards of GMO Food?

I think so too

They don't because they are both owned by the same people
