NATO: Assad, Russia and Iran are prevailing in Syria | World Tribune

LONDON — NATO has determined that President Bashar Assad ended
any short- or mid-term threat from the Sunni revolt in Syria.

Officials said NATO, in consultation with Western intelligence agencies, assessed that the Sunni rebel campaign against Assad failed over the last three months.

Destabilization of their economy

The conflict is costing Syria dearly. Who knows how long it will take them to rebound if they do... the cycle is that countries sign up for a huge amount of IMF loans to rebuild. That puts them in debt, the real goal.

“The rebel campaign has deteriorated dramatically since April and now it’s not clear who is fighting Assad or who is just getting a paycheck,” an official said.

The NATO assessment asserted that most of the Syrians involved in the
revolt — including those in the Free Syrian Army — were no longer
fighting the Assad regime. Instead, the bulk of combat has been assumed by foreign fighters, most of them affiliated with Al Qaida.

What most of us have known all along. Amazing didn't the vote to arm the Syrian 'rebels' pass both houses only a couple of weeks ago? We are truly ruled by morons.
