"Br ea king Bad" - R.I.P. 'WW'

Great show. Breaking Bad is full of libertarian philosophy and it explores a lot of social and political issues relevant today. Ron Paul even makes an appearance (or at least a Ron Paul for President 2008 bumpersticker does)in season 3 I believe? Can't wait for the last episodes, season 6 to start, Sunday August 11th, on amc. Lots of crazy symbolism hidden throughout the show too. Best show on TV hands down, best acting, casting, writing, directing, music, message, awesome show, seriously. I'm excited can you tell? Would love to talk about Breaking Bad with other liberty people on the DP! If there are fellow DPer's who are fellow BBer's I'd love to hear your thoughts on all the crazy stuff this show covers. Thanks.

if you like breaking bad

you should like sons of anarchy.

I liked when Walt told hank that the laws are so arbitrary when he's referencing that one day drinking alcohol would land you in jail and the next its legal.

hanks is a POS and they made his character perfectly true to typical cops/dea, etc.
I was hoping he'd stay paralized.

I really used to like SoA but it just became too hard to follow.

Started out great. After the killed the Fed agent, it kinda went down hill after that. The last time it was any good, imho, was the Ireland part, when Jax's kid got stolen.

I mean, they killed off Opie. Ya know?

To me, SoA was a poor man's BB.

Not that SoA wasn't a good show compared to most, just compared to BB, it really doesn't hold a candle imho.

agreed

on all counts.

The thing I like about SOA the most, is their accurate depiction of folks in law enforcement. Some are ok, like their local sheriffs and some are criminals with shiny badges.

I may have to check this

I may have to check this series out....haven't seen the first episode yet.

My favorite shows have been...

1) Spartacus
2) Walking Dead
3) The Shield

The Shield

Loved that show, even if it did occasionally glorify the 'ends justify the means' approach a bit too often for me. Still, it had plenty of interesting characters, was well-acted, and was one of the few that didn't employ overused cop-show tropes left and right.

Homicide: Life on the Street was another one I liked back when.

I've only seen one episode of Breaking Bad, and it was an hour of Brian Cranston chasing around a fly...whatever. My father was a big fan though, and said it was one of the best shows on TV.

Makes me wish that I watched it with him when I had the chance...

I have a new series to add to

I have a new series to add to my favorites list...'Hell On Wheels'. Just started watching the first season. Takes place post Civil War as railroads are being built across the US.

Walking Dead is reality TV

The kid with the badge already shot his first innocent bystander.

Breaking Bad is better...

than the shield or walking dead, imho.

Breaking Bad requires patience to watch, but it is worth it. You have to put some energy into the show.

Maybe it was worth waiting for after all

Point #1 - The police never saved anybody's life in Breaking Bad, throughout the entire series, reinforcing the axiom, "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." Austerity cuts need to begin there, with the parasites who punch a clock on the taxpayer dime.

Point #2 - Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the government has the right to keep and bear arms.

Been Binge Watching

I'm thru Season 4 now.

The $2 I pay Amazon Prime for each episode is worth it, IMHO. As a chemist and recreational drug...um, sympathizer?, I find the premise of the show fascinating.

Every episode, up until

Every episode, up until Season 5B is on Netflix.

I'm going back through the series and listening to the Big Brother Insider podcasts after each episode, hosted by one of the editors of the show with frequent guest appearances by the creator, Vince Gilligan, and various writers and directors from that week's episode.

Nice man. That was me a couple years ago. Enjoy!

I still watched the whole series up until this season again this summer, in anticipation of the final season.

But you don't need to pay Amazon. You can find the episodes for free... I'll see if I can get a link up...

Netflix has up through season 5 now, too.

Well, it's over...

I'm so depressed that my favorite show of all time is done forever.
What a great story it was.

Gale

It's too bad Gale Boetticher was not in the show very long. As I'm sure many of you know, he was a libertarian. He talked about it briefly with Walt in the lab and he had a Ron Paul bumper sticker (barely visibly when I noticed it on his car but I DVR'ed it and was pretty sure it was). Then I saw a Ron Paul sticker elsewhere as well but can't remember exactly, I think he may have had it in his apartment or in his notebook.

I think it was in his notebook...

it flashed by when Hank and Walt were flipping thru it.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Glad to see there are BB fans here

I know it's not "POLITICS" but sometimes it's nice to discuss different topics amongst ourselves.

I was sad they killed Gale off so fast too- he was an awesome nerd and did not deserve to die ONE ioda but as you know, he had to die in order for Walt to live. I remember seeing the episode with the Ron Paul sticker in the notebook, I actually caught it when it happened and had to rewind then pause. Sure enough, in his lab notes there was a RP bumper sticker. Now whether that was a diss or a shout-out remains to be seen. I don't think it was a diss though...

Have you been peeping the new, new episodes? only ONE left this Sunday it all ends- excited and depressed at the same time...

Saul was always smarter than

Saul was always smarter than Walt IMO, and I have a feeling the crux of the finale will involve him. I heard someone say Saul leaving in the last episode was just like Han Solo leaving before he came back and rescued Luke. They also need to set up the spin off show :)

More of a prequel

I heard Saul's show is going to take place before the Breaking Bad timeframe. I'm not certain on this so don't quote me but that's just what I've heard.

Saul is actually getting

a spin off show.
