I am an atheist

A a libertarian, I don't not believe in false dogmatic fairy tales such as the pagan plagiarized Bible that attempts to run my life.

Whoopdie doo. I am a

Whoopdie doo. I am a christian...who cares? Neither of our religions have anything to do with the daily paul(and yes...aetheism is a religion too. I cant prove definitavely the existence of god and you cant definatively disprove it...which leaves faith or belief aka religion)

A culprit?

This must be what epitomizes the change I've seen and heard vaguely spoken of here at the Daily Paul.

Well, here it is. Seeing this first-hand, I'm calling it what it is:
a fine example of the vacuous, slimy, and stench-ridden nonsense that only serves to tarnish the beacon that ought to unite us.

This post is so reminiscent of scourge peddled on Facebook, where people drop baited lines in the water and wait for validation... Unfortunately, the validation received from this type of fishing hasn't the capacity to sustain.

What is so ironic about Atheists?

A: They’re always talking about God.

Q: How do you make an atheist appreciate life?
A: Break his legs.

Whoa!

First of all, an atheist is not "always talking about god". That is dishonest. I am an atheist (hate that term, everyone is an atheist, but anyway....) and my atheism or others' theism very rarely even crosses my cortex. My entire family is Christian, everyone I work with is Christian, and most of Daily Paul is Christian. Religion rarely ever comes up in conversation. I've never tried to "recruit" atheists, and I don't know any atheists that have. So no, atheists are not "always talking about god".

Secondly, why the violence? Why would causing someone physical pain be, in any way, a path to truth? I had a falling incident where I broke my leg and shattered my knee. What does that have to do with appreciating life? It is frankly disgusting that you would think a form of torture would prove your point of view. I appreciate life because I know it is the only one I have- I value it more than someone who believes in an afterlife.

This is a site for libertarian-minded people who do not like collectivism.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

you break

your funny bone? relax, Francis...

the easiest way to get something done isnt to change the behavior; its to change the meaning of existing behavior. like a cut isnt a cut, torture isnt torture, its enhanced interrogation. war isnt war, its kinetic military action. declaring war now appare

ugh

who cares, if you want to practice your religion of self then fine, but dont be rude and belligerent towards others and their beliefs just because you disagree with them or think otherwise.

"I don't not believe in false dogmatic fairy tales such as the pagan plagiarized Bible that attempts to run my life."

Nope. You're NOT an atheist.

If you're a "libertarian," you believe in something called "limited government." That's the greatest and most dangerous religious delusion in history.

I am a "theist". Glad to meet you. We can work together to promote liberty...

awesome

I AM is all that is. Everything else is malleable.

I am an atheist but you come

I am an atheist but you come off as a total dick. Keep your beliefs to yourself if you are only seeking to divide.

A bit of athiest scripture

IN science we trust... may the electromagnetic waves of information destroy religion.
amen

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

Our Founders designed America

Our Founders designed America under the belief that our rights come from our god/creator. These rights are to be unalienable and superior to government. If there is no god, where do you suppose our rights come from? Do we have any? Karl Marx said his main purpose in life was to dethrone god and that people are alive simply to benefit the state and have no rights. I don't care what you call it. Your believe seems to me, to run parallel with communism and directly against the grain of America.

I didn't say god/creator... I said religion.

Religion is not god or spirituality.

the state is religion
freedom is the spirit
and they are not at all similar

Religion exists to control what they think the spirit should be in the same way that the state exists to controls what they think freedom should be.

also show me where Karl Marx said people are only alive to benefit the state and have no rights....

I was getting ready to down

I was getting ready to down vote you then kept reading. You are right. Religion is mans way to God. He always fails.

I apologize. I replied to

I apologize. I replied to your comment trying make mine visible it at the top, not as a counter to yours. I was under the impression that the site organized the comments oldest to newest. I may be mistaken about the Karl Marx quote. I can't find the source. It was not a direct quote, I was paraphrasing, but I do know it was a communist quote either from Lenin, Marx or Stalin that I believe to have come across reading The Naked Communist but can't seem to find it in it's original form.

And so it came to pass...

Will someone please explain

Will someone please explain to me why it is ok for a religious person to tell others they are going for hell because they do not believe in something that is without proof. They can talk down to them and ridicule the person and it is ok because "it is protected by the first amendment" (which the first amendment is there to protect anyone from being treated differently because of religion. You cannot threaten someone in the name of religion and justify it with the first amendment)

But as soon as someone comes out and says they are an atheist and don't blindly believe in something without proof he/she is ridiculed and called an asshole for mocking people? Just like the first amendment protects you when you say you hear voices in your head that are angles or god, the same amendment protect him when he says he doesn't believe in fairy tails and wants evidence.

And before you try to criticize me about there being "proof", listen to your own words first. There may be evidence that give some stories credit, the best legends are those that exaggerate parts of history. You belief and faith are just that. Blindly trusting something without evidence. Google the definitions if you need to. As soon as there is valid evidence it is no longer faith.

Can you explain why it's ok...

....for atheists to call religionists stupid idiots?

Same diff.

Well he has not caused

Well he has not caused physical harm to anyone, and the first amendment protects his right to do so.

I am not justifying his actions here. There are some religious people that deserve to be called stupid idiots and I have to admit I have called some worse. But most are fairly decent people regardless of their belief. I quite enjoy intelligent debates on topics of religion.

But saying someone is going to hell because they dont believe as you do is essentially calling that person evil/bad. It is only recently that atheist started to stand their ground and call for proof. You would ridicule anyone that believed the earth was the center of the universe despite no evidence.
And my favorite is that anyone saying they hear aliens is considered a wacko. But say its angles or god then you're fine.

It is sad to see the double standards in society, many stemming from religion.

Christians believe

that all are evil/bad. The Bible says that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God and that our rightousness is like filthy rags. Thats why we like this Jesus so much. He saved us from our sins, and payed the price that I would have had to pay.

That said there are those people who call themselves christians who think they are good and everyone else is bad. they tend to ignore the Bible and listen to someone tell them how awsome they are and how everyone else is bad. these so called christians dont like me. Particularly when they tell me how wonderful they are.

That wasn't the question.

The question was what gives religionists the right to say that atheists are going to hell?

The response was what gives atheists the right to call religionists stupid idiots?

It's the same question. Calling someone stupid (when you don't know them) or calling someone bad (when you don't know them), what's the difference?

You didn't clarify why atheists spewing epithets is qualitatively more ok than religionists saying atheists are going to hell.

Do you not see how hypocritical your position is? So typical.

clearly you cant read. I did

clearly you cant read. I did clarify. I stated that there is no difference. But the relgionist do not get criticized as the atheist do.

I have no explanation for you,

but keep in mind that since RonPaul4Prez2016 joined the Daily Paul here a month ago, he or she has engaged here much in the same way that youngsters engage Facebook.

The Principles of Freedom & Liberty

I don't care what you believe about God...or the existence thereof. I only care if you understand...and agree with...the basic principles of freedom and liberty. :-)

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
- President John F. Kennedy

Fellow atheist down-voting you.

First, there is enough bickering here about stupid things (like god and Sarah Palin), why add to it?

Second, being a libertarian has nothing to do with any belief or lack thereof. True, there are quite a few active people here on DP that are fundamentalist Christians and do not understand the libertarian philosophy of the American Enlightenment. But, there are vastly more Christians here that do get it. In my experience it was the freeing of the mind in rejecting the fairy tales that led me to discovering my libertarianism.

Thirdly, the Bible plagiarizes much more than the pagan myths. Even the New Testament uses stuff from Confusius, Krishna and even has some Gnostic stuff from Paul. The story of the nativity itself (my assumption that it is your reference?) is taken from ancient Egypt and Greece to the most recent - the pagans of Eastern Europe.

I am a lesbian troll.

As a libertarian, I don't not believe in fairy tales such as the pagan plagiarized belief that attempts to run my life that just because I was born to a male human body that I am bound to a lifetime of false dogmatic bodily entrapment. Nor am I bound to pagan plagiarism but seize the opportunity to correct lazily uncorrected typos as I see fit to freely correct them. I am not your run of the mill troll as most are atheist. I believe in a universal force that forces me to respect my fellow trolls, DP readers, and various earth dwellers enough that I don't hastily post unchecked dreck to my fellow trolls, DP readers, and various earth dwellers. If my recognition of such force makes me any less libertarian than my fellow trolls, so be it, feel free to label me a spiritual minarchist lesbian troll.

If you are a theist lesbian troll too, or even an atheist non-lesbian troll, or anything in between, or human for that matter, but are offended by my theist use of force, then either sue me or piss off [the latter I should like to videotape, for not only am I a theist lesbian troll, I am a theist lesbian troll with a bizarre fetish].

I believe in Lesbians!

I believe in Fools!

You are a misguided fool, but as misguided as you may be, you are a sexy fool, and in my book of adjectives "misguided" bears the far lower priority. ;) Rock on Ninja!

I stand foolishly corrected [in my face! :D] regarding my use of the term "misguided". I've used one of your posted quotes for many, many years and not known its origin. Thanks for turning me on to Pierre Teilhard de Chardin! :)

I foolishly accept the compliment

I think ;)

and you are very welcome!
