Rand Paul hits back at Christie over surveillance

"I didn't start this one and I don't plan on starting things by criticizing other Republicans," he said. "But if they want to make me the target, they will get it back in spades."

Playing to the crowd...and doing it with grace.

"They're precisely the same people who are unwilling to cut the spending, and their 'Gimme, gimme, gimme — give me all my Sandy money now.'" Paul said, referring to federal funding after the hurricane last year. "Those are the people who are bankrupting the government and not letting enough money be left over for national defense."

To all the Stand with Rand naysayers out there, this guy is in it for us, at least, his record says he is. His words say, "I want to be president, and I am playing the game like Kobe".

I prefer to see both sides, and give more weight to one side. The side where the action comes into play.

Rand is very witty and can

Rand is very witty and can come up with some pretty good zingers. We're directly over the neo-con target taking a lot of flack. It's time to do some more damage using the NSA card to destroy the neo-con traitors in the party.

tomorrow's headline:

Rand Paul says "spades"

I wish Christie would shut it with Rand

NJ already has more than its fair share of spades of all colors.

Now that's funny...

and he'll probably have to resign.

God forgives always. Man forgives sometimes. But Nature never forgives.

SHOCK REPORT!! Isolationist

SHOCK REPORT!!
Isolationist Rand Paul uses the word "spades"!!!

Is this evidence of a deeper, sub-conscious racist streak???
We get input from experts on race relations such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton!

Only on MSNBC

If it weren't so true it would be funny.

Pork Holding Up Senate Sandy Relief Bill Funneled Into The Troughs Of GOP Deficit Hawks? You Betcha.

King in a phone interview late Sunday called Paul's criticism of Sandy aid "indefensible."

"This was absolutely life or death money that was essential to New York and New Jersey," King said.

New Jersey has paid out more in federal taxes for decades

than it has received in return, unlike a lot of flyover states, that seem to always get back more in federal funds than they pay. But this is just relevant to the diversion, since all taxation is theft. IMO it is moral to simply try to get back what you were forced to pay, in some form.

RON PAUL 2012

Hold on there, Barracuda_Trader!

The thing everyone, including Rand Paul, is missing here is that NJ was hit and hit hard! The funds desperately needed were being held hostage. People were suffering for much, much, longer than they should have been, with no end in sight. Christie had to get that money here fast and if he finally had to cave, well that's what had to be done in these dire circumstances. He was looking out and fighting for New Jersey. That's his job!

NJ had been sending, no, not "sending", "POURING" funds to other states where disasters have hit for decades. Now WE needed help and we needed it fast. But, no. All of a sudden the mindset of "never let a crisis go to waste" came into play. It was all about political gains at the expense of human beings' needlessly prolonged suffering, with no end in sight.

And that pork? It sure wasn't for the people of New Jersey! From your Forbes link:

"And you may be quite surprised to discover where that money is actually headed once the rich Senate legislation is passed by the House.

A review of the mark-up of the Senate bill reveals that all that extra, non-Sandy related cash is actually set to provide billions for 'storm events that occurred in 2012 along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast within the boundaries of the North Atlantic and Mississippi Valley divisions of the Corps that were affected by Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac.'"

Hey, I can't stand that POS King of NY. But, that money most certainly was "essential" to NJ. I know. I live here.

End of rant.

Nonna sorry to hear you are a NJ resident

Maybe I am wrong about this but I could have sworn there were NJ Union pay-offs courtesy of Chrisppy Kreme and friends.

It's a fact that money is still being slowly awarded to those who have been wiped out -- slowly.

Pay-offs always move at the speed of light.

Thanks, my friend. I'm now sorry I live here, too.

You could be right about payoffs. Such is the way things work here. The people are the victims in all of this. Again, "never let a crisis go to waste".

My only point is that had Christie not been the "bully" during Sandy, many people (I'm talking inland... not the shore, which was the lifeblood of the economy during tourist season) wouldn't have had electricity (heat) and/or running water for months. The devastation was really bad all over the State and affected food supplies, medical treatment, and more. It's not like we were wanting our hands out. It was more like we wanted back some of what we were forced to shell out to others all over the country for all those the years. It was their turn, for a change. Strange how they all got it so fast and we were left to rot. We needed that money and it would have been there, had we not been forced to give it away and if the politicians didn't steal it.

Isnt it funny how people stop being libertarians

when "they" "need" the money. All of a sudden they are entitled - lol.

They including how many people with enough money to own ocean front homes - but not insurance? They including how many people that had PLENTY of notice of the incoming storm and prepped zero. They including those who's homes are now being rebuilt with my money.

Is that boardwalk essential too? Is replacing the beach essential?

Most of it was not essential at all - and still isn't. Yes, there is need during the devastation - people need rescuing, dangerous situations need securing, food and supplies need to be distributed so on and so forth - but NEEDING BILLIONS of dollars to rebuild? That's horse crap.

I think it's funny

how many people call themselves libertarians and act like authoritarians telling others what to do and think.

Oh boy - im on the Granger radar now, guess I can expect

at least my past 10 comments to get a down vote.

Please tell me where I told someone what to do or what to think???

I stated it is horse crap to receive money for rebuilding -that is the job of the local municipality and the state. Furthermore, that rebuilding should never include private property - as IS the case with the Sandy money. MANY people are getting there houses rebuilt on our dime via FEMA. That is crap in my book.

I didn't down vote you

I believe in freedom of speach.

When I see Detroit, I see the opportunity for the Loberty Movement to create and establish a Liberty City. To me, that's how to materialize independence. Other than that, when your neighbors are rebuilding and you;'re not because FEAM is crap.. then it's like shooting yourself in the foot. The principle is to take what you have and make the best of it. That's how you change things. Not damning it at your own loss.

Think any neighbor is going to think, "Wow, that R-Hal guy is amazing, he would rather having nothing than to rebuild?"

Or you could be like many people in the soup kitchen, tell us all about how bad things are and that's why they won't do anything but look for the next free meal (like it's OK if I get the food from the food bank and private donations, but food stanmps are bad?"

What you call shooting yourself in the foot

- used to be called being a "stand-up" guy back when people had pride and dignity and this country was the role model of the world.
Yeh - in my dad's generation - plenty of people would have looked down on those free loaders taking unearned money to rebuild and looked at my dad as a real man for NOT selling out.

And YESSSSSS - free food from donations is perfectly fine - food stamps that were given to you by forcibly taking MY money IS bad.

You cannot possibly be on this site for all these year and expect me to believe you do not get that.

Apparently you are of the new American mindset where shooting your neighbor in the foot is ok since it is better than shooting yourself - after all -its all about getting yours.

True

But that changed with the boomer generation.. I knew plenty of military brats, like myself, who were prepared to go to Nam.. the war ended.. military only took those who could afford, and had the connections, to get into academys. Just look at Nam Vets.. my family has them on both sides, those like my Dad who retired making $117K annually with full benefits (and he still went to work for oil contractors), and those like my brother, wound up homeless (fighting for homeless rights).

What I get, is that this system is rigged, and I will not damn a person who is doing their best if they need government assistance, they take it. They have very little choice, expecially since Churchs, corporations have been sold out, not by choice, but by laws.

Bad laws make bad people.

I am all about getting mine, but I'm also about sharing what is mine, despite the government taking what is mine, and giving it to those who by their own choices have nothing.

Maybe its from traveling when I was a kid, seeing people living in the ruins of bomb shelled places, laying on streets with no help.. It's not like I'm a bleeding heart, but I can't say that I don't care, or that I have all the money or answers to save the world from itself. I don't. I do what I can, and a big part of that is not being dependent.. which is not easy.. just look at the ACA (Obamacare coming up) as an example.

Where did this happen

?
