RT / The Guardian report:

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia and is allowed to enter the country’s territory.

The whistleblower has been granted temporary political asylum in Russia, Snowden's legal representative Anatoly Kucherena said.

“I have just handed over to him papers from the Russian Immigration Service. They are what he needs to leave the transit zone,” he added.

UPDATE: (Aug. 3, Moscow)Latest statements by Kucherena, Snowden's Russian Lawyer:

[Russia] is not a colony of the US, and we cannot be told ‘Give him to us!’”

“The level of danger is high for him. After all he’s being sought by a super power. And we understand what means and methods they could use to find him,” Kucherena said, refusing to reveal Snowden’s current location.

The lawyer also stated that he was to organize Snowdens’ reunion with his father, Lon Snowden who was waiting for his visa documents to be “finalized,” a process that could take about three weeks.

Edward Snowden has been issued a 12-month residence permit and is legally allowed to work in Russia and travel across the country. However, if he crosses the country’s borders his temporary asylum permit will be revoked, according to the lawyer.

“Edward can buy a train or airplane ticket, but he cannot cross the border because he does not have an international passport,” said the lawyer reiterating that the former CIA employee has “no intention to travel abroad as of now.”

Snowden knows.

With all Intel collected by NSA during Bushes years. They know everything about Obama and his lies and what he really is about. They don't want that leaked out either .Obama is were he is because of this secrecy in the Government.

Money talks and dogs bark

Hope Snowden gets to see his dad soon.

If I could I would give Edward and Bradley a hug. What these men have been deprived of must be terrible.

Snowden's Lawyer reported today

That the visa for Edward's father could take THREE WEEKS! That seems awfully long, doesn't it?!

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.

At what cost, Liberty?

A man has spoken out against tyranny, no matter his situation, a free man, born with unalienable rights, has spoken out in defense of Liberty and is forced to flee his country.
I would submit, is this his country, anymore?

Is this my country? Is this your country?

What are the laws that bind the citizens of this union of States?

Edward Snowden is Bradley Manning, freed. I would hope to see an infrequent smile on the face of Bradley Manning this morning.
There, but for the grace of God, go I.
What is your lot, American? The exhilaration of freedom or the shackles of irons in a psychotic box? We choose for ourselves a lot every day whether you know it or like it.

But I have to admit, after watching the Paul McCartney video I would think that Edward doesn't have it so bad.

Free Bradley Manning.

I wouldn't be surprised if

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama sent a CIA agent to orchestrate and conspire "mysterious" death of Snowden in Russia.

NSA knows Obama maybe Snowden does too

They are keeping it a secret. Part of the plan.

ecorob's picture

You wouldn't be surprised.

But would you do anything about it?

Say it was wrong? Defend his right to live?

Or, passé?

All Americans must ask themselves that question.
(and I didn't down vote you)

9/11 Truth.

the problem is that I might not even hear about it--

You are correct. IF we have the information, what are *we* going to do about the injustices?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I'm actually planning to run

I'm actually planning to run for congress soon in my district.

It's the least I can do. And if I win a seat, I'd be publicly condemning the actions of the government in the house.

Something to celebrate, something to mourn

For whatever their motives, Russia's government appears to have listened to the good will of people all over the world and done the just and humane thing by letting Snowden dwell among them, at least for a year anyway.

We, on the other hand, have to deal with a federal government that refuses to listen or care, whatsoever, about what level of grief the people have with the issues Snowden has shown light on, and treats our opinion of their actions as contemptuously as they do his.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

The question 'Would secrets continue to be revealed ?'

was quickly answered. Shortly after leaving the airport, documents revealing the entangeling aliences between the British spy machine and the NAS were made public.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

First stop

Host: Edward, where do you want to go now that you're out of that crummy airport?
Edward: Well now that I'm in Russia, and I've never had any "borsch", Take me to Anna Chapman's flat, she looks like she could make some real good borsch, but don't tell the media where I'm at, OK.

BAHAHAHAH

“I have just handed over to him papers from the Russian Immigration Service. They are what he needs to leave the transit zone,” he added.

He needs "papers" to leave the transit zone... what a friggin joke! He really only needs two legs and the slave masters to get out of his way to leave the transit zone! PAPERS! Some scribble on a piece of paper by some crook allows him to leave... it is to laugh.

"You can't come into our thug area because your scribbled on piece of paper from your group of thugs was cancelled... we need to scribble on some of our thug papers, and burn some incense, and sacrifice a goat, and then you can leave the airport" - sincerely Vladmir PantsPooper, Head Subordinate Ass Clown

Not to change the subject - but has anyone noticed?

Ed Snowden has bad skin?

He could use some epidural transfuseral.

I like Monistat 7 for my eyebrow area.

It was probably the pandas.

I find it interesting.

Constitutional discussions about current events like this one, the Paul Craig Roberts discussion about Seal Team Six, and Sue4TheBill's post from Savage. NEVER get a response from The Granger.

She makes her views quite evident about the GOP, but NEVER on important issues.

I'm ready for a weekend.

Base

I have commented many times about SNOWJOB

I am NOT celebrating this AT ALL!

I PRAY for Snowden because I think he was duped by Greenwald, who "exposed" this in the UK MSM BS "The Gardian", and now we see a UK connection with the USA giving the UK millions of dollars to SPY ON AMERICANS.. The UK is a globalist regime that has reduced Europe to a non-cultural, single monetary blob, and now they are after us.. on their quest for a one world currancy. The whole damn thing has been to get Americans to NOT trust the government( not that government needs to be trusted.. we should be part of it, OF BY AND FOR, not outsiders who FEEL we are victimes). we should be turning the tables and using NSA on the government OF BY FOR WEE THE PEOPLE) Instead,, it's all about throwing it out and no one here talks about what to replace it with.. yeah Ron Paul replace it with nothing. Sorry Ron, I don't agree that's how it works. That how you get a BIGGER Tyranny)!

I am not cheering this, I am concerned for Snowden.. "He's looking for a job". Who wants to give up a career for a job? Who wants a job that has brains and skills? This is ALL BS.

I worry about Snowden, because I totally believe he was set up, took the bait, was hung out to dry in a friggin airport.. we have no NEW photographs.. no NEW video. NO NEW statements from Snowden.. we have THE SPIGOT playing games with us and you cheer?

I feel BAD for Snowden. I'd LOVE to see Greenwald arested for acepting classified documents, I think the UK should be bitch slapped for part taking in duping America for it's UGLY globalization, and I'm sorry so many here on DP are so clueless and desperate they fall for this SNOWJOB!

Granger, do you realize how influenced you are by the MSM?

You sound like the other pundits that focus ALL attention on the MAN Snowden, and ignore what his actions have brought to PUBLIC DEBATE?

Of course people that do research have known about the NSA spying for many years, and other whistle blowers have come forward and were silenced by the MSM.

Their stories are getting attention and credibility now as a result to public attention brought about by Snowden's resolved to expose the truth.

NSA is further discrediting themselves by openly lying, and it no longer works.

And when you say Sovereignty or Globalism, are you ignoring the global cooperation between spying agencies? That Snowden also verified.

I see your posts have improved after being offered information on a spell checker.

I have made this offer in the past and will repeat it here.

Granger, I think you would benefit by taking this course.

Introduction to Logic

https://class.coursera.org/intrologic/lecture/index

Many of your posts get down voted because you seem to blatantly post illogical, and inconsistent ideas. Then you move the argument to issues and name calling. It really wastes a lot of peoples time as well as your own. I pray, that is not your real intent here.

Honestly, NO I don't, and I'll tell you why

I'm not going to say that I'm not influences by MSM, but I am going to say that I honestly don't know how much or why.

What I do know is that I own a car radio that has a grateful Dead tape from Winterland 1973 that I have been playing for 20 years (car is now 26). I rarely use my car.. if I want to ruin my day I get in my car.. the grateful dead tape helps. I don't listen to radio or TV.. I have animals and I listen.. many times I jusp off DP to go to some conflict.. have to deal with predators or animal issues.. so I am tuned into the farm, not the media. DP is ALL the media I get for the past 6 years.. I do research topics, last few months have been Israel.. but these are documentaries, movies, youtubes, web sites from localtions...

I get the paper.. comes once a week, has very little to do with USA or international news.. local politics.. and even that is limited.. I do get mail about it and email from council, supes, committees, NGOs, foundations.. but to me.. none of this is MSM.. DP is as MSM as I get.

Since I have been on the fringe, Libertarian 76 - 92, Indy 92 - 2011, and then GOP ONLY for Ron Paul.. I KNOW what CENSORSHIP is. I have NO DOUBT that MSM tell us what they want us to know.. every story is canned.

Here on DP we have been talking about government spying for years. So why this is NEWS to us is ummm I wonder, where the hell has everyone been? It was DP that warned me about Myspace and facebook and ebay and google.. cellphones and GPS, appliances, credit card RDIFs.. It was DP that educated me that we were tracked. If it came to pass that DP headlines were NSA SPIES on DP.. I would be like "Gee, I thought so." I'm not saying, "YEAH MAN THIS IS GREAT!".. It's a shame.. It's a shame that NSA and FISA and the Patriot Act is spending ALL this money to read The Granger or anyone else here. That said.. I KNOW, my life is no threat to Americans or USA security. I didn't vote for Obama, but he is my president because I am an American and I LOVE America, and I want to work to make America better... not run away.. If I had been Snowden.. I would have contacted Ron Paul,, or Ralph Nader.

So why then is THIS story news?

I am not IGNORing the connection, I believe what was revealed between the link is going to materialize with USA Treaties with the UN.. as are going to become ONE with the UN in the name of treaties, and what Snowden has done (what MSM has done in the name of Snowden) is shown ME that.. the rest of you seem to see a hero, and if global government under the UN is what you actually want.. congratulations. It is not what I wanted. I can accept it.. I can adapt.. but It's not restoring the constitution or giving us rights.. it's losing them TO ME.

When you say I name call... I'm thinking you are refering to THE SPIGOT.. that was not an original idea of mine, but I felt that Greenwald is nothing but a SPIGOT and earned that one.. and Snowden being called Snowjob was because to me.. this was controlled MSM

Thank you for the link, I will check it out.

May I suggest you be the keeper of your own time and what is a waste? It's something I don't really get with this new DP.. why we are the value keepers of other's time? It's what the military dose. Why is it here?

Linda Cross's picture

Hello Granger!

It sure took you a long time to show up! I knew that you would somehow give this discussion a unique twist.

Soon after Snowden was revealed in Hong Kong I called my 84 year old, solid as a rock, born Republican, Father. He brought up Snowden and to my surprise, was on Snowden's side, completely understanding the implications of the PRISM program as a severe violation of our constitutional rights. I knew then that we were onto something!

You don't have to be a 'tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist' to pick a side in this one. Patriots are against what the NSA is doing, Tyrannists are for it. There is a clear cut line in the sand now. And, unlike any other issue, that line is bipartisan, uniting all races, and all nations. No wonder the Government Elites 'The Dividers' are afraid.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

NSA

Nsa has been doing this for 50 friggin years. Why don't I tweet, have a cell phone, use Ebay, .... we've been talking abiout this since I came to DP and now it's NEWS?

There is a clear cut line.. USA SOVREIGNITY or GLOBAL GOVERNMENT

which side are you on?

Linda Cross's picture

To US, it isn't news, but what we know isn't mainstream.

Snowden provided undeniable evidence that what we know is true. It would be better to focus on the evidence and what needs to be done about it, and not the messenger. Easier said than done. Snowden's story is really interesting.

Your question. We're on the same side.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

So what needs to be done about it?

I'm missing that part, except, from what I'm reading the USA is making Treaties with the UN to replace our amendment rights.

I think Snowden got a bum deal. Russia is no place for a patriot.

God grant me the serenity

Yeah, I find it's best to only take positions on things you have absolutely no control over.

Looks like Ed's already

Looks like Ed's already gotten a job offer.

http://news.yahoo.com/snowden-gets-job-offer-russias-faceboo...

Toobin is a piece of

sh-t. Total scumbag.

Russia vs USA in civil rights

you could probably do a comparison to see which country has more freedom in what areas since usa has lost allot and russia has gained a good bit.

Linda Cross's picture

Sounds like a good, and timely, idea for an original post

You might see which one values Individualism the most, too.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

Smart Move

Smart move on Snowden's part! This is one smart Whistleblower and he deserves to remain free from US prosecution or harrassement.

One big middle finger to the Obama and DOJ Holder!! Here is mine too!

I have been to St. Petersburg, Russia 3 times. Met my wife there and enjoyed all the things that make up Russia. The Russian people are people just like everywhere else and I am sure Snowden will enjoy that aspect of it, maybe even find a fine Russian woman as well.

Kudos to Putin for also showing Obama the middle finger. Putin is not the best guy in the world, but hopefully he will take a stand of some sort against the NWO and US world interference.
