Image and video hosting by TinyPic

RT / The Guardian report:

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia and is allowed to enter the country’s territory.

The whistleblower has been granted temporary political asylum in Russia, Snowden's legal representative Anatoly Kucherena said.

“I have just handed over to him papers from the Russian Immigration Service. They are what he needs to leave the transit zone,” he added.

UPDATE: (Aug. 3, Moscow)Latest statements by Kucherena, Snowden's Russian Lawyer:

[Russia] is not a colony of the US, and we cannot be told ‘Give him to us!’”

“The level of danger is high for him. After all he’s being sought by a super power. And we understand what means and methods they could use to find him,” Kucherena said, refusing to reveal Snowden’s current location.

The lawyer also stated that he was to organize Snowdens’ reunion with his father, Lon Snowden who was waiting for his visa documents to be “finalized,” a process that could take about three weeks.

Edward Snowden has been issued a 12-month residence permit and is legally allowed to work in Russia and travel across the country. However, if he crosses the country’s borders his temporary asylum permit will be revoked, according to the lawyer.

“Edward can buy a train or airplane ticket, but he cannot cross the border because he does not have an international passport,” said the lawyer reiterating that the former CIA employee has “no intention to travel abroad as of now.”

I was amazed YEARS AGO that when I was

present in other countries and interacted with people, though their cultures were different, their values were just like mine.

I met a man about a year ago at a gun show that escaped Soviet Russia in the 60's by swimming to Turkey in the Black Sea. (nothing like personal information to go study, and quite pleasing to find out it's true).

He was a prominent person in the olympic program and quite an eye sore to the then Soviet Russia.

He claims he was kept protected on a military base for two years to keep him from being killed because of the embarrassment to Soviet Russia.

Snowden is a much bigger American Hero.

This will be interesting.

Putin is still very popular with the Russian

people -- unlike what our corrupt media would have you believe. I met a group of young Russian college students during the time of the Russian election primaries. Asked them who they wanted to win. They all said Putin without hesitation. They were in a foreign country (not Russia) and nobody was keeping tabs on them. They spoke freely and honestly. Most Russians like Putin and feel he is genuinely patriotic and concerned for the well-being of the Russian people, which is MUCH more you any discerning person could ever say about Obummer.

airport

announcements will probably continue to haunt him for a while lol.. glad he is finally out of that damn place.

I am sure he was provided with some kind of small apartment

within the airport. He didn't have to sit around the gates or anything, I am sure.

The Grey Shirt

One day, I predict that Ed Snowden's grey shirt will be auctioned off for a million dollars as a historic artifact. In the meantime, can somebody please buy this guy a new shirt already?

Lol

So random. Hilarious. +1

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Russia. Land of the free... Home of the brave.

?

There are a lot of good people in Russia

(and also, of course, some bad ones). Russians are probably a lot more awake and skeptical of government on average than Americans because of the many years they dealt with communism. Did you know that it was common for Russians in that era to hand-copy prohibited literature to read and share with friends? Copying machines were scarce and registered so that copies were traceable to the machine. So, people copied contraband texts by hand. It was called "Samiszdat'", which means self-published.

I believe MOST people are good

Over 90% even... I was just pointing out the hypocrisy that one of the bravest Americans in recent history, can no longer live in the USA.

Questions?, can anyone answer them?

Now does this mean there will be no more leaks coming from Glen Greenwald about what Snowden turned over?

Wasn't that the ultimatum Putin made in the offer?. Then again, does Snowden no longer have any power on what the Guardian will release an when? It this kind of a catch 22?

Since Greenwald already has the leaked info, how can Snowden stop him from releasing them?

Me thinks the thugs in Washington have backed themselves in a corner. What Snowden did is causing a stir not just in this country, but many others.

Hope Putin keeps his word on this one, although I don't think he gives a rats ass what Obama thinks or wants.

Anyone have any answers to the above questions?

The Guardian released XKeyscore yesterday morning,

we should have guessed that something big was about to happen.Note that each page is marked:

"TOP SECRET"

Snowden's lawyer

said the material all ready turned over is ok; Snowden just agreed to not release any new stuff. Which is great, as he has already released plenty.

*I hope not *None of this is

*I hope not
*None of this is verified info
*Is he supposed to?
*a precursor to WW3?
*I don't give a "rats A$$" either what obama thinks or wants.

Make That Asylum Permenant

Someone must stand up for this heroic whistleblower.

and get a normal Person like Ron Paul as president, Edward Snowden and other noble whistle blowers will simply be pardoned. But let's not forget to then go after the rotten, slime-ball persecutors big time!
