GOOGLE Pressure Cookers and BACKPACKS, Get A Visit From The Cops

Michele Catalano was looking for information online about pressure cookers. Her husband, in the same time frame, was Googling backpacks. Wednesday morning, six men from a joint terrorism task force showed up at their house to see if they were terrorists. Which prompts the question: How'd the government know what they were Googling?

Catalano (who is a professional writer) describes the tension of that visit.

Defeat the panda-industrial complex

I am dusk icon. anagram me.

Peter King's District?

Is somewhere around there, no? Seems appropriate (in a
sick kind of way) that this would occur on his turf. I bet
he showed up for the ribbon cutting at the local Fusion Center.

"They (the cops) mentioned that they do this about 100 times a week."

How reassuring.

I ggoooogglleedd

something similar, mine was 'horseshit and Bonanza (starring the affable Hoss Cartwright) and am still waiting for the Federalies.
How long should I wait?

Remember the actual bomb?

I still have the pictures of the white shopping bag near the mailbox that exploded.

It was clearly NOT a backpack. Now I'm considering searching this, just so they show up, and can show the idiots how stupid they are for believing everything they hear on the news.

more news blurbs on this issue:

a nation full of sheep.
a nation enforced by a psychotic guild of ne'er do wells & buffoons: govt terrorists.

seriously, at this point, I'd be surprised to hear about govt servants doing something common sensical...or, at the least, something resembling a modicum of human-like behavior, like once every blue moon.

I've actually

Googled pressure canners and monogrammed backpacks both this week... no company yet. :)

I'm getting tired of the clinically insane government. Everything you ever wanted to know about pressure cookers was in the news for months.

I was wondering how many people were willing to google Pressure Cookers and Backpacks just to get an up to date count of swat teams. LOL

But you 1 upped that idea.

Sorry Deacon. I wonder if

Sorry Deacon. I wonder if they have enough room in a FEMA camp for the entire MSM for doing this crime. I use Startpage but went to google just for this, pressure cooker bomb images;

curiosity got the best of me
i had to click that link,i just had to

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

oops this image just came up

great now the meatheads will probably visit because this image came up when people look at the story and unknowingly knew it would pop up. just wondering can't you say, you don't answer questions. i really don't want to talk to those neo nazi inbred pigs.

So this shows that they are actively tracking all of us now?

If you use a search engine that does not log your data like duckduckgo or Startpage I am guessing that they can still track you directly from your ISP. What do you tech experts know about any countermeasures other than to not use the internet.

I imagine anyone here at DailyPaul is by now on their enemies list.

I wonder if they are keeping track of how much ammo people are buying. If that is the case a few of us are no doubt near the top of the list.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

In my city

you have to fill out a form with your ID to purchase ammo. They know how much I have purchased in the city limits.

They say they use the information to track back the ammo to a specific purchase if there was a crime. So if there is brass left at a crime scene they check the database to see who has purchased that brand of ammo in the city and cross reference that with all known felons.

Apparently it has been working but once the bad guys figure out they can drive out of the city buy ammo and not be tracked then well it's worthless and it only tracks normal ammo sells. Makes you wonder what the info will be used for.

But I digress, I have no doubt they are tracking ammo sells online even if the website is not a willing participant. Heck they don't even need to use NSA spying, credit card companies will willingly give that information to them. Anytime you're info is given to a 3rd party I'm confident is't exposed to the government database.

Using Startpage or other search engines

helps a lot IF (a) the NSA can't eavesdrop at the backbone routers that your search request, and the reply, go through between your computer and the search engine, and (b) the NSA can't break SSL encryption.

How likely is it that SSL encryption is vulnerable? Your favorite search engine will easily turn up lots of things like:

And furthermore, SSL doesn't do anything about hiding the fact that the search request and response were with your IP address. As soon as you click on that "pressure cooker" link they know it's you anyway.

Using Tor (https://www.torproject.org/) might help. IMO you've got far better privacy using Tor and google (assuming you don't log in to google, of course, and assuming you do everything else over Tor as well) than using Startpage without Tor. Maybe even better using Tor + Startpage but I don't have any particular reason to trust or to distrust the people who run Startpage -- they may be on the level, or it may be an NSA project in disguise, for all I know. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know, I figure, and google's search engine is far better.

If I had anything I wanted to hide from the NSA I'd be using Tor, on an old laptop, running a special linux distro, etc., because anything short of that doesn't really buy you anything. I guess the same lack of trust would apply to Tor, but you've got to start somewhere, and Tor is open source so that makes it a bit less likely to have a back door. Actually the more I think about it if I really wanted to hide anything from the NSA I wouldn't use the internet at all, and I *certainly* wouldn't be posting here. :-)

What if I installed

Linux on a partition of my mac and used tor. Do you think that would be relatively safe?

What Linux distro would you suggest?

"Actually the more I think

"Actually the more I think about it if I really wanted to hide anything from the NSA I wouldn't use the internet at all, and I *certainly* wouldn't be posting here. :-)"

You mean, what "the terrorists" might actually DO

Oh well, im sure there was nothing better to spend the tax money on, plus, they could always repurpose the program, you know blackmail, threats....manipulation......come to think about it, its pretty much already set up, just need the will really......oh thank god /s

Thanks for the grassroot informational post

Yes they're eavesdropping on

Yes they're eavesdropping on everyone in real time. That's the logical conclusion.

Who in the F from our government

Who in the F from our government is authorizing this BS?

Yes I know how to make a pressure cooker bomb!

I've seen pictures of how to do it for weeks after the Boston bombing in news article after news article ad nauseam. I've been taught by the TV news how the make the trigger device and how to use RF toy parts to make it and set it off. I was taught by news papers all about the explosive fireworks elements and how to arrange it in the pressure cooker pot to maximize explosive damage.

I have a photographic memory for crying out loud as do many other people and good memory retention. What are government employees going to do, round up everyone who saw TV news and read news papers during the Boston Marathon Bombing?

Are these government employees clinically insane, brain damaged, mentally retarded, or something?

If that is the case

maybe eventually there will be a push for it to be covered by the 2nd amendment.

What a sad day in Umerica!

And people can still be heard saying, "Living the Dream" and "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave"...blahhhhhhh....

to think that so many people in this country believe this type of invasiveness and unconstitutionality is required to be FREE! Whatta joke! They are openly showing that they believe us to be nothing more than children in need of discipline.

Father - Husband - Son - Spirit - Consciousness

Just use startpage.com

You can search anything all day long. Doesn't come back to you. Or just user Tor. There are means of subverting their surveillance.

Just switched

to Duck Duck Go. It even has a plugin to become your default search on safari and firefox.

Good Advice..

Thanks for posting Hapexamedios

i saw this on yahoo

and i had the same thought as the commenter below
about trying this hehehe
would spread them a bit thin, wouldn't it?

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

So does everyone at the

So does everyone at the dailypaul want to try this? They would sure waste alot of manpower.
I have actually been buying electronics components lately so they would probably show up at my door with extra men. haha

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Be Careful Virginia

Some of those cops are really crazy. They might hurt you or even worse if you laugh or make fun of them.

Some on roids...

Dont worry, I certaintly wont

Dont worry, I certaintly wont be doing that. I am absolutly sure they would show up at my door simply based on th stuff I have been buying. Various electronic components, 555 timer chips, a plc so I can make an alarm for my backdoor, etc etc. Oh, and watching a ton of videos on electronics haha. I could be making a complicated device that would accidently blow me up. Seriously, stuff could blow up, like capacitors etc, if you hook them up wrong or put too much energy through them.
I must also not forget that I was watching a documentary on the largest bombs and I looked up what the amount of energy released was. haha I am probably already on their list or something.
At least the backdoor alarm will look good on my resume.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

I could make a small

I could make a small application that will run silently, and google those terms and others, non stop, with no browser open. Could spread it around, so much noise, they couldn't see it.
