I Knew There Was Something Wrong When ...

I knew there was something wrong when five U.S. presidents supported NAFTA. Ford, Carter, Bush Sr., Reagan and Clinton stood side by side endorsing yet another compromise of our nation's sovereignty and another move to cripple our economy.

I knew then that most of their supposed ideological differences, and their denunciations of each other, were orchestrated and just scripted rhetoric and posturing. It became apparent to me that the labels of Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal, etc., are meaningless. In fact, that incident and those five puppets came to mind when I read Ron Paul's book, The Revolution: A Manifesto, particularly in Chapter One when he wrote about the illusion of choice.

When did you know that something was wrong?

Anti-Manifesto

People who are exposed to counter-culture at a young age are predisposed to "waking up." 'So long and thanks for all the shoes' by nofx was the first punk album I ever bought (came for 1 cent with the Punk o Rama 4 cd). DK and Bad Religion became my favorites, as well as the Weakerthans.

Just seem like I didn't fit after getting drafted.
I didn't get why we were in Vietnam.
I saw some Vietnamese that where part of the body count, looked like some neighbors?
No one could come up with a great reason for why we should be afraid of the South being like the North.
(now it is, big deal? NO)

Killing for no reason was it wrong we are still doing it.
Now with the internet at least we can see it's about MONEY!

A country that wants to stop the truth tellers, a country that doesn't prosecute war crimes!

A country that some how makes a person that get's run out of his homeland because of death squads(trained at Fort Benning)a bad person(illegal)
And let's someone that drops Napalm a hero?
I understand they are just following orders but how did I know it was wrong.
We now know maybe as low a 8% killed where VC or enemy combat troops,so as much as 92% of the Millions killed where civilians! What about that would make you want anyone in the Military lead you?

I could go on and on.
The USA is a great country and the people are at the top of being the best. But the leaders have kind of led us down a dark untruthful path I think as far back as the end of WWII

Need to keep the truth and follow Paul's advice!
You would think the truth would win out.
It may but with 90people controlling the out come of Democracy it's going to be a challenge.

Just want what seems to be missing, Truth and Justice for ALL
What is fraud except creating “value” from nothing and passing it off as something?

Came early and in a different form for me

my moment was realizing that people thought food grew in cans in supermarket aisles. From there it was revelation after revelation as I attempted to discover the nature of this ILLUSION a CONSENSUAL ILLUSION that increasingly seemed to govern this society, it's actions and the actions of it's individual components.

Thus I wasn't drawn in by politics but by ecology.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

yes, that, too--

arguments relatives had about agricultural chemicals; some of them got heated--

and I wondered why it was so important to use them--

when my grandfather grew great crops with the manure from his own steers and dairy cows (small herd)--

he did things the old-fashioned way, and one of my uncles by marriage was always attacking him for it--

and then a few medical 'accidents'--

those kinds of things really cemented things for me, after my wake up about Viet Nam--

I also got to the point where I couldn't accept that 'third world countries' were poor, because they were ignorant. Didn't ring true--

then I began to read Francis Moore Lappe and later about the economic hit men--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I knew something was wrong, as opposed to suspecting,

when the president of the U.S. got on the stand and not only perjured himself but obstructed justice by getting all the other witnesses to perjure themselves. "Well, it depends what is is." I felt like I'd been hit over the head with a rubber sledge hammer. The Rule of Law was definitely gone.

I still feel the sting just thinking about it.

When the Democrats took the house in 2006

And immediately, Nancy Pelosi began bending over backwards to assure everyone that there would be no impeachment of W.

That wasn't the first straw, (and I guess it wasn't really the last straw, either).

The first straw came when I was in grade school, and we had a snow day in Seattle, and the national news played it up all evening breathlessly as, "The Blizzard of Seattle!" and kept showing an old boat shack down by the lake collapsing. They kept showing it over and over, because that is about the only thing that happened.

That's the first time my little gradeschool age mind went, "Wait a minute..."

We're being told a story. That much is clear. It is like the Truman Show, but many of us - to different levels - are aware of the ruse.

So then what?

btw, I still have a little gradeschool mind

I knew something was wrong when I was taught in gradeschool

that the Europeans "discovered" America, and I knew that someone was already living here. Then, they made us memorize which parts belonged to which country, Spain, Portugal, England, etc. I also new something was wrong when I was told in grade-school that the American missionaries did wonderful work in Africa bringing Christianity to the country and teaching them to wear western type clothing and other cultural changes. I knew the people there already had a culture and religion which had worked for them for a thousand years. I was terrified in grade-school when I learned how the American settlers killed off the Indians and "settled " this country. I've ALWAYS been considered strange, I asked the wrong questions in grade-school. That was over 50 years ago. I'm so glad to find that there are other strange people, and they are all here on The Daily Paul. (((I love you guys!)))

Keep asking them questions. Rational thought scares the enemy.

I guess I'm pretty hard

I guess I'm pretty hard headed, because even when Sandy Burger stuffed incriminating files down his pants during the 911 investigation, it didn't really hit me. It wasn't until I actually realized there was a pattern. That the pattern was consistent in both parties, and that it was verifiable with a little research, looking up old newspaper stories, and video clips.

When I heard with my own ears

When I heard with my own ears Bush Jr saying he didn't know where Osama was and he didn't really care. I was shocked. It stayed in the back of my mind for years, until the 2007 housing crash, and the subsequent TARP bailout. I joined the Tea Party to protest using our taxpayer dollars to essentially reward the very banks that caused the crash. Both democrats and republicans said we HAD to bail them out. I couldn't understand that. Then Obama introduced more bailouts for the same banks, and both parties supported that too. It didn't make any sense to me that we were rewarding the banks for their financial malfeasance. Then I saw a bumper sticker on a car in front of me that said "Google Ron Paul" so I did. I looked up Ron Paul, I read his words, I watched the CSPAN videos of him warning of this very thing way back in 1993, and I was hooked.
My focus was fairly limited to the financial aspect, until I started reading more about the Federal reserve and their part in the housing crisis, and the pattern of booms and busts in the business cycle. I didn't really believe that our government was deliberately "Evil" until I began researching the personal histories of people the Bush family, Hillary Clinton, and her involvement in Watergate and her subsequently being fired for stealing and concealing files.

I probably knew the potential for evil in government before ;but

watching the WTC towers peel/ mushroom to the ground , I thought to myself , huh,... how can that happen. Research from there linked me up to so many other issues and observations that opened my eyes to the hopelessness of our situation. We have to climb with all of our might to get out of this hole. Liberty, I fear is a passed dream. At least we have comfort here knowing we are not alone in the cause.
Thanks for the post

When JFK Was Killed

I knew something was rong when JFK was killed. The official story didn't sound right then when I was a child, and it still doesn't.

that, too--

wow, there are so many 'wake up' moments--

Kennedy was our last hope

I knew things were hopeless when realized just how corrupt and entrenched and arrogant the U.S. News Media Enterprise was. This became apparent to me after Oliver Stone's movie "JFK" was released and the public was really clamoring for answers and for a new investigation.

In this atmosphere, 30 years after the murder, the U.S. News Media remarkably just thumbed their noses back at the people, and just doubled-down on promoting the whole "lone-gunman" fraud all over again. How can a Country ever survive if its criminals (George H.W. Bush) are made into Heroes, and its Heroes (Bradley Manning) are made into criminals ?

And finally, there's the whole 2000 Election. With his father having been a failed President, and the Economy strong, and the Country at Peace, it made no sense for people to even look at the bumbling, moronic George Bush. We saw Al Gore winning the Election by 500,000 votes Nationally, and all Exit Polls showed him winning Florida. Despite obvious disenfranchisment of voters, and conflicts of interest all over the place -- the Media tried to stuff down our throats the idea that Bush really won Florida, when the election was clearly brazenly stolen right in the light of day.

And then with Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld were behind the wheel, I knew immediately that 9-11 was phony. I knew on the very first day.

None of our Countries great crimes could ever exist without the U.S. News Media being a direct accessory, a direct accomplice, a willful enabler, and a willful purveyor of propaganda.

The Media made all this happen.

Take a look at who supports "Immigration Reform" (Amnesty)...

and you get the same story.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Precisely.

That, Iran-Contra, NAFTA, and 9/11 for me (More $$$ spent on Ken Star investigation of Clinton than for 9/11 "investigation" / cover-up / disappearing evidence en masse / etc.).

What would the Founders do?

9/11

It just didn't *feel* right...whether you believe it's simply blowback or something more sinister - I am not sure myself - coverage of the event and the immediate push to war just felt off to me, and began my questioning of U.S. foreign policy.

It also sealed it for me

when the victims' families pushed so hard to get answers and were stonewalled. They are STILL working on that.

Makes me wonder what the Sandy Hook families think about the "official" story.

It's like when someone hires a detective to find out if the spouse is cheating. They already know.

Time to dump this cheating, lying, manipulating, thieving, con artist.

there is no doubt

its something more sinister...if you don't believe that you are fooling yourself after all the evidence witnesses....there is no reason daily paulers should not know that it was an inside job.

Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves...the land of liberty needs a regime change!

I think if anyone looks into 9/11 seriously,

how can they not see (or smell), that it stinks so bad that it can't be anything but an inside job. you would think that people living in close proximity would be the most interested in the truth. It seems that is not the case.
