I Hereby Resign in Protest Effective Immediately

I hereby resign in protest effective immediately.

I have served the post-911 Military Industrial complex for 10 years, first as a soldier in Baghdad, and now as a defense contractor.

I have always believed that if every foot soldier threw down his rifle war would end. I hereby throw mine down. At the time of my enlistment, I believed in the cause. I was ignorant, naïve, and misled. The narrative, professed by the state, and echoed by the mainstream press, has proven false and criminal. We have become what I thought we were fighting against.

Recent revelations by fearless journalists of war crimes including counterinsurgency “dirty” wars, drone terrorism, the suspension of due process, torture, mass surveillance, and widespread regulatory capture have shed light on the true nature of the current US Government. I encourage you to read more about these topics at the links I have provided below.

Some will say that I am being irresponsible, impractical, and irrational. Others will insist that I am crazy. I have come to believe that the true insanity is doing nothing. As long as we sit in comfort, turning a blind eye to the injustices of the world, nothing will change. It is even worse to play an active part, protesting all along that I am not the true criminal.

I was only a foot soldier, and am now a low level clerk. However, I have always believed that if every foot soldier threw down his rifle war would end. I hereby throw mine down.

Sincerely,

Brandon M. Toy

Alex is joined via Skype by former Army and Defense contractor Brandon Toy to discuss his recent public resignation from General Dynamics in protest of the "Dirty Wars" going on in the middle east and the atrocities he has witnessed. They also discuss high soldier suicide rates, U.S. officials using their powers of execution indiscriminately over seas and bringing those tactics to the American homeland, & the direction the nation is headed and the power of returning veterans to open the eyes of the general public to war crimes being committed in their name but without their knowledge or consent.

Conscientious Objection by a Former Soldier and Defense Contractor

Infowars.com
August 5, 2013

Brandon Toy enlisted into the military in 2003.

He served in Baghdad where he equipped and trained Iraqi Police and the Iraqi National Guard.

After being discharged, Toy stayed within the military-industrial complex, working as an engineering project manager at General Dynamics Land Systems.

In time, he determined that his service did not involve fighting terrorism, “taking the battle” to the enemy, or freeing Iraq.

Iraqi War Vet and Former Defense Contractor Explores the Causes and Consequences of Dehumanization and How it Affect's Todays World

Description

More Than Human/Less Than Human will examine the role dehumanization plays in generating consent for war, historically and today. It will examine the history of casting enemies of war and their origin populations as less than human.

Why is there a tendency to characterize “enemy” populations as different or less than? Conversely, why is there a tendency to see those at home as more than human, above the rules, or better than people overseas?

This full-length feature film will take an in-depth look at the forces within society – the media, the government, special interest groups, and the military – that shape perceptions of “us and them.” What powers are at work, and what is the motive? Who gains monetarily and who has an interest in shaping these perceptions?

It will also examine the aspects of human nature that leads people to accept these ideas. What is it within people that allows them to see people “over there” as less than human and those “at home” as more than human? How can we combat these forces and promote a humanistic and accurate view of all people?

These issues and more will be explored through the prism of the director’s own experiences as a 10-year veteran of the military and private defense industry. The film will rely on expert testimony, interviews with everyday people, and scholarly research. It will utilize a fact-based, confrontational point-of-view and will present the truth in a non-partisan light.

Thanks

for the interview AnCap. I didn't realize (or closely look) that this had been posted already. All those helpful features Jon built into the DP (like showing similar posts when you're creating one) get overlooked sometimes. I'll try to be a little more careful.

no bigs.o)

I truly truly care not who posts what, how many times something's re-posted, as long as the given news goes viral.)

good re-up.

I'm

not a glory hog either, but looking to see if something has already been posted cuts down on a lot of clutter. It's not about credit, it's about clutter and just being considerate. This is especially important when big news events happen. It's also a PITA to go around and deactivate threads and have to tell the poster it's a "duplicate."

yeah

whatever happened to "delete" thread option?

I liked that button:)

will get us there.

Thanks.

Shouldn't this be a sticky that hangs around on the front page.

I see it at least as important to the excellent work Greenwald is doing.

Greenwald is exposing the Truth, this man is Living it as well.

I admire them both for what they have done.

With this and the Snowden leak revelations I am reminded of
an extraordinary character who is a Stasi officer in the foreign film Lives of Others. Captain Wiesler, agent HGW XX17, abandons the rules to aid the author Georg Dreyman by hiding Dreyman’s notes which act is unbeknownst to the author; Wiesler needs to do this before the Stasi find the incriminating evidence and charges him with subversion or worse. For his suspected indiscretion, Wiesler is consigned from then on to a menial job handling mail. Years later he walks by a book store and stumbles on a book written by Dreyman titled, “Sonata to a Good Man” in which is written “Dedicated to HGW XX-7, in gratitude.”

In the real world people like Brandon and Snowden are each the “Good Man” who like Wiesler transcend a meagerness of spirit in their soul and existence to a more honorable place. Like Dreyman, we can all be grateful for their self-discovery and contribution to freedom in whatever form they choose to give it.

1 hr 35 min to the end gives you much of the story’s message. Great movie.

Brandon,

I didn't catch your complete interview on infowars today, but just listened to it in total while walking my dog just now.

The sound of resolve in your voice and the resolute peace you have with your decision was such a breath of fresh air.

I salute your decision to speak the truth, and happy to see you here a fellow DP'er.

Very Brave Decision Jefferson

You have balls brother!

Good luck in whatever ventures you peruse in the future..

I have been in the business 35 years. I stay and work there to educate the employees. That is the avenue I took. We are winning converts, even at a defense site.. I made alot of friends and converts to Ron and Rand Paul and the liberty movement.

Hell, one day at lunch we even had a freedom rally at Lockheed - Martin and flew the Gadsden Flag. There are alot of libertarians at my work site.

Believe me I don't regret staying there. Before work many of us gather together to talk about liberty. Of course I lead the talks. Many eyes are opening up and many more will as well.

However, due to SEQUESTRATION, many of my friends and co workers are getting their WARN Act papers. Many will be terminated by the end of August...

Our campus is going to look like a freaking ghost town..

I will be retiring in about 2 years..I'm getting tired and old fast..

Maybe I'll run for congress someday...Who knows?

Congrats!

It's good to hear stories like this, & I hope others follow your lead. The west has been corrupted by power & a plutocracy increasingly dangerous to civilization. Ron Paul's comment "it's no coincedence that the century of total war coincided with the century of central banking." For those of you in the liberty movement, I'm on twitter @Schuey1981 follow me & ill follow you :)

Your post reminds me of a few

Your post reminds me of a few quotes by Einstein...

This first one, because you mentioned the insanity of doing nothing. So many people do nothing yet wonder why nothing ever changes:

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein

Then another about those who do nothing:

"The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." - Albert Einstein

And finally, in relation to you throwing your rifle down and essentially refusing military service:

"The Pioneers of a war less world will be the Men and Women who refuse military service" - Albert Einstein

...

Integrity. You have it, sir.

Integrity. You have it, sir.

I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be. Albert Einstein

He was interviewed on infowars today.

Decent honorable man. I respect him.
