From The New York Times:

The United States intercepted electronic communications this week among senior operatives of Al Qaeda, in which the terrorists discussed attacks against American interests in the Middle East and North Africa, American officials said Friday…

Some analysts and Congressional officials suggested Friday that emphasizing a terrorist threat now was a good way to divert attention from the uproar over the N.S.A.’s data-collection programs, and that if it showed the intercepts had uncovered a possible plot, even better.

Yes. You read that correctly.

The government’s response to intercepting some communications they believe may be threatening is to hit the panic button and shut down embassies across the Middle East – an action some are cheering in hopes of distracting the public from government abuses. In other words, the true victory is not that it’s over for Al Qaeda, but rather it’s over for the public.

I don't respond to weak

I don't respond to weak vealed unsubstantiated references of a threat anymore. That's so yesterday.

The info that Embassies would be closed was released last week

It wasn't until Saturday that the "terror threat" came out and they gave that as the reason for the shutdown.

I say the whole thing was a set-up to distract us while simultaneously reinforcing the 'war-on-terror', and the psychological hold it has on so many otherwise good Americans.

The other possibility is they are in so deep with all the scandals about to bring down the whole D.C. power machine that they are going into their "two-minute drill", and they are pulling most of their front men out of these countries, leaving only the operatives, because they are gearing up for a real war, invasion, or false-flag event somewhere.

Yemen, it looks like could be their next target. Either that or the Obama administration has decide they needed to lend a little credibility to their distraction story, by drone striking "al-quaieda targets" in that country, on Tuesday. Or both.
