"The reality is that this is a nightmare disaster area where no one has the slightest idea what to do and which has always been out of control. All that they can do is continue to pump in the seawater to hope that the various lumps of molten fuel will not increase their rate of fissioning. And pray. The water will then pick up the radionuclides and flow downhill back to the sea. Of course, they can put up a barrier; surround the plant with a wall. But eventually the water will fill up the pond and flow over the wall. All that water will create a soggy marsh and destabilize the foundations of the reactor buildings which will then collapse and prevent further cooling. Then the Spectacular. All this is predictable enough."

borax and sodium bicarbinate are cheap effective ways

to protect yourself from radiation.

300 tons of radioactive water per day

are flowing into the ocean - it was front page news yesterday in the Mainichi Shinbun newspaper
here in Japan. I don't watch enough Japanese TV & such to be a good authority but it doesn't
seem like the overall coverage given to this has been very great and the Japanese people I'm
around don't talk about it very much - they tend to just be resigned that nothing much can
or will be done about situations like this.

Here's the English version of the article:

clean .. safe .. too cheap to meter

Why not divert the ground water before it gets contaminated?

The video shows the picture of ground water flowing downhill to the contaminating site with barriers to prevent it flowing into the sea.

Why not create a barrier on the hill to divert the ground water away from the Nuc site preventing contamination?

I'm sure it wouldn't stop all the ground water from reaching the site, but it would slow down the present volume.

I'm pretty sure that was suggested

right after the initial disaster and Tepco (plant operator) decided for whatever
lame ass reason not to do it.

What they are proposing to do now is to sink cooling tubes into the ground on
the landward side and create a barrier by freezing the soil in place around the tubes.

Sounds like it would take a small nuke plant's worth of energy to operate even if they can
get it built...

Because a simple diversion dam is too obvious.

Propaganda alert...

The video starts out informative but quickly descends into a diatribe against war and weapons, a totally unrelated issue even if also important.

that's just....

that's just MsMilky... his composite videos are always like that
for as long as I've watched them.. he does what he wants..
pictures of his cats etc..
one of the ONLY guys who stays ON Fuku though.
I appreciate his efforts and ignore his quirks..
and wouldn't necessarily call it 'propaganda'

Why don't they just evacuate

Why don't they just evacuate that area and nuke Fukushima? lol

Or use the bomb they used in the movie Outbreak where it cleared the air..

Obviously I know NOTHING about this.

A "new emergency"

What a nightmare.
