I Found One of Them: The Cohen Group (Representing U.S. Military Defense Contractors Who Profit From Foreign Aid)Submitted by pawnstorm12 on Fri, 08/16/2013 - 13:08
Today (8/16/13) William Cohen (former Defense Secretary) was on CNN arguing AGAINST ending U.S. aid to Egypt.
I noticed during the interview that he is chairman of the Cohen Group (an organization representing U.S. defense contractors among others).
Knowing that Egypt must use one-third of the money we give them to purchase weapons from U.S. manufacturers, it started making sense to me why Mr. Cohen was so adamant about not cutting off their aid.
So I did a little research.
The Cohen Group was founded by William Cohen; former Defense Secretary under Clinton.
THESE are the types of groups doing the dirty work of expanding the military/industrial complex globally on the backs of U.S. taxpayers.
Their goal is to fund arms sales around the world (using money which they lobby Congress to appropriate for foreign aid).
Then in the small print it requires recipient countries to use x-amount of ther funds TO BUY U.S.-MADE MILITARY WEAPONS (in Egypt's case, about one-third of the money we give them must be used to buy US-made weapons).
While organizations like the Cohen Group profit in the middle.
It is Anti-American and traitorous in nature.
It makes all Americans look bad when these weapons are turned against government protestors as is happening right now.
After all - those weapons all say "made in America."
So first you arm one side. Then you arm the other.
Then you wait for war to break out and when you get to go in with your own military for the mother-lode of war profits.
SHAME on organizations like the Cohen Group and "defense" contractors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, GE, Northrup Grummond etc.
But SHAME MOSTLY ON CONGRESS for playing this game, which gets them campaign funds from big defense contractors and organizations like the Cohen Group, which in turn keeps them in office for their "favors."
Then Cohen claimed that if we don't control Egypt with our billions in foreign aid, that Russia will move in.
But that argument is just a sham designed to keep taxpayer funds flowing to him and his organization.
Russia lost it's shirt trying to expand its empire and was in a state of endless war until they had to give it all up several years ago.
So if they want to lose again, let them try. Who cares? Again, Cohen is just using this argument for personal profit.
On their site below, note that most of their members came from government positions in the Pentagon with close ties to the military-industrial complex.
Sounds like a conflict of interest to me if there ever was one.
Here's a story of the corruption of the Cohen Group:
