Tennessee Judge. You cannot name your child Messiah. Only one person has earned that name.

NEWPORT, TN — The government gets to name your children for you. That’s what one family found out recently in Tennessee.

Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew has ordered that Jaleesa Martin change her 7-month-old son’s name from “Messiah” to “Martin DeShawn McCullough.”

Regardless of the judge’s reasoning, it is not her call to make (in a free society).

Yeah, like Obama to an

Yeah, like Obama to an uncomfortably large segment of the population in 2007

Or how about the millions upon millions of CHRISTians being...

referred to.

We all call ourselves by the Messiah's (Mr. Christ) "last name" (me counted I guess, a passive Catholic). ;P

Or names that start with "CHRIST"

Christa, Christabell, (Chris the 7% Bacon) Christie, Chrissie, Christo, Christmas, Christina, Christine, Christopher, Christian, Christella, Christaline, Christalina...

Funny, I have known several spanish speaking people named Jesus (pronounced Hasuz)and nobody complained or tried to make their parents change their names. Naming your child Messiah is not a legal matter and the court should not be involved in that situation.

Not that I'm taking the Judge's side...

But what sort of mother (or father) would name her child "Messiah"?
"Messiah! Take the garbage out, darn you!"

Stupid black robe.

What would the Founders do?

It is the judge's call to make

and the reasons why are plainly obvious.

It is not, and not only are

It is not, and not only are the reasons it would be not "obvious," they are nonexistent.

Let's take the comment above by

Sovereign Human which is "Such a authority to determine what a free sovereign human can or can not use as a name. BUGGAR"

It is not an exercise of authority to determine a privately owned given name. It is an exercise of authority to determine whether or not a given name CAN BE DESIGNATED as a name for a United States person which is a public use of a privately owned given name.

If one is natural born posterity the right to obtaining United States citizenship can not be abridged but names used as citizen titles to designate Untied States persons can be excluded. Just because someone gives a child a name of "Supreme President Jones" doesn't mean it can be designated as a United States person on a United States Certificate of Birth as "SUPREME PRESIDENT JONES" by the employment of all capital letters.

I am not even going to address any jurisdictional issues because it is self evident personal jurisdiction exists over two parties who consent to presenting themselves before a court and exercising an opportunity to be heard.

However, I do get tired of explaining things for free to ignorant people who argue the same nonsense and it is surely a reason I post less in general. When I finish a book using pictures to connect the plainly obvious dots I am referring to I will send you a link where you can purchase it.

Sorry, but that combination

of letters is already taken.

Perfect Example of what is wrong with our "Judicial System"

So a "God" in a Black Robe mandates 7 month old change his name from "Messiah" - This "Judge" has a "God Complex"

Send that judge down to Mexico.

She can change all the people named Jesus to Juan.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.
Thomas Sowell

This ruling is akin to retiring the number of a baseball great for which there will never be another (i.e., Jackie Robinson, #42 ). For that reason, I agree with the judge's decision. Barack Hussein Obama will forever be the one and only Messiah.

Wow that judge is scary.

Wow that judge is scary. She shouldn't be a judge.

Oh and Yeah

Over here in the Sandbox every second dude is name Muhammed or Mohamed or Mohammed or some variation of that venerated name.

Whatcha gonna due then, judge? There'll be some head choppin' goin' on if you'd disallow the use of Mohammed over here.
