Liberty In Virginia

Hello all,

This is my first time on the forums here, but I have been a long time Paul supporter, back to when I was working on his 08 run, whilst I was too young to vote.

But it was suggested that I get on the forums to get the word out about my candidate, Mark Berg, a liberty candidate who knocked off a 20 year incumbent RINO in the primary this June.

In Virginia, as you are probably aware, the local elections are held in the off-off years, meaning we will have on this November.

That said, Mark needs help from the Liberty Community. We are fighting every day with the Republican Establishment in the County and State. We have a dangerous independent campaign that has been gaining ground by some act of God.

Obviously, I would like to get financial support in addition to the moral support, but if nothing else, if you are interested in Mark's campaign, his incredible wealth of knowledge on HealthCare/Obamacare, or just want to show support for liberty in a small local race, here is the Facebook page:

His website, where you can find the much more about his stances on the issues is

Thanks so much!

Hey Man

I live in Richmond nowadays. Message me if you want to meet up or want help with anything political here.

NO MORE LIES. Ron Paul 2012.

Larry Yates, in his own words...

From the website of Larry Yates, the opponent of Dr. Berg in the Virginia 29th race:

** Opposition to Marion Barry (the race-baiting former DC mayor) and Rev. Jeremiah Wright is rooted in white-on-black racism, and "we whites will never totally lose that feeling of knowing better, the unconscious sense of being superior as a white person, of being the center of the rational universe." -

** In the post-Bush era, we need to "respond in real ways to global warming and attendant plagues and miseries, without centralizing or applying cookie cutter responses, using the best mixture we can cobble together of market, command and cooperative economics" and "figure out how we come to terms, as peacefully as possible, with the core of armed white males that holds this society hostage in so many ways." -

** "All we are defending is our fear. That is all that whiteness is. Fear, and the privilege of sharing in the loot that fear has accumulated over the centuries. Fear, and all the ways that living in fear has distinguished us from the rest of humanity over five centuries." -

** "In Virginia, as in most states of the U.S.A., concerned nonprofit housing professionals and activists developed a state housing coalition in response to the federal government's retreat from its housing responsibilities in the early 1980s. -

There is more, but the impression that emerges of Mr. Yates is that of a guilt-mongering statist. Further, it seems that Yates is a "stealth candidate" who is shrewdly hiding his ideology from the electorate. While I am sure that Dr. Berg would rather run a purely positive campaign, it may be necessary to publicize the previously-expressed views of Mr. Yates, thereby forcing Yates to embrace, clarify, or repudiate his own words. The voters in the 29th District have a right to know what the candidates actually believe and propose.

Virginia Liberty patriots, this race is taking place within your Commonwealth, to fill a seat within your House of Delegates. You need to take the lead on this and support Dr. Berg. The GOP Establishment is apparently willing to let Berg lose, probably with the expectation that a status-quo Republican will then reclaim the seat in the next election. This is a "rubber meets the road" situation: an off-year election, two starkly different candidates, one of them a fellow Liberty patriot. Please give of your time, talent, and treasure to elect Dr. Berg! Thank you.

Letter to the Editor

Andrew, are you from the Winchester area? If so, would you mind putting that info into a form for the letter to the editor?

If not, do you mind if I borrow some of your verbiage and research for one?

While I lived in Prince William Co. (DC area) for a few years...

.. and then, later, in Virginia Beach, I now live in Florida. Please feel free to use the information in my post as you see fit. Best wishes and God bless.

So great to see more threads

So great to see more threads for local candidates, may God grant us His victory!

Thank you, zwerrell, for bringing this to our attention!

I have two questions:

1. Who is the independent candidate, and what does he stand for?

2. Has any polling been done in the race?

Larry Yates

Our opponent is a Mr. Larry Yates. He is a former community organizer and member of CURE (Caucasians United for Reparations and Emancipation). If you do a google search on him, some pretty bizarre and downright crazy things come up.

He doesn't have much money, but has been running a surprisingly effective campaign.

He never says what he actually stands for, which is far left, big government stuff. He says his governing philosophy is 'Democracy and Respect for People,' but when pressed on what that actually means, he only says 'Its seems self explanatory to me.'

So he says all this nice stuff about listening to the community and world class constituent services, but never takes a stance on any issue. When pinned down, he has so far admitted he would have voted for the hugely expensive Transport Bill here in VA, which cost the incumbent we beat her job. He also opposes educational choice.

But as far as polls, one we saw had him down 55-45, but a recent poll had him ahead. I am unsure of the scientific validity of those poll, however.

Anyways, this Larry Yates character is making it seem like his 'independent' status as meaning he is a moderate, but in reality he is so far left he is not a part of the democratic party.

Poll Clarification

Him = Larry Yates, not Dr. Berg.

Larry was down 10 points in the first poll, and Larry was ahead in a recent poll that I have not yet seen.

Is Yates the only other guy

Is Yates the only other guy running?

Yes. The democrats never

Yes. The democrats never thought we would beat Sherwood in the primary, so they didn't put forth a candidate. We worked our butts off and pulled off a miracle win in June, and now the establishment RINOs in our area are doing anything they can to not help.

Good, I hope he wins along

Good, I hope he wins along with Ken Cuccinelli, all eyes are on Virginia!
